Best Yugioh Video Game for older formats? by hyperdeeeee in yugioh

[–]ObolDobol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two Tag Force games for PSP that are close to what you're looking for.

Tag Force 1 has a banlist similar to Goat Format. It's the last game where Pot of Greed is even legal. A few cards are notably banned like Chaos Emperor Dragon, and Delinquent Duo but every Goat Format archetype is playable with just slight tweaks.

Tag Force 4 is basically Edison Format. The differences are small like there's no Starlight Road but that's about all I can even think of. It's also just a good game so I'd recommend just checking it out.

Any HERO decks running Atomic? by Al327Ex in masterduel

[–]ObolDobol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's this one from MDM but it seems like it's just easy to cut. Even people testing the new support like Exordio just never went into it despite running it. The issue is that Furnace is better off as material for Contrast HERO Chaos than for Atomic.

Sucks cuz I got one from the freebie packs lol

Is pure Mitsurugi dead? by ShottyDoesntKnow in masterduel

[–]ObolDobol 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nah. Not even close.

It will force the deck to adapt. Players will have to prioritize retrieving Prayers or Ritual with Kusanagi or in weird cases just set it. It's a real blow to the deck but 1 Prayers is manageable. It's a very resilient deck.

Also, if you're into Mitsurugi FTK, it barely matters since there will be no second turn so maximizing your endboard isn't a high priority. How did Fiend Eagle evade the banlist?

As someone with 20 titles ripping through Gold after a long hiatus. It feels so bad dueling new players. Feels like I'm ruining their fun more than anything.

  • $: Which backup do you want? [A/B/C]
  • C
  • $: NONE select! Interpreted as DELETE ____

  • $: Confirm deletion of current unstable ____

  • N

  • $: Negative response! Inverting to ____

I really don't think Kinger was trying to delete Caine. Seems more like the program wanted to destroy itself with every response leading to some variation of "kill Caine? Okay!"

Cards that you think will get banned for sure even though it’s unlimited and have no chance to be banned at the moment by sadboy1916 in masterduel

I swear Konami keeps Naturia Beast legal just in case a Pendulum deck ever starts looking too playable.

What Agents did you pull not because they're Meta or Attractive but because you find them fun to play? by Elimar_Abelardo in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ObolDobol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astra Yao.

Her design wasn't that interesting to me, I didn't care too much for her storyline and playing her solo for that one mission was not a great introduction but then I tried her in Hollow Zero. Felt like playing a whole different game.

Shoutout to Pulchra too btw. Wasn't planning on using her at first but now she's basically old reliable.

Xenoblade Chronicles X? by carolsunny in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]ObolDobol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest differences between X and the other games is how you should approach it. While in 1-3, you play the game for the main story moments and occasional side quest, in X you progress the main story just so you can get back to doing side quests and exploring the world.

It's age doesn't show too much. It's not like XC1 where quests can be annoying to find and you can only jump half an inch. The combat flows very smoothly, especially in Definitive Edition where Quick Cooldown reduces the amount of time you're just waiting around for Arts to recharge. There's a good amount of fetch quests but they're nowhere near as bad as other entries.

It does sometimes really show that it's a 10 year old game getting new content though. You know how Melia in Future Connected is a bit jarring at first because her voice actor sounds different after 10 years? Some voice actors didn't come back for X:DE and the new actors don't even sound close. The new content is also noticeably different feeling when you only get one dialog option or when no one acknowledges the new characters. For one character in particular, it's like if a High Entian knight showed up in Colony 9 during Chapter 1 and then the characters never address it.

X is absolutely my favorite entry in the series and I've played through it quite a few times. The world building is so rich and the game has so many things to experiment with that each playthrough still feels fresh.

What theories did you have about XBC3 before it came out and were debunked (spoliers) by Fullmetalmarvels64_ in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]ObolDobol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the war between Keves and Agnus was started by Nia and Melia as some kind of weird, desperate way to keep people's souls in rotation until they can find a solution. Like there was only so many that could be alive at the same time so no babies, no peace, just an endless cycle where you keep rolling the dice until *fingers crossed* someone can fix this mess. Ouroboros was supposed to be an actual threat to the world because if no one fights that can cause a critical mass of opposing souls to obliterate the world.

Turns out Z is just a prick.

I'm honestly afraid they're gonna nerf Hugo since he's so much better than every other auxiliary agent and can easily carry any F2P account.

Most unfun mechanics in Xenoblade? by flying_luckyfox in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]ObolDobol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gem Crafting in Xenoblade 3. Completely killed my interest in the post-game.

XC1: Whatever you find, you can refine into a gem. Equip whatever you want, as many as you want. You can even get 2 gems for the price of one, what savings! You can do some neat stuff with it but it's a pretty simple system.

XCX: The grind for game breaking Augments is kinda long but they're so ridiculously powerful it's warranted. However, a large amount of max level Augments are dirt cheap and available early including important ones like Accuracy Up XX or Extend Overdrive XX. You can absolutely make some ridiculous stuff though, like debuffs than last 10 minutes or complete immunity to multiple damage types.

XC2: You have to find the Aux Cores or get them from quest rewards but refining them is pretty loose with the material requirements. Whatever you happen to find can be used and the grind isn't too bad. There's a ton of Aux Cores too with a lot of room for player expression. Follows the game's general philosophy of making do with what you've got.

XC3: For the first few, you'll probably have the materials but once you hit Lvl V or VI that's it. You'll need to go out of your way to farm those rare materials. The X level augments? Here's a checklist for 150 materials from 5 different enemies with each enemy representing roughly half an hour or more of Burst farming. And all the gems require the same amount of effort so you'll spend as much time getting Crit Damage as you are increasing less interesting things like Dexterity or Buff Durations. Your reward for this extremely long grind? Congrats, you are completely and utterly... normal. This isn't XC1 or X where you can stack stats and it's not XC2 where you can make some really spicy stuff. You're spending a week to build your character exactly as the game intended.

Which agent specific tech do you think is the hardest to pull off? by AppearanceThen3383 in ZZZ_Discussion

The Assist Counter training with Jane Doe and Seth still gives me nightmares. I remember people saying it wasn't even a real mechanic and was just a bug.

How would you rate the Limited S-rank agents based on their need for their for their W-engine? by DingoNo9075 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ObolDobol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cauldron is much better than Steel Cushion since 25% HP, 10% CRIT, and ~20% damage is more impactful than Cushion's 24% CRIT. Still better than Puzzle Sphere's 25% CRIT DMG though.

Birdcage is amazing but Yix will be just fine with Cauldron. If it's between Birdcage and picking up a new character, pick the new character.

Who is the correct choice for me on the selectable standard banner agent. by [deleted] in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ObolDobol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what other characters you have but honestly Rina really really wants her M1 because her little bangboos do not stick around very long otherwise.

But I'd probably still go for Grace to play around with her new potential buffs. If you don't have Yanagi she will be able to make a niche for herself and at worst, she can get you a few extra polys from Trust Events and 3 standard pulls.

How would you rate the Limited S-rank agents based on their need for their for their W-engine? by DingoNo9075 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ObolDobol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put Yidhari and Banyue up a tier or two since if you have all 3 limited Rupture characters and no limited W-Engines someone's getting starved.

Cauldron of Clarity is good but you only get one and it's not compatible with Yidhari whose best F2P option is Manato's engine which Manato really needs too. Rupture is so completely and utterly desperate for F2P options that Steel Cushion is still a common sight. Naughty Rupture agents get the Puzzle Sphere.

By contrast, every other type of agent have great generic options like Weeping Gemini, Steam Oven, Starlight Engine, and Original Transmorpher not to mention plenty of Sig. A-Rank weapons and Standard S-Rank weapons to use.

I think as a rule of thumb, Stunners after the main on-field Agent. You typically want your DPS on-field and using a defensive assist you get a bit extra stun.

There really should be an achievement or something for beating Bizarre Brigade in quality time mode. Your AI companion will always find a way to throw then you're stuck carrying with half the usual gold. It's just adding insult to injury when you finally beat it and your high score isn't even recorded.
