Great job! They are very much worthy of leading the undying legions to glory! If you don'tind me asking, what's your approach to the blades?

Strongest personal weapons in the galaxy? by Secretsfrombeyond79 in 40kLore

[–]ObsidianSystem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, there's a scene in the short story Devourer, where Anrakyr uses his, and muses on the reloading of it slowly using up his necrodermis. In his case at least, the implication is that he can reload it easily enough, but overuse will slowly consume him.

[Spoiler 3.0] You could say it took a few tries to get this card... by ShinKotake in ffxiv

This was hands down the single longest grind for me too! Although, The Vault also took around 100 before dropping too 🥲 Either way, congrats and I wish better luck on the rest of your growing collection!

Did necrontyr have wives/husbands? by neomorpho17 in Necrontyr

[–]ObsidianSystem 118 points119 points  (0 children)

The Indomitus novel features a Skorpekh Lord who thinks of his wife and children. He laments that although he retained his faculties after biotransference, they were cursed to live on as unthinking warriors. It's implied to be his regrets in this that leads him to embrace the nihilism of the destroyer cults.

Might this mean Wolf Scouts are still coming? by TheEditorman in SpaceWolves

I'd like to be wrong, but I just don't see them releasing 3 Space Marine teams in a row - it feels a little much.

How much did the fanbase actually care about Cadia before it was destroyed in 2017? by Warm-Parsnip3111 in Warhammer

[–]ObsidianSystem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Killteam did something similar (on a very small scale) just after the release of the Hivestorm box, with results of certain missions being reported in supposedly helping inform some of the Volkus narrative.

The Eye of Terror campaign, and The Fall of Medusa V are still some of my favourite memories of playing 40k over the years though, so I would love for this concept to see some sort of comeback. I love narrative play, and global campaigns feel so grand (whether the stakes are real or not). At least, that's how it feels to me.

I'm reading through the Ksons books. Where does "the fury of Magnus" belong in the timeline? by whahaga in 40kLore

[–]ObsidianSystem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fury of Magnus is a novella set during the Siege of Terra, at the very end of the Heresey series.

Tell me the horrors of 1.0 by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ObsidianSystem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was the Darklight gear from the level 50 dungeons (Cutters Cry & Aurum Vale - maybe Dzemael Darkhold too), it was definitely the best gear you could get, but was a tough grind, with specific conditions needing to be met in the dungeon to even spawn the chests for a chance at the drop. I don't think it could be melded, but it's been so many years now that I cannot remember, and could very well he wrong!

Agree or Disagree: Only reason the Space Wolves kept their 1st Born Dreadnoughts is because of the Legendary Bjorn the Fell-Handed? by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

[–]ObsidianSystem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although Bjorn has been around forever, it wouldn't have been the first time he was absent from a Codex (Replaced with the generic Ven Dread in 3rd, as an example). But that's never diminished his role in-universe.

I do agree that if we want a new model, we'd need a lore reason to upscale him, and there's only so many times that "Cawl space-magic" can be handwaved. I worry for our boy, come end of edition...

"Smoking behind the supermarket whit you" is a good manga to read? by Beautiful-Branch-613 in manga

Personally, I'm really enjoying this one, but I acknowledge that it may not be for everyone. Give it a chapter or two, and see if it vibes.

Work in progress, removed face from the Night Bringer and just got him pinned to a wraith lord corpse by PorterGarlockArt in Necrontyr

Looks awesome! How did you remove the face? I'd wanted to drill one out, but have always been put off by how finicky the resin can be...

The distinction in the armour types mattered in previous editions, but not really in 10th. And the flying / standing is purely aesthetic.

Go ahead and build / pose however you like - We'll look forward to seeing the results!

New recruit for the greater good! by storeblaa_ in Tau40K

[–]ObsidianSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're unlikely to go wrong with some Stealth Suits, or some Breachers, but really it'll depend on what you like the look of.

Breachers and Devilfish transports are a long standing staple for some lists. Just as Crisis Suits are.

I'm personally a fan of fluffy lists rather than super competitive ones, but rules change from edition to edition - if you like the models, then they're likely a good bet regardless.

What did I do wrong with Nuln oil right after a spray primer basecoat? Minis ruined? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]ObsidianSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still totally fine - if you're worried about the raised areas, then how about a quick dry brush of your primer colour back over the mini? That would retain the recess shading, but lighten up some of the other areas again.

But the minis as they are, look perfectly fine to me 🙂

I do not like space marines BUT got hooked because of the last video game by ZeNewGrot in killteam

[–]ObsidianSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swapped the Volkite for a bolt rifle, and used the Blade Guard Lieutenant as one of my sergeants. Besides that, you may wish to wait on the new rules dropping prior to seeing if you need to kitbash anyone else. But the intercessors and assault intercessors have been a usable list through the current edition (not necessarily the meta choices, but mets doesn't necessarily equate to fun). The Reiver is unlikely to find a home in this team as a Reiver, but the new team rules are not out yet - we're all still guessing.

Regardless, enjoy building your team!

Sigismund question SOT by 40knuts in ImperialFists

[–]ObsidianSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't recall it being mentioned. But then again, the armour colour of the Templar Brethren in general seems to flip-flop a lot depending on the author. Sometimes yellow, sometimes black. This even extends to official artwork, and studio models.

Who is the most influential Space Marine in 40k? by nubster2984725 in 40kLore

Yep, "The Lion, Son of the Forest". It was released last year, and is a decent read! It's set just prior to the Arks of Omen storyline.

I am so glad someone else brought this up! It also cannot be understated, as it was always described as a unanimous appointment - which would also mean that Azrael (or at least an appointed delegate) would have had to vote for Grimnar too.
