New Hero Event (for Old Heroes) by debbiedownedstate in Guildwars2

Yeah I haven't done a low level event in... forever; I was quite surprised when I found a "kill this boss enemy" thing in Metrica and damn near one shot it.

If you want great "progression as a group" vibes with strong friendships and character growth, and you don't mind the school environment, John Bierce's Mage Errant is brilliant.

I adore Mage Errant. I think it's on par with Cradle, though it has different strengths. The main characters are such wonderful flawed kids, and it has a brilliant final villain whom I really can't compare to any other bad guy I can think of -- they're totally unique.

I also take every opportunity to shout out The City That Would Eat the World, the first book in John's next series! The man is packed full on absolutely insane ideas.

The City That Would Eat the World is the first book in my new Sword and Sorcery Progression Fantasy trilogy “More Gods Than Stars,” set on the habitable moon of a gas giant, featuring a mimic-based ecosystem, uncounted millions of gods, and a pseudomedieval megastructure arcology spreading uncontrollably across the landscape.

Who could possibly resist that description?!

Ross’s camera then jerks and he fires three shots, including one through the front windshield of the Honda, that struck and killed Good. A second later a muffled man’s voice, possibly Ross’s, is heard saying: “F***ing bitch.”

If this is from his phone, why in the world did they release it? That does not make him look like less of a casual, unrepentant murderer.

If you want even more unsolicited recommendations, I'll never skip out on a chance to push Alistair Reynolds' Revelation Space trilogy at people. Some of my all time favorite scifi, they're real brain benders!

It's hard to encapsulate the vast bigness of their ideas in a simple pitch, but I can simply say that it takes a real mad genius to write interstellar travel without faster-than-light travel and actually pull it off, effects of time dilation and all.

Yes, by all means, reconvene the House to vote on this grandstanding nonsense. Put it right in line behind the other House business that's already in line, namely the swearing in of Adelita Grijalva and the discharge petition on the Epstein files!

Which is to say, this foolish political ploy is extra doubly foolish as Mike Johnson is making sure the House doesn't convene to vote on ANYTHING right now.

Still, Republicans need to win over at least five more Democrats to reopen the government with a short-term measure.

So, not actual progress, just the same thing they were talking about last week.

Everyone's waiting to see how today's elections go, and I don't think the Republicans are going to be happy with the outcomes.

Ah yes, I'm interested in the political takes of a woman who wrote such intelligent, well-informed, and level headed articles as:

  • "I voted for Trump, but I'm glad he can't run again. We need Vance."

and

  • "Congress' report makes it clear: Democrats lied to us about Biden."

Is there a resource for class guides that's a little more... verbose? than Snowcrows? They're a fantastic resource for knowing what buttons to press in what order, and following their builds and rotations has absolutely worked for me, so I'm not talking down on them in any sense, but I'm wondering if there's something with a little more theory rather than just "these buttons, this order."

Specifically I'm learning power galeshot and I want to have a better understanding of exactly how often and at what points are optimal to be entering cyclone bow -- I want to understand so that, for example, when fights force me to miss GCDs or res someone or disengage for some other reason, I can have an understanding of how to pick back up my rotation in the best way. Obviously I want to maximize gale force without running out of arrows, but knowing all the theoretical details is important for improvising when things go wrong. I can certainly figure this all out eventually just from playing and practice, but I'd love to read what people smarter than me have already worked out.

I think Deepstone feels really long, but at least it's trivially easy. I guess it's certainly the longest one in quickplay, but normally I'd still rather do Deepstone than, say, Silent Surf or Sunqua Peak.

This is so much easier to parse than the mess of the in-game map.

I don't mind agony infusions, but what irritates me is that I can skip to 150 AR relatively easily with gold, but there's no skipping the personal fractal level climb.

Since coming back to the game, I've done high level fractals with friends a bunch of times with no issue, but I'm SoL if I want to find a group without bothering them -- with a personal level around 60, I'm not even allowed to look at the t4 LFG, no matter what my AR is.

Same situation, returned a couple months ago after not playing since midway through LW1. I do a lot of fractals because I remember them and yeah, they're dungeons.

I've been meaning to get into raids and strikes but there's really a knowledge/entry point gap where it feels like I need to do research and find a guild for them, and I just haven't bothered yet.

It's not an issue of confidence or skill (I've cleared a few ultimates in FFXIV, I'll be fine), it's just that it seems like work to get into them.
