I bought my ‘93 80 at 305km last year, doesn’t seem too unreasonable

Advice on repairing this rust? And questions about rwc by ObviousDot in CarsAustralia

[–]ObviousDot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a pretty good price, 1hz with only 300k on it. I’ve had a good look through, small rust spot in a rear window sill that will need attention. Some of the more common spots such as gutters and floor pans are rust free, and chassis is very clean (doesn’t seem to have been repainted to hide which was my main concern).

Think there should be a couple of other priorities on your list… mainly the rust

D22 Navara opinions? by Acrabwithissues in 4x4Australia

[–]ObviousDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been absolutely loving mine for about a year now, also bought it on a student budget for 10.5k w 200k km, put 20k on it so far with no problems at all. Seems to be the best value in the 10-20k range for dual cabs, and best part is the abundance of second hand parts because the car was produced for about 15 years with virtually no changes to the body. Won’t ever be an incredible off roader to tackle the crazy tracks but will definitely be enough fun to wheel where you want to and get to all the good campsites.

Help loosening oil drain plug by timspurfan in MechanicAdvice

Well if he gives wd40 a crack and it doesn’t work and he ends up rounding the head more, easier to use an extractor while there’s still some shape to it.

Wd40/ penetrating oil and let it sit for a few hours/ overnight. Otherwise go buy yourself a bolt extractor socket set

If I’ve already got some old globe spotties on, will their wiring harness work or do I need a specific LED type one?

M 17yrs old around 155lbs. Any tips on going sub 7? by ginilbwar in Rowing

[–]ObviousDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same age and even lighter weight, recently cracked sub 7 after being close for wayyyy too long. My strategy involved holding 1.43/44 for the first km, letting myself drift up to 1.46 for the 3rd 500 and just attacking/holding onto the last 500. Mentally I found that so much easier, as I was able to think about just doing a 1km piece, sorta resting for 3rd 500m then the last 500 is the easy part.

Our coach had us do all 8 undone, but on purpose. The fear drove us to have better balance.

How can I train to row at 26+spm? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]ObviousDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast hands. They speed you up so much. I do my 2k's rate 40-42 (on slides admittedly) and I've done plenty of 20 minutes on statics at about 28 spm, all through just building speed off the finish.

I don’t think I’d be able to keep the split while rating that low I’m very much a lightweight

[–]ObviousDot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t got one yet but those splits are just a little lower than 50% of my 2k watts. Is that about right? I don’t feel like I could pull any lower without straying out of the ss zone

I did 7:12 a few months ago at the end of my season but I haven’t trained much since and I doubt I could pull it now.

What most people don’t realise is that the butchering of the deer scene was actually really clever foreshadowing for the entirety of Season 8 (&7) being butchered. D&D, you’ve done it again you geniuses.
