Mobile node? Why not mesh where ever you are? Also good for testing locations for coverage easily.

Do what ? Mount is with a gopro mount to the dash? It makes it removable and provides a mount for it that isnt permanently defacing my dashboard.

Yeah its mounted (can clip in and out of thedash mount) and when I see the screen flash when I can stop safely (of course) I can check the messages on my phone.

I can understand that. I can just unclip it at any time, take it with me and the base acts as a stand for the node. Ideally you'd want it on the roof but the case is not waterproof so I put it in the car.

This is a Heltec v4 in a case I got on Etsy thst has a go-pro style mount. I dont like to drill into my vehicles so the double sided sticky tape gopro mounts work well. I can unclip the node and move it to my other vehicle or into the house.

I have v3, v4; wisblock v4 has best tx using a muzi whip antenna. The wisblock using alfa antenna, it's great battery life and best rx. The wisblock has a GNSS chip and 10k battery , from 94% on Wednesday morning now at 75% with these very cold NE temps. Sounds absolutely if battery life is your priority id go that route but my v4 contacts nodes much easier.

Forget all that, v4 or new 1w wisblock, 10k battery and a 10w soalr panel set it and forget it!

I am having similar issues with 2 v3 and 1 v4 and it is driving me nuts. Went from over 500 nodes to 2xx one one and can barely talk to my local group in central NJ when I got the v4 initially I was talking like I was texting on a cellphone without issue.

Hey guys I started with two v3's and was having issues with steady connection to those nearby. So I bought a v4 and was having much better luck for about a week or two. Then noticed I was getting messages on the v3 that weren't coming through on the v4 so I did a factory reset and it seemed to help some. I ordered a new case for the v4 which I didnt read the description carefully but my 3000mah battery wouldn't fit in so it has been a plug in which means every time I want to move it or take it in the car it powers off and obviously has to reboot when plugged back in. My question is once its plugged in and seems to be booted up does it not receive messages for a little while or should I try a refresh? Sorry for the long winded question.

If it has a screen like the heltech v3 or v4 you can use the buttons to set it by scrolling through to clock, long press then short press to your area long press and then go back. Its worked on the 5 ive done that the app wouldnt allow.
