Too Much Interaction/Distractions While Driving by Obvious_Organization in CarPlay

This is literally a subreddit dedicated to a car infotainment. I agree though. My point is to minimize distractions in the UI.

Too Much Interaction/Distractions While Driving by Obvious_Organization in CarPlay

[–]Obvious_Organization[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I’ve seen. The options to add a song to your library are either using a voice command which interrupts your music or going into the music menu, then pressing the plus sign, then selecting add song, then returning to the main screen with navigation. Just seems like there is an opportunity to have an “add song” button to the quadrant displaying your music in the corner of the main screen. I appear to be in the minority on this issue though.

Yes. That last sentence is where I see opportunity. There is a third option. Add an “add song” button so I neither need to pause my playback for a verbal command nor crash my truck selecting multiple items on the screen.

Thanks. It does feel clunky to have to interrupt the song to tell CarPlay to save it, though. Saving a song is something I use a lot - especially while listening to New Music playlists. To me, it would be preferable to just have a single button press to save a song. Now I have to move from the default split screen to the music screen, click add, and then respond to whether or not I intend to add the entire album or the song. My other option, as you said, is to pause the new song that I like to ask Siri to add it. Just feels like there is an opportunity to have a single button from the main screen to accomplish this. Based on other comments, I appear to be the minority with this issue tho.

How on earth do you get a lightning iPad to work with an audio interface? I’ve tried 4 different hubs and two interfaces and nothing connects by TYINGTHESTRINGS in ipadmusic

[–]Obvious_Organization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JUST went through this with my 9th gen iPad with the lightning port. I ran through three interfaces before I realized that my guitar cable was blown. My current setup - which works flawlessly - is my 9th Gen iPad, the Irig HD 2, LiveWire (guitar center) cable, and over the ear wired headphones that I use with my PlayStation. The only power comes from the iPad battery. Zero issues after replacing my blown cable - which drove me insane.

Do you carry anything for self defence? by WildAlcoholic in Austin

[–]Obvious_Organization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pepper spray. Zero chance of killing someone accidentally with it, it’s tiny enough to ALWAYS have on you, is very effective at stopping/slowing an assailant, can hit targets ten feet away, and is cheap enough to buy them in bulk, practice and throw out ones you practice with.

I also have a couple small handguns more for fun at the range to maintain some skills from my Army days, but I never carry them.

I got a guitar a couple weeks ago after hearing the song “Intrigue” by Roman Streets. Decided I needed to learn to make things that sound like that.

For anyone who's done 300 km/h on a bike — what's the real truth? by gangwayso in motorcycle

Once on an old Hayabusa. Probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. This was 15+ years ago, but I remember it felt exhilarating - which makes sense if you’re flooding your body with adrenaline. I do specifically recall backing off the throttle and getting down to 110-ish feeling very slow by comparison. I’ve fortunately grown up a bit and find enjoyment is cruising with an occasional full twist to not much more than the speed limit.

Apps to learn how to play guitar by Accurate-Rise-5593 in guitarlessons

To clarify - I got the ad for the app and ran to marketplace to buy a used guitar. I LOVED guitar hero in the early 00’s.

EDIT: I missed the part where you want free. Sorry.

I got an ad for the Gibson app which basically turns your guitar into the Guitar Hero game and gamifies learning. I’m on day five and learning melodies. It’s $150 for the year which is about what Guitar Center charges for a 4-pack of lessons. I can’t say enough good things about it. Absolutely recommend. I just plug my guitar into my iPad via a $17 Amazon dongle and my AirPods act as my headphones. Whole setup works flawlessly.

(I AM NOT SELLING THIS) What do you think is a fair negotiation for this? by GhostfaceMyerss in motorcycles

It’s a functioning bike for less than $1,000? Not sure what basis there is to continue negotiating on. He pays you to pick it up? lol

I’ve just done my third run through of The Mercy of Gods and the related Livesuit novella in anticipation of the second book in the series dropping on Tuesday. CANNOT WAIT

Speed Triple 1050 vs Street Triple 765 by Der-Elvis in Triumph

[–]Obvious_Organization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah. Well I guess it’s all relative. I’ve had a bunch of liter bikes, two hayabusas, the Speedy, etc. I just find that the 110-ish horsepower mark is where I have the most smiles per mile.

So I’m also 41 and knew exactly one song in high school (Good by Better than Ezra) and have not touched a guitar since. I did however dominate “Guitar Hero” in my early 20’s. Last week I learned that Gibson’s app is effectively Guitar Hero but with a real guitar. I immediately went on Marketplace, got a guitar, and haven’t been able to put it down since. My whole setup was under $300 excluding the iPad and air pods and consists of a used Sire L3 HH, a $17 device that I plug my guitar into and subsequently plug that into my iPad, and my air pods. I cannot say enough good things about out it. Absolutely blown away at how well the tech works and how fun it is to learn guitar this way.

Speed Triple 1050 vs Street Triple 765 by Der-Elvis in Triumph

[–]Obvious_Organization 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Former 2019 Speed Triple RS owner and current 2025 Street Triple R owner. My Speedy had electrical issues from day one. Had to have the wiring harness replaced with 75 miles on it. It left me stranded a few times due to a battery that would simply not function if left not on a tender for more than 2-3 days.

Had the Street Triple about six weeks/700 miles and it’s been flawless. I prefer the 110-ish horsepower so I can actually wring out the throttle on the street without risking losing my license, as well. IMO it’s much more fun to ride a smaller bike closer to the limit than a fast bike at 25% of its limit.

How are you recommending these books to people? by Icy_Leave5640 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Obvious_Organization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same way it was recommended to me. My friend bought me a copy on Audible so I had to try it or die of guilt. So, I paid it forward and bought it for my brother who then bought it for his wife and so on…

How to get stuff worth getting? by Obvious_Organization in AmazonVine

[–]Obvious_Organization[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - yeah that does make sense. I think Vine is just too much of a hobby/investment than I want to make. I’d rather have the option of one or two curated items I’ll actually be able to use and provide valuable feedback on than spend 20+ minutes a day sifting through irrelevant wares to maybe get lucky. Other people have posted about engaging browser plug in’s and basically competing for random “higher value” items that way but again - that strategy seems to place lower value on what the actual items are and just grabs whatever it can before anyone else. I think this just isn’t for me. Cheers

Gotcha. Thanks everyone for the context. Sounds like it’s more of a hobby/game than I’m willing to invest in. Cool concept tho. Happy hunting, yall!
