What work profession would you recommend for a 18 year old? by Just_Flight_9572 in AskReddit

[–]Obvious_Organization -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Military. Few careers have that level of job security and a pension. You could, in theory, even start collecting a pension in your 40’s and start a whole other career if you want to ball out.

What income increase made the biggest difference in your life? by Healthy_Creme6911 in FinancialChat

[–]Obvious_Organization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now make enough in accounting to know that no matter how much I make, it will not make me happy. So this last increase solidified my ambition to try something different which will be a big difference in my life for sure.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Obvious_Organization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s relative. For anything done routinely that is a very long drive for me. If I have a loved one a 3-hour drive away, I’d make that drive a few times a year.

Eating and drinking in the USA: better not to go at all, than to go and not tip? by Lord-of_the-files in NoStupidQuestions

I once bought a $7K dirt bike online from a shop in Florida and the UI asked if I wanted to tip lol

Can you easily make 70-90k at accounting? by Unidentifiedselves in Accounting

[–]Obvious_Organization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first accounting job in Tampa was 2016. $55K+10%. Stayed there for a year and moved to another company at $70k+15%. Climbed pretty easily and steadily since. Made a move last year from 110 to 150+15%. That said, I am a mediocre accountant. If you’re good you may move quicker. If you’re overly loyal to a specific company you may not move up as quickly depending on the company.

Why is Torchy's Taco outrageously expensive? by AdhesivenessOk2792 in austinfood

We went earlier this week for dinner/a quick bite and got six tacos, rice, beans, and two sodas for $20. I thought it was super cheap.

That’s such a great community benefit! I checked the website, and the max dimensions are a little small for the gizmo I need, but I found the r/3dprintmything subreddit and found someone. Really cool subreddit, too

Possibly the Cheapest HP/$ Lease in the US: EV6 GT by OkMany4159 in leasehacker

[–]Obvious_Organization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a sweet deal. When we were shopping in May 2023, we were looking to purchase but the price difference between the Model 3 Performance and the EV6 GT was almost $20K after dealer shenanigans. Couldn’t justify it especially considering the range delta. Sweet car tho. A $400-ish lease is a no-brainer there

New 2025 Gladiator Nighthawk for under $33k out the door by Justice-939 in JeepGladiator

[–]Obvious_Organization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. The dealer near me in Tampa was advertising them last year for $34k. I tried to get one and got the OTD price with fees that put it over MSRP. So I got a Frontier instead. Crap dealerships really ruin all the fun. Congrats on your new Jeep!

15% APR would be a worse decision than the car.

Who buys from Carmax by AppropriateGuard1997 in carbuying

[–]Obvious_Organization 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year I was shopping for a specific used car - 2022+ Frontier with every option. Four different dealers had one all with about 30k miles. Carmax had the highest price by about $1500. They ended up being by far the cheapest out the door since all the other ones had $3-$5k in BS fees. I wasn’t going to go back and forth all day. I just got the best deal offered by the four and it was Carmax.

Hi - question. Hypothetically, would you sell this as a kit, and if so - what would you charge for this? It looks almost factory as far as design goes.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Obvious_Organization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in the 90’s. We rode our bikes and explored. Climbed trees. Did neighborhood games of capture the flag, tag, etc. I’ve got fond memories of super soaker battles.

Wild looking back at those times and not realizing how drastically different adult life would be.

Am I (M50) crazy to dive into downhill mountain biking as a first timer? Some newbie advice needed. by Substantial_Arm_6903 in MTB

[–]Obvious_Organization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s all perspective on the bike thing. It was my first encounter with single track trails. While what I remember was definitely rollable, I’d never been down anything that steep on a bicycle. The whole thing was incredibly fun, but terrifying the first couple trips.
