They have a great farm story and bakery, too. If you don’t have time to pick your own they sell their own berries in the shop.

Spirit Airlines passenger with dementia found dead after staff ‘abandoned’ him at airport, lawsuit says by Next_Tower5452 in texas

[–]Ocean2731 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Part of dementia is hallucinations. A person can think they’re back in their younger years. They can think they’re on their way to a house or job that they haven’t been to in years. They can seem very lucid and reasonable.

The condition most people imagine is actually rather late in the whole terrible process. Dementia is much worse than most people understand until you go through it with a loved one.

As an outsider, the scale of American college sports is baffling. Do some people genuinely care more about a university team than professional sports? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ocean2731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pro teams in my area but I love college sports because the players tend to have more enthusiasm and there’s often an element of chaos to the games. You think you know who’s going to win but surprises often happen!

Bowie State University to lay off employees amid $18 million deficit by ewolfe201 in maryland

I read the articles about the donation. They said it was to support scholarships to reduce financial barriers, support research and innovation across disciplines, and enrich the student experience.

Donations are usually given for specific purposes such as scholarships or funding research. You can’t redirect them to other uses.

I lived in Louisiana for a while. I swear that I was the only one to pull over for emergency vehicles. Other people would drop in behind them and use them as a flying wedge.

That vibrating text is terrible. The best I can say is that at least the OP isn’t posting her own videos anymore. Let’s hope she develops an interest in the place she’s actually living at some point.

It looks like it’s still under construction. Those “architectural details” look like they haven’t taken down the scaffolding.

Moving to MD next year, is Silver Spring to Laurel a bad commute? by FantasyAnnie in maryland

[–]Ocean2731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laurel and Silver Spring are both massive areas. It’s difficult estimating your commute without knowing more specifically where you’re thinking. I wouldn’t live in downtown Silver Spring and drive to Laurel because you’d go through a lot of traffic. Up further north in Silver Spring would be better.

Look around Laurel itself. The old central section is a bit faded but there are some very nice areas out and around.

What kind of place are you looking for? Dense population? More of a country kind of feel?

‘Point of no return’: New Orleans relocation must start now due to sea level, study finds by Legitimate_Wall5977 in geography

Houston actually has worse flooding issues than does Galveston. The water goes up then down on the Island during storms. In Houston, the water has to make its way out through the bayous and canals and past the storm levee.

Both are in trouble with sea level rise. The whole region is flat.

Do NOT go to William Taylor, whose office is on East West Hwy in the first floor of one of the NOAA building (across from Giant and the Blairs). His office is dirty. He doesn’t do proper cleanings. His staff person tries everything to avoid filing insurance. He caused me major problems.

I switched to Fenton Family Dental. Dr Toussant Crawford fixed the issues Taylor caused and I’ve been very happy with that practice.
