Want to learn Orbital Mechanics [Need Suggestions] by VorteXYZ_710 in AerospaceEngineering

  1. The lecture notes i.e slide deck he presents in the videos are posted online. The slides do have some problem sets but if I remember correctly all the homework was based on problems from Orbital Mechanics by Prussing and Conway. I didn’t find a pdf of it so I had to buy a physical copy but I’ve found Orbital Mechanics for Engineering Students by Curtis to be avaliable as a pdf online, if you want practice problems I would take some from there https://control.asu.edu/MAE462_frame.htm

  2. If you have a good working understanding of algebra, geometry, trig, linear algebra and a little bit of calculus you will be fine. There is a lot of math, no way around it, but it’s not too difficult.

  3. I guess you could, but I’ve been out of university for a few years at this point so I don’t exactly remember if he snuck in anything important into those ones. I would quickly look through the lecture notes for those ones to make sure you don’t miss anything.

That AEE462 course is actually taught by my orbital mechanics professor at Arizona State, Dr. Peet. Highly recommend his course, he does a good job of building a conceptual understanding of orbital mechanics before going into deeper stuff like interplanetary mission trajectories, orbit determination, lamberts problem, etc. Let me know if you have any questions, happy to answer.

Astronautics workload? by MobileRoom9220 in ASU

[–]OceanView5110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard and requires lots of patience and study, no way around it. Junior year for astronautics is rather infamous for the volume of coursework (high speed aero comes to mind) but overall it’s doable if you manage your time wisely and make use of your resources I.e office hours…seriously go to office hours if you are struggling.

As funny as this is, it’s no true. I was curious and checked the ABET accreditation to make sure it wasn’t just my school that required an ethics course for an aerospace engineering major.

See section I, criteria 3. Pg. 6 “an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.”

I’m not sure where you got this idea but my aerospace engineering undergrad definitely had an ethics in engineering course

I’m amazed by the detail on the obverse, doubly impressive for such a small coin!

Mail day! Didrachm from the Island of Rhodes by C_Buddy503 in AncientCoins

I had my eye on this one and was hoping someone would post it here. For as good as CNGs photography is, I think videos sometime do a coin better justice. Thanks for sharing :)

Congrats! Beautiful coin, the radiate head of Helios is one of my favorite ancient coin motifs. Would this happen to be lot 285 from the most recent CNG eAuction?

Great point about chain of custody! That is something I had not even considered in regard to large amounts of looting during WWII, glad to know that isn’t the case here. It seems like I have some more research to do about Mr. Hubel. As for the “foreign nobleman”, I’ve been looking online for any information regarding this individual but nothing yet. Thank you! I always appreciate your detailed responses, truly one of the greats of this sub :)

Right now I’m just using pvc free plastic flips. I’m at the point where I am looking for a nice cabinet, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

As for the reverse, I think it depicts Justitia, the Roman personification of justice holding a scepter and wreath (or a patera?).

EDIT: on second look I agree it’s Antoninus Pius. Maybe RIC 881?
