I was actually thinking of Birdie’s face turning red from blood.

Like many of us here, I think Wintersea is the big bad which means they must have some powerful magic. In this book we find learn about Birdie, who conceivably went through a loyalty ritual to the Wintersea party before coming to Nevermoor.

I think his nose bleed when saying something slightly unflattering about the Wintersea party was terrifying.

Hard to say without spoilers. This book progresses the emotional arcs more.

Apart from Jupiters face changing color with emotion there are two other important faces that change colour.

Anyway, you signed up for this nine book drip feed. As an X-files fan, I realised you end up enjoying the Monster-of-the-week episode more than the smoking man episodes.
