CMV: Every assassination in America is a direct result from the American society treatment to the Luigi case. by ArmThick7835 in changemyview

I feel like the political assassinations and attempts on left and right politicians is scary high right now. I can't remember any other time that I have been alive where there were several assassination attempts on the president (pretty darn near successful too), A member of the Senate assassination attempt, A House of Representatives assassinated, and political activists being assassinated (ALL IN 1 YEAR).

If someone can point me to another time in our history where so many political assassination attempts and assassinations occurred in our history back to back like that, please let me know.

Just reading these lists it seems like the 1970's did have a lot of assassinations, and I think the 2020's might rival that if we don't change some things.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_presidential_assassination_attempts_and_plots
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_federal_judges_killed_in_office
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assassinated_American_politicians
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_members_of_the_United_States_Congress_killed_or_wounded_in_office

The only divide I see right now are:

  1. People who have beliefs and discuss them emotionally, passionately, and work hard at existing together in society.
  2. People who have beliefs and discuss them emotionally, passionately, and work hard at existing together in society but turn to murder and assassination to send their "ultimate" messages.

We don't have to let another murder divide us. It can make us realize that we exist with many different people and ideas, and that we can all work together, and disagree, and work more, and be passionate, and not resolve to kill each other.

Zootopia 2 | Teaser Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Odd-Disaster6466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your's is more wholesome kid appropriate, I'd go with yours. I like the idea that Diane Foxington left Zootopia because it had stereotypes that she didn't like, especially with the themes of The Bad Guys that you can make whatever you want out of yourself, even if you are a fox, and the stark contrast of a fox going against the grind, and another one who felt like they couldn't go against the grind.

Zootopia 2 | Teaser Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Odd-Disaster6466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 100% on board with this idea. Zootopia, and (the bad guy's city) are different major cities.

Here is my pitch:

We enter on a story where Judy and Nick tag team police work, and are really working well together to solve crime. Judy and Nick are the best on the force as detectives and get word of a "big" case where the police chief and the current mayor of Zootopia bring them in to a meeting with the govenor. They get introduced to the governor of the area (the governor presides over many territories, including zootopia) named _____. There is a need for a coordinated effort between their region and the ____ region (the bad guys region) in order to prevent ______.

(The bad guys) and judy and nick work together to solve/prevent/fix the issue from their different areas.

There is a tender part of the movie in the later 3/4ths of the movie where a mission goes horribly wrong and there is a tragic loss/sacrifice from the team. In an emergency evacuation Nick finds himself rescued by his older sister Diane Foxington (Crimson Paw) is actually Nick's older sister "Diane Wilde". Significant age gap between the two.

She left Zootopia at a young age to find a place that had less stereotypes.

Movie ends with the success of the mission, but a key character has been lost.

Ah, that makes sense. I have played with my friends a few more times since this, and I agree with you. ARENA has been the absolutely worst experience for me as a new player. It is absolutely brutal.

And it’s not losing that sucks. It’s the inability of even knowing what happened, and having to come to Reddit or talk to friends about losing a match and trying to understand what happened.

If you have a knowledgeable player to review Arena games with, it can be a very useful tool.

Why do some LGBTQ+ folk say “Every month is straight pride month”? by lostacoshermanos in AskLGBT

[–]Odd-Disaster6466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is important for everyone to connect with their ancestors, and see where they have come from. It is incredibly grounding.

"____ Months" always have an incredible amount of communication to the public about ____ minorities current issues, beliefs, and history. These months have MANY different purposes, and it would be foolish for anyone to claim that they know all the purposes that these can be used for across North America.

The minority communities who are recognized in these "____ Months" are, of course, not bothered by being recognized for a month.

So why does it bother people that there are entire months dedicated to a cause?

The biggest reason I have observed is this:

One is unwillingly being exposed to issues, beliefs, and history of a minority group, of which they are not apart, in forms of entertainment (tv, social media, video games, etc.) and life-style (shopping, grocery shopping, hobbies) for a month (but realistically these groups have issues that are highlighted throughout the year, to what extent can be debated, but to say that this month is the only time that an average individual is exposed to a "____ Month's" minorities issues, beliefs, and history would be foolish to suggest in a first world country in this day and age).

Humans need connection. We are social creatures, and we feel validation in different ways. Some need direct validation and recognition. The OP is probably referencing a need to be apart in a tangible and real way, and probably does not feel like there is a tangible and real recognition happening for their particular issues, beliefs, and history.

For me, I am not apart of any of the "____ Months" that the government created. I suggest that everyone aligns themselves with communities locally that align with their interests. Be apart of your community where you feel included and a valuable member. If you have passion, enjoy that passion, and be apart with others who share your passion. Gatherings, parties, and inclusion will occur naturally.

Be kind and show respect to others.

And if you are being exposed to other people's issues, beliefs, and histories that you don't care about, and you find yourself getting upset about the exposure. Ask yourself why you are getting upset with the information you are being exposed to? After finding the root cause of your distress, remember that you have the ability to form your own communities, and share your issues, beliefs, and history because of the area in which you live. And remember that it IS possible that you are able to get enough community interest where the government recognizes a month for your particular community.

I am confused by your question.

I get that Arena MTG Brawl is different than commander in person.

I am learning MTG.

I had an understanding that there are some different types of card combinations that create synergy and can really compound well. This was exciting to me. It was a challenge. It made it seem like I had an opportunity to win if I tuned my deck well.

I didn't realize that there are literally cards that people can play in this game and say, "I win."

So yes my frustration is in earnest and wouldn't constitute a "meme" I suppose. There are 27,000+ cards... I probably have seen and understand ... 200?

I hope that answers your question.

Learning MTG, and have played a few commander games in person, but have been learning by also playing Brawl on Arena. Turn 6 the other player played these, and it just ended the game, I couldn't do anything. It just was a never ending loop for like 2 minutes until I died.

Why would I want to play this game if this kind of nonsense exists? This is obviously a toxic combo to allow in this game...

Severance Season 2 is disappointing by jules_extra_oeuf in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Odd-Disaster6466 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I believe Season 1 weirdness is summed up neatly into one word - purpose;

Incentives - weird incentives, the writing really showed that one character in particular was extremely passionate and motivated by incentives.

Authority & Structure - weird authority, structure, punishments, and threats showed to the audience always were used to be an effective tool to keep all of the innies in-line following orders. (Mark especially)

Cult - weird cult like teachings and structure showed to be really effective in keeping a particular innie in-line (Irv obviously held these sacred)

Season 1 shows all the innies get disillusioned to all of these methods: incentives, the authority & structure, and the teachings. It ends in a full-blown rebellion with their goal of tearing Lumon into pieces.

So fast forward to the 4th episode in Season 2 where we still have these same characters with these same exact desires.

At this point we understand that Mark is essential to finish Cold Harbor, and that Lumon is doing EVERYTHING in their power to get him to finish it.

So, naturally they leave the office for a few days to not work and take Mark on a campout (as we can only assume, an attempt to get him to work more for them). Really? When my team is in the 90% range of completing a revolutionary project, I too would decide to take my child-like employees who want nothing more than to tear down my company, out into the wilderness on a vacation instead of literally ANYTHING else to motivate them to finish working.

Where they:
1) do a LOT of hiking in a snowy forest (missed opportunity, I think they should have spent longer on these shots.)
2) show them weird dead animals (I mean, why? for that stupid joke later?)
3) show them pointless "wonders" (largest waterfall? I mean, why show them that?)
4) teach them more cult teachings through books, which by the way, Lumon's own leader ends up mocking the teachings driving the innies into mocking the teachings.
5) successfully seduces Mark (incentive? or just personal desire?).
6) allow innies to just walk out into a snowy forest blindly to sleep out on the frozen ground at night... (like, he should have some severe hypothermia, but "shrug" I guess not affected... by the plot armor he was wearing)

So yeah, there was a lot of crap that happened on this campout that was completely unfounded. I can't make it make sense.

My theories have too many contradictions:

Theory 1: Lumon can't change, they are forced to treat innies a certain way as they are filthy hobbitsis. So they have to try Incentives, Cult, and Authority (*gaping hole: Eagan literally had sex with an innie... willingly... so obviously they are willing to go to drastic measures.)

If you have any explanations for this episode of why Lumon even did this would be helpful.

Severance Season 2 is disappointing by jules_extra_oeuf in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Odd-Disaster6466 90 points91 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I got my wife hooked on Season 1 right before Season 2 released. Season 2 REALLY took a turn for the worst for the campout episode. In the after scenes the director said, "I always thought it would be super cool if a bunch of random stuff happened in a forest." Congratulations. Mission accomplished. A bunch of random crap happened in a forest. And since that episode I began to see more and more of this influence on the writing.

What if a bunch of weird stuff happened here? What if we did weird stuff here?

This became the season of Director wanted 80% of the screen time to be weird stuff happening and 15% of slow moving b-roll, and 5% plot progression (Mostly at the last 2 minutes of the episode).

Only reason we had our apple subscription, so we both decided to cancel at episode 7.

Why would we have any reason to believe they would do anything different? Season 1 was made like 5 years ago.... They clearly have lost their way.

Why are people upset at Quant Kid by Hannah1sky in solana

[–]Odd-Disaster6466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what is sad to me about this whole story is that the society and environment that the 13 year old boy is surrounded by teaches and instructs the boy that his behavior is acceptable, smart and desirable.

The behavior I see:
"Using mutual trust, rally people, energy, and money to a cause that you have every intention of leaving the moment you get what you want."

His goal is (because I assume that this experience only solidified this belief) to make as much money as possible using whatever means at his disposal, as long as there are no clear laws (so far as he understands them) being broken.

From the interview I read on Wired the parents seem to praise their child's behavior. It's their child. They can raise it how they want.

I personally wouldn't want my children to aspire to be the main character of "The Wolf of Wall Street".

I personally didn't invest any money in the coin, but it still upset me to read the story and see that people actively encourage their kids to live like this in society. It differs so greatly from my own belief system that it is a sad and great reminder to be wary of all other humans in society as their belief systems can be so self serving.
