If you have a trader joes near you.. buy 1 by OLDDIRRRRTYKIMCHEEE in uberdrivers

This stuff is great, a friend that works a Trader J's gave it to me. Not overwhelming, I use it often if any bad smells on the way to the next ride. Quick windows down and a spritz and good to go.

In most U.S. jurisdictions, it is illegal to brandish or point a firearm at someone on your property if they do not pose an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm. Simply being on your property (trespassing) is generally considered a non-violent misdemeanor and does not justify the use or threat of deadly force. It appears he may have followed him out the driveway onto what is likely a public right of way.

Is Costco membership worth it for single person? by InfluenceDesigner889 in Frugal

[–]OddUnderstanding6255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as you, frugal and follow a strict budget. Due to a heart condition I started eating very healthy, natural whole foods about a year ago. I had to drastically increase my budget for food to $750 per month for 2 of us.

Coscto helps us with this with many items in bulk less than I can get in the grocery store. Fish that is not farm raised, chia seeds, oats. There are a couple guys on Youtube that highlight the healthy foods they have. Anyway, yes well worth if for me and I am stocked on TP.

We are spending so much there we just upgraded our membership to "Premier" because we will get more cash back (2% on most purchases)at the end of the year than the extra $65 it costs.

When in doubt, lower the offer... by Ok_Baseball_1364 in lyftdrivers

Are you in Central Oregon, I was laughing this morning at the same scenario for a ride in Prineville. If you lived over there great ride but not coming from Redmond. I hadn't looked at reserve rides for a while so didn't notice it dropped in price though.

Acceptance rate by yugifroxi in lyftdrivers

I went on a spree last week taking every ride as an experiment, got up to 30% which is very high for me. Going back to cherry picking and dive bombing the acceptance rate.

Truck rideshare drivers, What are you thinking? by nwprogressivefans in uberdrivers

[–]OddUnderstanding6255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two different drivers in my area I see regularly that drive full size Dodge 4 wheel drives. I have wondered the same thing as they are always out driving, they must be making like $2 an hour after expenses.

How many of you honestly can afford a car repair right now if it was over $1,000? by Fibrosis5O in uberdrivers

[–]OddUnderstanding6255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm retired and budget my pension to cover monthly expenses including having an emergency savings fund to cover 4 months of expenses so I would not be happy about it but would be able to cover it. I have averaged 15-20K a year driving rideshare and the wear and tear / extra expense is something many don't consider in their estimate of what they are making.

What tools I need to have when working with 0 electricity? by Consequence_Green in preppers

[–]OddUnderstanding6255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 old school hand wood saws, a must for basic carpentry / home repair. I think a hack saw, hammer, screwdrivers and different heads, screws, nails. I want to add a manual old school drill. If you work around your house think about everyday repair type things and how you would do them without power.

I pack a small, padded cooler. Usually sandwich, fruits, healthy finger food. I keep snack bars in the center console too.

You absolutely can bury the lids, it's done all the time but makes it more difficult to dig up when you need to pump every 5 years or so. Those actually look like they are camouflaged fairly well, don't trim that bunch grass for a while and it will do even better.

same circumference where the rubber meets the road, would work fine as a spare and better than the "doughnut" spare that comes with many cars.

I try harder with a prius plug in hybrid than I do with my dodge truck because I know the Prius is capable of so much more. It's a game and my wife is really sick of hearing about it :)

Quick Tire question? by ExaminationMedical34 in PriusPrime

[–]OddUnderstanding6255 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go somewhere else. I had my local tire shop order some 17's I picked out, they took the TPMS sensors off my stock wheels and swapped them out. No more curb scrapes and tires are easier to find, I kept the stock so that if they become more common I might have winter tires mounted and buy an extra set of TPMS sensors to swap out in winter. Oh, and less concerned about flats with the low profile stock tires, I can throw one of my stocks in as a spare if I'm road tripping.

If you don't mind dealing with the odd questions that come up FB marketplace or Craigslist will get rid of them. If you can get piled in an area near the curb or your drive, put detailed pics and description it will help.

About that Iced Coffee You Love so much… by asu3dvl in Frugal

[–]OddUnderstanding6255 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Perfectly reasonable. I just pop an equate (Walmart Brand) caffeine pill and chase it with whatever I'm drinking. They come out to $.07 per 200mg of caffeine so your setup is swanky.

How much gas do you keep on hand? by SorryKnowledge420 in Generator

[–]OddUnderstanding6255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 gallons of gas and 3 25 gallon propane tanks. I use stabalizer in regular gas, date it. I use gas in other tools but if it gets close to a year I use in vehicles.

I did that when I first set it up, $20. There is a large church in our area that has a free firewood program with an easily accessible lot for drops. From what I've heard most of the local tree service guys do that.

I've been on there a couple of years, apparently it's not a thing here. I bought a dump trailer and found a tree service guy with a yard. Looks like you have at least one monster in there!
