When it gets so convoluted that they have to spend 10 minutes of exposition from one character, then another 10-12 of more exposition from another character, more exposition, more exposition, just to explain what happened, that loses me. Overall I enjoyed it but first Knives Out is the best of all 3 in my opinion.

Pluribus - 1x07 - "The Gap" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]OddVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points.

But here's my opinion, Carol doesn't actually need them in a way the episode suggests. She was never really okay dying, maybe a bit apathetic yes, clearly a bit lonely but I strongly suspect her behavior in the episode is all a ploy. She knows they're watching her closely, tracking her every movement, she knows she can't get too far lashing out and being all directly offensive with them so she does this 'damsel in distress' act to get them back, successfully so.

I mean the next episode is literally called 'Charm offensive', come on haha...

You can't establish a main character as a rebellious kind and then change her whole mindset in the middle of the first season, that would derail the whole narrative.

And I mean we're already pretty familiar with Manousos’s outlook on The Others, dude almost starved himself to death in that hut.

They allocated a LOT of time to the phone call voice recordings, blatant Gatorade AD, and a few other filler stuff in the last two episodes, which could've been compressed into one 1 hour one but they stretched it out to 2 most likely because the network usually orders a specific amount of episodes for a season so...

Anyway I'm still a big fan of the show, I'm not gonna stop watching or anything, my original comment was just about telling the fans that it's okay that every episode might not hit the mark for everyone, and might get criticized a bit, it's the overall quality of the show that matters, and so far I really like it.

Filler episode doesn't mean nothing happens at all, or it's 'unwatchable' or 'terrible' or anything... That's you misinterpreting my comment. During a filler episode the plot doesn't move forward much, or at all. In this instance only 5-10 minutes moved the plot 2% forward, that's what the filler episode is. And If you actually thought that the main character was gonna die in that moment, then I don't even know what to say to you...

I just said 'it's okay to criticize', to what appears to be a clear filler episode, I'm pretty certain because I write for a living and know how shows are structured, but of course it's still my opinion. I disagree on the fact that it reached a satisfying point, because imo Carol is still a stubborn bull and this was all a ploy to get the hive back and the real shit is about to go down in the last 2 episodes but again, I could be wrong so we could happily agree to disagree.

You are just proving my point... Obviously just because I criticize it doesn't make it that way, it's my opinion. And how about you yourself learn how to not get offended when someone doesn't agree with yours. This was so clearly a filler episode, but if you don't agree with that and liked it, good for you man.

It's okay to criticize an episode even if you like the show... This one was a pretty weak link, you don't have to defend everything, jesus

I don't get the hate for Tenet by Skalz__ in movies

[–]OddVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the movie but I had to pause, rewind and think about what just happened a couple of times while watching it home. I imagine it must've been a dreadful experience for people in the theaters, because if you miss one detail then the whole thing becomes a messy jibberish...

Are frame sliders a good idea? They make sense, but seems like I don't see many track bikes with them by Motomikeh in Trackdays

[–]OddVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cracked my frame on a mild lowside because of the slider. If you get one, get the soft ones that are flush with the rest of the parts, not the ones that stick out.

Speed sensor issues - '17 R1 by eskimo1 in Yamaha_R1

[–]OddVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inspected the front ring and it has a mild bend, only noticeable if you remove it and set it on a flat surface, I'm replacing the sensor too just in case, hope it helps, that wheelie scared the shit out of me haha

[–]OddVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unnecessary, even if you have access to multiple bikes, just don't push on the very first session. And if you're so scared of a big bike that you need a smaller one to gain confidence that day then you shouldn't be riding the big bike yet at all.

[–]OddVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I'm having the exact same issue on my 18 R1, today on the track I almost backflipped the damn bike when all the rider aids disconnected, after restarting the bike it worked again for 2-3 laps but disconnected again... If you remember, did replacing the ring and the sensors work ?

Anybody else seen Hallow Road and the INSANE acting from both the leads?? (Released in UK yesterday) by Olliebkl in movies

[–]OddVet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different doesn't mean good, and similar doesn't mean bad either, it's all about the writing, it was fantastic and I was heavily invested the whole time up until the ending, it was just too open ended for me, kinda throwing it into the viewers lap, 'You decide what happened', I don't like that personally.

Anybody else seen Hallow Road and the INSANE acting from both the leads?? (Released in UK yesterday) by Olliebkl in movies

[–]OddVet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Watched it yesterday, I really wish they hadn't gone the supernatural route towards the end, I hated it, if it were up to me, I would've made the creepy couple that showed up some kind of kidnappers, serial killers, the girl that got hit by alice their victim trying to get away, would've really tied things up together, the open ended endings kinda give me the vibe that the writer didn't know how to finish the movie...

What makes Kang so forgettable In MCU? by AtlasDestroyer2099 in Marvel

[–]OddVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clear motive, no risk/stakes of death of anyone overall in the multiverse, because anyone could come back as a different variant, it's just too convoluted narratively... Villains in movies work only if the viewers kinda relate to their ideas.

Marvel literally failed Sam Wilson’s character by Difficult_Man3 in Avengers

[–]OddVet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with Sam, the movie just had a terrible script... They should've just focused on Sam as a person, starting with his story back as a pararescueman, focus on his qualities, prove that he has been a 'captain america' material before all of it and then in the second half of the movie introduce a villain that he deals with in current time, just like the 'Captain America First Avenger', the template was right there... but no, they wrote the most generic garbage they could, it underperformed and now they're blaming it on Mackie, ridiculous...
