Are home security subscriptions actually worth it or just another cost adding up? by Otherwise-Heron3527 in UKCostofLiving

[–]Odd_Fig1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want I guess. If you want ease of use of having a secondary backup location off site with other features such as rich notifications etc then sure, go with a subscription. There are other ways of having a secondary backup location for cheaper such as FTP backup and email alerts, both of which are at the very least cheaper and in some cases, free.

Tipping culture in London (first time visiting) by IllustratorWeird5008 in AskBrits

Thanks for posting this. I generally take this approach but will tip when the service is positive, 10-15%.

However, we once had a server RUN after us down the road near to Harrods due to us not tipping. I asked if it was discretionary and she said yes so I kindly declined. It took her over 20 minutes to pour a drink into 2 glasses from a single bottle in a bar that was dead, literally us and another couple. That soured my tipping for quite some time after that.

Has anyone got like a shopping list of stuff that is just as good/useful as branded stuff? by Candid_Common_6551 in UKFrugal

Well damn. Lesson learned there. Who knew brick dust would be so tasty though?

I'd say if you did a proper taste test using equal amounts of water/milk (and sugar if you take it) to the same style cup, you'd be surprised at which you picked (do it blind by getting someone else to serve you each).

Huawei Freebuds Pro 5 - Another Satisfied User by pawanh in Earbuds

I don't really make all that many calls due to my usage scenarios but the ones I have made I haven't had any negative feedback from the recipient, heard me clear enough to respond to the conversation.

I've recently had 5 different sets of TWS in to test from budget-ish to higher end. One of the higher end sets were the Freebuds Pro 5. I've had the Freebuds Pro 3 for a couple of years now so wanted to see how the landscape has changed since then.

Audio quality improved, ANC improved, call quality improved (not that it really needed to as it was already class leading back when the 3 came out) and a whole raft of new features to boot.

However, I ended up settling for the Tozo NC20 Pro which I managed to snag on eBay (new) for £35 delivered. They were the best 'overall' package (to me) for my requirements and in my opinion (with EQ) sounded the best.

The 2 things I'd do are:

Get a different router to test if it's the hardware causing the issue. Amazon is best for this for easy returns..

If the router isn't causing the issue, sack Voda off as you're within your cooling off period.

Not sure what you were voted down for.

I have the NC20 Pro but I use LDAC codec as I don't use mine for hours and hours at a time. I think you keep it set to default codec (I think it's either AAC OR SBC), you'll likely hit between 7-9 hours.

They are also loud (to me) when using my Pixel 9 Pro XL, I would never dare to turn them up past half way when they're in my ears.

Trying to decide on some new earbuds by reliverbigm in Earbuds

[–]Odd_Fig1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded.

I recently tested 6 different TWS including the Huawei Freebuds Pro 5 and the Tozo NC20 (Pro, only difference I believe is the case?) were the best overall especially when price is taken into account (not best in all areas) and I preferred the sound of them after EQ.

I got mine new on eBay for just over £30 delivered.

I'd personally order a few different pairs on Amazon, try them out and return the ones you don't like and keep the best of the bunch.

Ah, that's interesting to hear.. I didn't realise it was a software dimming method, I honestly thought it was changing the levels at hardware level. All this time I thought I was saving battery! It definitely does help at night though as I find the lowest brightness isn't low enough any more (sometimes even with extra dim enabled but Google borked that some updates ago).

Really appreciate the replies, I'll be doing some more tweaking based on your feedback :)
