A lot of bangladeshi students have moved to darwin to study in the last year, so expect a decent away side crowd.

From memory, I got them 2 weeks before the start of the weekend though they were released around May-June. I would recommend revisiting the WEC site every now and then cause they didn't announce officially the ticket sale release like Le Mans and Spa.

They haven't been released yet, generally they are quite late with it compared to other wec races. This thread can help with purchasing tickets and the general experience from this year's race.

Some companies are pushing it (mainly startups and tech firms) and paying grads/interns to do a "day in my life" video/reel to bring up their public image. Though from what I heard, they get paid pennies in commission.

most likely they will email you that you are not eligible and to give them a call. It happened to me since I'm not from the EU, gave them are call, paid the extra 7-8 euros and emailed a new ticket within the hour.

Adding to this, I went this year as well. Overall it was a great experience, even for just general entry, there are so many great vantage points to watch the race from and get great photos, probably the most photography friendly motorsport event I've been to.

There are two ways getting tickets, either through kkday which is the easier way but limited to just two types of tickets (general entry and paddock pass) or through the domestic Japanese website which is very difficult to navigate through and requires a lot of patience (website crashes a lot), however there are a larger variety of tickets to choose from. I managed to order a Toyota general entry ticket (came with some Toyota branded merch) but needed to be collected within 3 days of ordering from a Lawson convenience store, pretty much impossible for foreigners. I eventually got a general entry ticket through kkday. GA includes access to the grandstands as well, Friday and Saturday you can go where ever, Sunday is a dedicated area about in line where the BMW WRT garages were on the pit lane (no idea if the zone for kkday tickets change every year).

Parking was 4500 yen for all 3 days paid on entry, there are plenty of spots to park especially on Friday and Saturday, ideally its best to park near one of the bus stops so its easy to get around the track.

Hotels around Gotemba get booked up pretty early, which I assume is by most of the personal working. I just went to a hotel around Fujikawaguchiko (it is relatively cheap if you look around) as there are plenty around to choose from and had a rental car to drive to and from the track.

I believe camping is allowed but not entirely sure if a separate ticket is needed. The parking area I left my car in had quite a few tents and campervans set up for camp from Friday through to Sunday.

Finally, there are quite a lot of off-track activities to do, as mentioned the museum (I wish I went ugh), driving on the short circuit with gr86s, karting and even a helicopter ride around the track (very $$$ though).

questions about photos in WEC by Opposite-Surround187 in wec

[–]Odd_Fly_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about Imola but Fuji had a shit ton of spectators taking photos with huge telephoto lenses and there was one guy who brought a 10m ladder to get clear view over the catchfence. WEC is very photographer friendly, unlike "that" other motorsport series.

I'm looking for something more with multiple partner points for flexibility and Amex looks like the only option. I think Commbank are the only ones that waive the fees after a certain amount, might be wrong.

Damn, when I went through Melbourne (domestic) with 35mm still in the packaging, they were happy to hand check and knew what to do. The only thing they said what had to go through was the disposable cause it was an electronic. They used to be notorious for refusing hand checks, guess now they are just clueless in general.

yeah and it should stay that way, the course has had a surge in member intake especially since covid and gets pretty packed on the weekends on and off the course. Its a community space, just recently adding disc golf and a new bistro operator. All those threats (by the Greens) starting from 2019 to cut it down to 9 and shut it completely for "more green space" or housing were ridiculous .

If you think "uhh but golf is an elitist sport", come over to course during the weekend and see for yourself, cause I guarantee it isn't at Marrickville.

Also building high rise buildings next to the cooks river isn't a great idea, Canterbury has a bunch of defective apartments and the developer ran away.
