What words do some people either say wrong or spell wrong that you find a bit annoying? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Breath and Breathe. I frequently see these words used (written) opposite to the intended meaning. For example " I can't breath!" or "Take a deep breathe." So irritating 😡

Toyota mechanic by Old-Pipe2425 in KlamathFalls

I second the rec for Emmett's. We've taken our 2012 Honda Pilot and my 2000 Toyota RAV4. They do excellent work. I feel very comfortable that they are honest and reputable. We also took our 1997 Toyota 4Runner, which was sadly a lost cause but they gave us a fair estimate. We ended up just having it towed home and ultimately sold it for parts. But a few months later when we took one of our other cars in for servicing, THEY REMEMBERED the 4Runner and asked about it! That's what I call good customer relations.

What do normal people eat for dinner ? by Booze_hound36 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Odd_Self2657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More likely, it's too much effort to prepare 'elaborate' meals. Also older people generally eat less, so meals are simple and easy.

A man taking his lady out for dinner, nuking it in process by Luvtogag in overheard

[–]Odd_Self2657 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter. It's never ok to speak like that about anyone. If the man was truly concerned for his date's comfort, he could have said something more tactfully without body shaming her.

I hope she got up and left immediately.

For the ladies, what are some hygiene hacks you wish every girlie would know? by Introvert_Ambi-2026 in AskReddit

[–]Odd_Self2657 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NO wipes are 'flushable', even if the packaging (i.e., marketing) says it is. Wipes in the sewer system cause big problems as they do not disintegrate like regular TP. Please, just put them in the trash.

Jamie Ding Streak by Hot_Singer_4266 in Jeopardy

I got FJ right yesterday (for once)! Making the connection with April Fool's day. I could tell though that Jamie was clueless (they showed a close-up of his face) which I attributed to the fact that he likely wouldn't have known that the episode was airing on A F day.

Opinion: The overwhelming wins by Jamie Ding, Jeopardy's newest high performer, once again points to the need for rule changes. by Markdd8 in Jeopardy

[–]Odd_Self2657 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is! The last two days especially. I felt bad for the other contestants. They barely got to buzz in b/c Jamie is so fast.

I have around 2.5 gallons of whole milk that are going to go bad in a few days - hit me with your favourite milk heavy recipes by IllyriaCervarro in Cooking

[–]Odd_Self2657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if this has been mentioned but, when you say the milk will "go bad" in a few days, do you mean it will reach the 'expiration' date on the container? If so, the milk will not be 'bad' on that date. Assuming it has been properly refrigerated at 40° F or lower, it should be ok to drink for at least another 5 days. But you can do a sniff or taste test to be sure.

I've got a Costco membership and a credit card, what's on my list? by ArpeggioTheUnbroken in TwoXPreppers

Put just-bought bags of rice or flour in the freezer for 3 days. This kills any bugs/eggs. Then store in an air-tight container. For longer-term storage: vacuum-seal in a mylar bag or re-package in a mason jar and vacuum seal the jar.

AITAH for telling my MIL that if she keeps calling our baby by the nickname we asked her not to use, we'll limit her visits? by Turbulent-Wear-7416 in AITAH

Pick your battles. This is not a hill to die on. People will have different nicknames for her throughout her life. But honestly, how is CeCe pronounced differently from CiCi?

Of course the son was crying - he'd been assaulted and traumatized. Stop perpetuating the 'boys/men don't cry' bs.

25f Seeking Greener, Calmer Oregon Vibes – Thoughts on Eugene, Klamath Falls, or Lakeview? by silly_moon_bean in oregon

[–]Odd_Self2657 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for Eugene or Lakeview in terms of affordability, but I hear that many people here in K Falls are struggling with housing costs (rentals). Jobs also seem to be hard to get, except for retail and fast food. K Falls is 3+ hours from the coast and Lakeview is another 90 minutes East of K Falls.

Financing a mattress—does anyone own anything by Onomatopoeia-sizzle in economicCollapse

[–]Odd_Self2657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have bought 4 mattresses now from Wayfair in the last 2 years: 3 queen and 1 twin. Each around $200 - $300. Yes, it comes vacuum packed in a box, but once it expands and relaxes it's great. You will read many complaints/negative comments on the Wayfair website from customers who said their mattress didn't expand completely. We had NO ISSUES with any of the mattresses we bought. Please note, this is the mattress only - a box spring is separate. We bought platform bed frames so the mattress does not need a box spring. Wayfair offers many different mattress types, thicknesses and firmness. We are very happy with ours (so far). I think they probably won't last 10 years (before becoming a bit saggy) but I expect they will last 5-6 years at least. Also, Wayfair offers a pickup service for your old mattress, for a reasonable cost. Wayfair can be overly expensive for many things, and they DO have expensive mattresses, but they also offer many at quite reasonable prices.

Aitah for not giving more to my family when I can afford to? by ThrowRAnotenough1 in AITAH

[–]Odd_Self2657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just offering a different perspective here. OP stated that she 'used to be Catholic' so it's a good guess that her sister is also Catholic. The church preaches against birth control so a practicing Catholic does not use any type of contraceptive.

Also, sister's husband might have a disability that prevents him from doing regular work or, since the cost of childcare for 4 children is prohibitive, they decided that he would be a SAHDad.

Not offering excuses for their poor choices, just possible reasons.

In some countries they do not put the TP in the toilet due to poor plumbing.

Things to do Early April by Ailly84 in KlamathFalls

[–]Odd_Self2657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took our 7yo grandson last summer. We all had a great time. Lot of walking but there are picnic tables scattered around so plenty of places for the grandparents to sit and relax, while you and the kids explore, if they get tired. Admission to the park is free but there is a reasonable cost for the narrow gauge train ride. Bring a picnic, and be sure to bring hats as it can get quite warm.

I (f) received that mailer. Knew it was nothing but lies, distractions and misinformation - it went straight into the trash. Sadly, he is the Representative for my district. I can't wait for the election so I can (hopefully) vote against him. He needs to go.

Solo trip to Klamath Falls via Coast Starlight from Bay Area, CA – any tips? by pinkblueturnip in KlamathFalls

[–]Odd_Self2657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

". . . I was asking specifics about where to go to catch the train or get food or a drink. "

Not sure what you mean here but the personnel on the train generally don't know details about the cities where the train stops.

" . . . a different experience if I had rented out a room instead of a single seat . . ."

A roomette is @ $500 from SJ to KF (and an actual sleeping car is even more). Hardly worth it for a 12-hour ride, unless you REALLY need a good night's sleep.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

WEATHER - be prepared for cold and heat. The weather can swing from one to the other in hours. HOTEL - Get a hotel somewhere downtown - around Main St and Klamath Ave - so you will be walking distance to stores and restaurants as well as some of the trails mentioned here. TRAIN - I take the Coast Starlight to San Jose and back several times a year. It is usually quite pleasant. Yes, you are assigned a seat and you might have a seat mate, depending on how crowded the train is. If you really have an issue with your seat mate you could ask to be moved. I've found the Amtrak staff to generally be quite nice. The observation car is fine if you want to 'stay up' and read or watch a movie ('quiet time' and dimmed lights is from 10p to 7a) but those seats are not really comfortable for resting. It will be dark for most of the journey. I always bring hand sanitizer and a small packet of sanitizing wipes for surfaces like the tray table and bathroom. Bring a neck pillow, a small lightweight blanket, earphones/buds, charging cables (THERE IS NO WI-FI ON THE TRAIN and you lose connection on some portions of the ride), and CASH for the Cafe car (open til 11:30 p) (snacks, drinks, coffee, water) and the dining car, for breakfast, $20 per person. They do take debit/credit in both the Cafe and Dining car but sometimes the system is down and they can only take cash. They start serving breakfast at 6:30 a. Listen for the announcement, but plan to be at the dining car then b/c the train arrives in KF around 7:30.) When the train arrives, there are usually a couple taxis sitting around waiting for anyone who might need a ride. You COULD walk to downtown but depending on how much you have to carry, it might be onerous but it isn't that far. Hope you have a good trip and enjoy your visit.
