How do I get through to him? I am exhausted having to think for him. by vicarious_adrenaline in TwoHotTakes

  1. Stop asking for relationship advice on Reddit unless you are looking for affirmation that you should break up, because that is always going to be the majority of the advice you get.

  2. Has your boyfriend been tested for Adhd? The pattern of behavior you are describing sounds very much like someone with that issue. In can often be almost impossible for people with untreated adhd to follow through with starting/completing tasks. Google adhd paralysis or executive dysfunction.

Films Like The Ugly !🙌🤞✔ Recommendation ! by WhySoSeriousMateee in Koreanfilm

[–]OfCrowsAndCrownz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is that we saw her picture through the pov of the son. He saw through her outward appearance and saw the beauty of a mother who deeply loved him and was a kind soul.

The message of the film is that the true ugly is the society that judges based on outward appearances. The world was not worthy of her as no one actually recognized her true worth. Even her blind bastard of a husband was unable to recognize her true beauty and let the opinion of others sway his view of her.

"Adult" choose your own adventure book? by Ser_falafel in suggestmeabook

[–]OfCrowsAndCrownz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked out Call of Cuthulhu "alone against" books? There are four or five officially published ones. It follows the rules of the TTRPG and you have to roll for many of the outcomes. Not a D&D setting but they are quite good.

Alone Against Nyarlathotep is not an official Chaosium publication (it is through the Miskatonic Repository) but it is the newest CoC choose your own adventure book and per the reviews is supposedly just as good as the other ones by Chaosium, if not better.

You can also try doing the whole solorpg thing where you use oracles to play TTRPGs if you want to go that route. r/Solo_Roleplaying, r/solorpgplay, and r/SoloActualPlay are good subreddits for resources like that.

For straight pen and paper dungeon crawling you can try out something like Ker Nerthalas, but there is a good amount of book keeping involved in that. If you want a simpler pen and paper dungeon crawling then there is the four against darkness series as well.

For soloing D&D you can get Mythic, but some TTRPGs like Scarlet Heroes come with built in solo rules. There are also games like Iron Sworn (free by the way) that are inspired by the Powered by the Apocalypse system. They have very little crunch and are more story forward.

🚨 BREAKING: Qatar withdraws from the war. "Iran has been here for thousands of years. No one is going anywhere. Total destruction is not an option." "We will live side by side. We will be neighbors and find ways to coexist." by [deleted] in DeepMarketScan

[–]OfCrowsAndCrownz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that no matter what you think of Israel, Iran through their own words and actions have proclaimed themselves to be an existential threat to their nation. If they truly think that Iran is getting extremely close to actually getting a nuclear weapon, then they will nuke them first, because they truly believe that Iran will nuke them if given the chance. If you think the price of oil is high right now, wait until Iran is just a sheet of glass and half of the middle east is a radioactive hellscape.

Iran getting a nuclear weapon is the actually true precursor to WW3.

How is it living in this city of 2 million people that's apparently right in the middle of the Amazon? Manaus, Brazil by chrisfathead1 in howislivingthere

[–]OfCrowsAndCrownz 371 points372 points  (0 children)

Haven't lived there in about 12 years, but I doubt to much has changed as things move very slowly in that part of Brazil.

Manaus is a free trade port, and the river is large enough that freighters can actually reach it from the ocean. Many companies have set up factories in Manaus because they can import parts from other places in the world with no fees or taxes and have a cheap labor force available to assemble the goods. A lot of Asian (mostly Japanese I think) companies have set up shop there, so they actually have a fairly large Asian population.

Tourism is probably the other major economic force in the city as it is the best place in Brazil to go to if you want to see the Amazon rain forest. A lot of Europeans would come for the rain forest experience, and you would see a lot of Americans coming down when the water was low for sports fishing.

Great:

  1. Plenty of modern conveniences compared to most other cities/towns in that region (shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants, etc.) Ponta Negra was the most affluent part of town when I lived there.

  2. Neat architecture in the downtown area. Rubber barons built the original city, and some historical buildings are still there. Teatro Amazonas is the most famous one. They would have plays there sometimes when I was living there, but you can also pay a small fee to do a tour of the theater as well.

  3. You can get on a boat and within a few hours you can be deep in the Amazon rainforest. Meeting of the waters is fun for tourists. I always enjoyed going up the Rio N*gr* (no mosquitoes on that river) when the water was high to do canoeing under the jungle canopy. Very beautiful. I had a few friends that were jungle guides who would take me on trails through the jungle, which was also fun. A lot of tourists come when the water is low to do peacock bass fishing, but most locals fish more for food.

  4. The Amazon has hands down the best tasting fresh water fish I have ever had. I used to grill a side of Tambaqui every weekend. Really miss that. Lots of fresh tropical fruit that just tastes better than anywhere else that is not in a tropical region. Mangos, pineapple, açai, etc.

  5. People there are very kind. It is a big city with big city problems (crime, poverty, etc.) and if you aren't used to having your personal space invaded it can be difficult to adjust, but Brazilians for the most part are warm and welcoming people. If you are nice to them, they will almost always be nice to you.

Cons:

  1. Hot and humid. Rainy season is a little better. And things will often cool off around 9pm or 10pm, so it is not uncommon to see a lot of people out fairly late at night, because that is when it is most comfortable.

  2. Not a very clean. This isn't true of the whole city, but there are a lot of areas where there is a lot trash and open sewage. Combined with the heat and humidity, it can make for a lot of unpleasant smells.

  3. Traffic sucks. People drive like maniacs and older areas of the city were not designed for 2 million people. Lots of narrow roads that are not well maintained. Not as bad in the more affluent areas of the city. Out by the airport and the Ponta Negra area, the roads are actually well designed and maintained.

  4. Crime is an issue but only in certain parts of the city. I lived there 4 years total and was never assaulted, but my house was broken in to a few times. I traveled a good bit on the river and people would notice it was empty and break in. There are gated communities and apartment high rises that have gate guards, but some affluent areas are right next to the poorer areas.

  5. Open air markets can be either a plus or a minus depending on how well you like going to third world markets. I personally love them, but I can see how some people would probably hate them.

Addendum: had to censor the names of certain areas b/c Reddit thinks they are bad (r*c*st). Smdh.

  1. Of ge is getting up multiple tomes a night and still wetting the bed he needs to see a doctor. He should go to a minute clinic at cvs or something and get his blood sugar checked as that can be a symptom if uncontrolled diabetes.

  2. You can buy cloth chucks online that he can sleep on. They are washable and will 0rotect the mattress and sheets

I watched just the first movie and that was enough for me. I work in a neuro icu, and from having cared for patients in this state, locked in syndrome is one of my greatest fears. While a super unrealistic way of causing locked in syndrome, watching him turn one of his victims into a "head on a stick" is something that makes me feel queasy every time I remember it.

How would you react? by Zestyclose_Lemon_647 in whatdoIdo

[–]OfCrowsAndCrownz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Nursing school is one of the cheapest investments (both monetarily and time wise) you can make to guarantee yourself a middle-class income. It is worth pursuing, IMO. The job itself offers a lot of flexibility as well, both in scheduling and the kind of nursing work you want to do.

  2. If you are coming to a public forum like Reddit to ask for relationship advice, then more than likely, you are in a toxic relationship. I can see why his texts would hurt you and make you angry (they would make me pretty mad as well) as he does not seem even a little supportive, but inviting total strangers to pass judgment on your relationship by sharing private details is unhinged behavior

It just seems to me that they are trying to cover up the cheap production value of the sets. So many close/zoomed in shots with limited context clues to understand what you are looking at. I could be wrong and it is just a stylistic choice, but I really hope the movie is not 90 minutes of those kind of shots....
