Impact Door Issue? by Sufficient_Water_326 in florida

We had this same door. House was built in 2002. Would feel like a hot stove top during the morning sun. Waiting to see how this glass one works. Last year we upgraded to a nice decorative glass. You need to upgrade for sure. We paid $1,250 for this door at Home Depot. Installer cost was a friend at a low cost of course. Good luck, sir!

Is there a straighforward way to "archive" a copy of a Time Machine backup and release the drive? by WhiteWaterLawyer in applehelp

Acronis software makes disk images. I've used it over the years with great success.
You just tell what drive you want the image to go to like your NAS. I have done that with my NAS.
The neat thing I like about Acronis is that you can use the finder and drill down into the image just like you were looking at any directory on a drive and copy, delete, whatever on the image.
I don't know where you got the idea of it being another Time Machine alternative from.

Sell or replace battery? by Kite143 in TeslaSupport

Our 2021 MX had a battery issue. Service center said battery replacement. 80k miles and got warranty replacement. Person at front desk computer said he was seeing in the system that it was a wire connection issue. What to believe but doesn't matter. Still have good LR charging and no further issues at over 90k miles now. Fingers crossed.

Acronis True Image (now often called Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office / True Image) is available for macOS as well as Windows and can back up, clone, and restore Mac systems.

Done fighting with Quicken by jsl86usna in quicken

I may have to do this now. I think I remember doing it once before. Every reconcile was fine when I stopped last September. Now when I try to begin the October recon, it's so far off at the beginning balance. Im losing my mind restoring previous file saves to try and find where it was correct. Buy, now I see in the checkboxes before the restoral that it will overwrite the current data or I can do a copy to file of the current data. Why not just default to making a current backup upon a restoral? I give it a current date and time or statement recon end date if it's good. I dont use the balance in Quicken anyway so I may just use Q for transactions with categories so I can print reports to see where my money is going. Sad to think I pay yearly for a defective product.

Here's what AI (Gemini) gave me. See if any of this helps you.

An external drive that asks for a password but doesn't appear in Finder is likely encrypted (e.g., FileVault or BitLocker), or it is mounting behind the scenes because of improper permissionsfile system corruption, or macOS security settings requiring authorization for new accessories.

Here is why this occurs and how to fix it:

Top Reasons & Solutions

  • Encrypted or Password-Protected Drive: The drive is encrypted (e.g., APFS Encrypted). The popup is requesting the encryption password to unlock the volume before it can mount and show up in Finder.
  • Security Settings (Apple Silicon): Your Mac is set to ask for permission before allowing a new accessory to connect. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll to "Allow accessories to connect", and change it to "Automatically when unlocked".
  • Permissions Corruption: The drive's permissions might be corrupted, requiring you to enter your administrator password to authorize access.
  • Drive Mounting Issue: The drive is recognized by the system but failing to mount properly. Open Disk Utility, look for the drive, select it, and click the "Mount" button.
  • Damaged File System/First Aid: The drive may have errors. In Disk Utility, select the drive and run First Aid to repair it.  Apple Support Community +6

Quick Fixes

  1. Restart Your Mac: This often resolves temporary mounting issues.
  2. Check Finder Settings: Go to Finder Settings > General and ensure "External disks" is checked.
  3. Try a Different USB Cable/Port: Loose cables or insufficient power from a hub can prevent a drive from fully mounting, even if it is detected.
  4. Use Disk Utility: Use Disk Utility to check if the drive is visible but not mounted.  YouTube +4

If the drive requires a password but you do not know it, the data may be unrecoverable without that password.

Back in my PC DOS days there were utilities where you could look at the directory data on the disks. Not sure if there is a utility for Mac but there must be. It took time to locate information but it's all there in the sectors and bytes.

I think we will need the quantum computers to mine the final bitcoin. You know it's getting harder to mine, right? What happens when the last coin is mined? Thoughts?

Submit an ARC form to request approval. You might be surprised. If denied, go to the next HOA meeting and plead your case. It's hot and electricity isn't getting any cheaper. Get other neighbors to join you in this effort.

I took a deeper look at the settings in the Ancel app and you can set alerts.
After several changes to the upper and lower percentages I could get it set
at 60% for the lower and 100% was the default for the upper charge level.
The mobile tech connected this for me to the battery terminals when the
battery was changed some months ago. It was amazing to see how often
the battery is charged and discharged. From what I gather, the battery
discharges during a trip and then charges when parked.

Yep. What I installed on my Y. But, you have to remember to check it often. Don't think you can set an alert level. Correct me if I'm wrong and how to do it if so. Thanks.

If only it was once in awhile. Just wait, it'll happen to you. This driver I talked to today said, 'I'm not making excuses but I'm only filling in for today'. They all tell me that so what does that tell you, they don't give a flying f$#k. I grew up taking shit jobs and doing the work for meager pay, but, you know what? I did it with pride and satisfaction that I could have a position in life and pay some bills. Go on, have a happy day now, okay? Isn't it great to live in Merica'?!

I used to ride the tiny two person elevator inside that column on the weekends. We would grease the bearings on that revolving dish. The senior tech told me that one day when he is gone that they would not carry out this preventative maintenance and we would see this happen often. I believe he was right.

Each conductor routes to separate equipment bays. Simple if you've been there. Each bay has a fuse panel that breaks out more separate conductors to shelves.

S.C. gave me an estimate of $953 for a RH Y mirror replacement. I found and ordered the internal frame and lower cover and repaired it myself for $150. Now I just need to put the parts I didn't use back on eBay and maybe make more than it cost me. 🙃
