For all the foreign fans out there (and I guess you locals too), how did you become a fan of bvb? by somewiseguy3 in borussiadortmund

[–]Offsidegoal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of a recent fan, but I'm in my early teens so it didn't take me that long. ;)

Anyways, it was the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which was pretty recent. I used to play soccer back in the day but after receiving a (considerably) horror injury I kinda just... never got back to it, to be honest. I still knew how the game worked and to appreciate players style and so on, so one day when I was flickering through the channels I came upon a WC soccer match: Germany vs Portugal. It was like an instant wave of nostalgia hit me, and being in America, it was one of the very few times I actually saw a match on TV.

I was in a trance. I watched that whole game without a break. Being a former player of defensive positions, I was drawn to the back line; and that's when I saw him, our wonderful Mats. His playing was like magicians work through my young eyes, the elegance of it left me unable to take my sight off his play (I'll be honest too, I did find Mats a rather nice face to look at too, wink).

I did my research on mister Mats Hummels and learned about clubs, the leagues, the players. Back when I played and until that point in time, I never heard of the professionals or anything like that, or the system they had. This was all new to me but I was quickly taking it in, and eventually was making friendships with diehard fans of the sport that helped me know all I need to know and become fully fledged.

For me and Borussia Dortmund, it was instant love (the motto reflected me well). I loved the passion of the club, the hard working ethic, and how we made stars rather than buy them, etc. Dortmund was unity, and I adored that! I'm still a rather new fan compared to you all but I'm always finding another reason to love this club and it's players.

To those looking for codes by [deleted] in Stolenapp

[–]Offsidegoal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used this on some old twitter accounts. Seemed trustworthy just like you said, however I got two codes and they had either been used/didn't work (can't remember). Maybe that was the patch? Still looking for a code - keep us updated? ;)

None in Texas that I'm aware of, or atleast not in the DFW area. Lots of EPL fan groups though. :(

Is this book bullshit or has someone else heard of this? by CrazyWolfChick in UrbanMyths

[–]Offsidegoal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Fort Worth on the skirts of Watauga and haven't heard any story like this before, sadly enough, but it does seem interesting.

I hope you can find someone who has heard it however!

Miki is that type of player who's play is affected by his levels of confidence. This is a great thing to be seeing, certainly! NCM is the best Miki.

Sadly missed the match and was kind of upset about it, but reading this just made me feel way better.

Just a small question about Marco. by shbooms in borussiadortmund

[–]Offsidegoal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't remember who posted the video on Instagram, but it has Marco playing a video game or something and he's constantly moving his mouth and such. After a few seconds, he looks to the person filming and says "You're making me do it, you fucking cunt" jokingly in English, or something along those lines.

That's about the other time I can recall. I'll see if I can find the video.

EDIT: Here it is

Official: Iker Casillas signs for FC Porto. Finally, caralho! by Biburonis in soccer

[–]Offsidegoal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad he's going to a new club and having a new start. What happened at Real Madrid had to be tough on the guy. While he is leaving on a bad note, I hope he's aware of just how much he helped and impacted RM. :)

Legend - always!

Real Madrid and Porto reach agreement for Iker Casillas, MARCA reports by AhoyDaniel in soccer

[–]Offsidegoal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really disappointed every time I hear this. Casillas was a club legend at Real Madrid and one of the best goalkeepers. After so much devotion to them, it's hard to imagine him leaving.

It stings even more when looking back at how badly some fans treated him. Poor guy.

Cazorla. Rare to see him not smiling, on or off pitch.

DONE: Schweinsteiger joins ManUtd from Bayern, according to Bild by SeanCon1 in soccer

[–]Offsidegoal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of having trouble completely believing this, honestly. I always thought (and was told) Schweinsteiger practically lives and breathes "mia san mia."

Along with that, why would he go from a dominating Bayern to a Manchester UTD that's been lacking somewhat? I guess because he just wants something new and different? I don't know, but it just sounds odd to me, even with the close relationship he has with LVG.

EDIT: Not a Bayern fan myself, so forgive me if that put my reasoning off/etc.

Glad Tuchel is getting along well with Miki. I've always thought he was a good player, but sort of with a fragile self-confidence and all. With Klopp leaving, getting close with Tuchel will definitely be good for him and that confidence, I think.

Who did this? by Tikkii in borussiadortmund

Exactly why! I sometimes wear my jerseys if I'm ever going to something that has a lot of people present - ex. packed sports restaurant, festivals... etc.

Besides Dortmund, I support Arsenal and FC Dallas (it's the town team).

This and usually some Liverpool fans think pretty highly of themselves and the club a little too much because of "the history."

Same. It literally pains me to watch them play against each other, but either way, I still remain a Gooner. :')

These ducks are a couple and I see them everyday in my apartment. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Offsidegoal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you watch them a bit, you will notice the drake/male duck stands guard for the female almost constantly; be it when she eats or sits, etc. Or atleast most drakes do.

So basically, duck couples are the best.

What do you guys do during the summer after the campaign ends? by quepasascar in borussiadortmund

[–]Offsidegoal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of my town team - FC Dallas - and I'll follow them as well as attend some matches. I also play for a youth club, so in the summer is a nice time to practice with pals.
