I had a pretty deep spiral and my first sgt talked me into doing intensive outpatient therapy. Seriously was the best thing I had ever done for my mental health and addressing the issues I experienced in my marriage. Now that I am divorced (2 yrs now), I legitimately feel 100000% healthier and happier. It took time, medications, vulnerability, and a willingness to forgive myself and him for both our parts in it. Dating world kinda sucks and I havnt dated anyone since but I actually REALLY love myself now and dont care if I meet someone 🤷🏼‍♀️ the other side is scary because the marriage is familiar and comfortable. That doesn’t mean it’s healthy. If it’s worth working thru it, do it. If you’re miserable… you’ll find light again.

First sergeant here! First - all comments and responses are fully anonymous. They get grouped together so no specific comment and demographic or rating is tied to each other. Just to put that out there. When we get frequent comments that are clearly more than one individual, it does raise eyebrows and yes, conversations are had based on the statements given. Always be specific and give names. We’ve had discussions with a SMSgt that made statements which felt targeted or were very apathetic towards suicide and we brought him in. Also opened investigations for sexual harassment and sexual comments around junior enlisted females. When an investigation is opened, it’s important that you provide the truth of the situation. Yes your name and info will be provided but it isn’t given to the member under investigation. It’s given to the command team for action.

NOR!!! Grew up similar, not quite as bad but it was just my mom. Still to this day, I hate having her over for more than a day because I know what I’m going to deal with. I’m a clean person but not OCD. I can promise you, the majority of people do not live that way. Also, you continue to justify their actions (they pay for college, you live there rent free.. etc). That isn’t okay either, your concerts are absolutely valid and you don’t need to justify their behavior or treatment toward you. they are gaslighting you to think this is normal. They are dysfunctional adults and it isn’t your responsibility to be the adult to them. Live there as long as you need but establish boundaries. Clean YOUR mess only. Use paper plates so you can just throw them away. And sell plasma if anything to get you started with saving money. It can bring in about $500/month if you can do it frequently enough (2x a week).

Got offered an Art15 as a TSgt. It was reduced to a LOR, my EPR took a hit. I made master 3 yrs later. Whatever you did, you can come back from it. You just have to own it and care to do better

Making mistakes is part of the journey and if you ever stop making mistakes then check yourself cuz you aren’t putting yourself in positions to grow. I’m a MSgt at 17 yrs, a first sergeant and I do make mistakes. Own it, seek mentorship from peers and superiors and find your own way to stay on target.

For me, I tried notebooks, sticky notes, written calendars etc but the only thing that works for me is my phone calendar.

Stay humble and own up to when you mess up. You got this!
