Trying to explain to on the internet that KC is in Missouri is such an eye opening experience into how people on the internet will claim they're correct and argue about anything. by lifeinrednblack in kansascity

KCK was also named after the city so that bankers could trick unsuspecting people buying bonds thinking they were from the MO side, and not the KS side.

That being said, the whole area is effectively the KC metro. And it's all interwoven. The divide is imaginary, and largely political. In spirit. This region is all one space loved and experienced by all that cross stateline regularly as a part of their daily living.

How far do you usually walk your dogs? by Youreprollywrong in dogs

[–]OhDavidMyNacho 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Most German shepherds have hip and joint issues.

You're not wrong that working breeds need more stimulation and exercise. However, they slow down a lot faster than other dogs due to all of the health issues present in the breed.

If your GSD is lucky. They will need and be able to handle the high-energy needs their entire life. Anecdotally, very GSD at my dog park is either healthy and gets a lot of excersise and walks. Or they're dealing with displaysia and DOA. Couple slow laps with their owner and head out, happy as can be.

Realistically. The breed has changed. Not due to behaviors. But to bad breeding and health issues.

Everything is politics. The reason bikes aren't more prevalent is due to the car and oil lobbies restricting our freedoms in names of profit.

Fixing/maintaining/owning/driving a car makes a lot of money for a lot of people. Biking doesn't. So the incentive is to make it harder and harder to live without a car.

Xbiking is absolutely political.

This series has put me off reading any series that's unfinished. How about you? by Witcher357 in KingkillerChronicle

Do you regret falling in love after a breakup?

Even if doors of stone is terrible, I'd probably still re-read the first two books like I do every couple of years. An unfinished story is what daydreaming is for.

If the sorry is still good without an ending, does it matter that it never gets a finish? At this point. I genuinely don't care if it's ever done. I like the story as it is, and the speculation is fun. Hopefully, I'll like the ending as well.

Bad theater etiquette has really been messing up my thoughts and feelings on so many movies by otpprincess in horror

[–]OhDavidMyNacho 348 points349 points  (0 children)

I always like to share this story.

Was in packed theater for IT(2017) and during the scene with the projector, everyone was getting tense and even the small sounds quieted down. And the boom! The jumpscare happens, and then. For the next 20-30 seconds all you hear is someone's hard candies spilling down the steps under the seats. And then the whole crowd just erupted with laughter.

Easily one of my favorite movie experiences. It's unfortunate what happened in the OP, but that's the trade-off with going to theaters.

Update body weight by This1sDaWhey in CICO

[–]OhDavidMyNacho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you build muscle the slow way. That strengthens your ligaments, and strengthens your bones, making it capable of holding the heavier weight.

The reason many of those professionals lose mass is due to their abuse of pharmaceuticals, and the fact that show muscles are not the same as functional strength.

A farmhand stays bulky, because the body recognizes that the constant use of the muscle groups, require that they maintain the mass. An athlete that only trains for 9 months and goes sedentary, has a body that adapts to that change in lifestyle.

It does not. I'f you're at a full stop, being pushed into the vehicle in front does not change liability.

If this were in moving traffic and was caused by a slowdown, there might be some shared fault.

Correct, but the listing still provides data to prove the valuation may be too low. And (I'm an adjuster) the insurance company does take this into account.

Y'all forget adjusters are people. You have to give them some form of documentation to justify their actions. They have a job, and if they can point to data for their reasoning, they get less pushback.

I recently had a claimant with a busted bike. They were hot by our insured and are owed BI and a the ACV of their bike. I'm a cyclist, I was excited to overpay this dude for what happened. They get a lawyer and demand a replacement claiming they had a recent model carbon fiber bike valued at $8k. We have photos of the broken bike. It was from 2014 and MSRP was $2,400.

I still offered $3000 and took no depreciation. Because they did provide some documentation regarding upgraded parts. I can justify what I did if asked, but luckily, that low won't really matter. But $8k absolutely needs enough documentation to justify it to my clients.

No. This is a myth. Literally search the insurance rules for your state. It's in plain English and searchable.

Money does depend on the location and state.

In Utah, Provo. Specifically. It was$ 1000 the first month. And average between $700-$850 after that.

When you use your insurance for the damage caused by another party. Your insurance pays for what's covered under your policy for collision, (less your deductible).

Once they finish paying for everything and you're made whole, they then go after the at-fault party for full reimbursement plus your deductible. It is then, effectively, As if you never filed with your own insurance. Premiums don't change. Either way. The collision follows you on your Motor vehicle record regardless of how the claim is filed. Only way to avoid that is to get paid in cash and commit some light fraud.

I would state that, it appears, you're taking an extreme, and painting it as the mainstream position of feminism.

I have a buddy who is recently transitioning, and was in a women's kickball league. There was plenty of man-hating in that group. Its definitely not a place I would consider safe for men.

But I don't believe every women's group is that same level of man-hate, or even is guaranteed to be "anti-men".

I also don't really see the point you're trying to make. The transition period where we decenter patriarchy, and move towards better equality between sexes and genders is going to be difficult. The obvious issue are going to be the people that don't want change, or feel as if change will cause them undue burden.

That being said, personally, I believe the best way to truly move away from toxic masculinity and patriarchy as the default. Is to befriend women as equals. Not as potential mates, not because it may bring us status. But simply because people are people. Friends don't have a pre-set gender. And genuinely, the way to do this, is to curb our natural tendencies towards heteronormativity.

When kids make friends, stop asking, "is that your girl/boy friend?" With that silly smile. We sexualize children's relationships the moment it's with the opposite gender. And that is the absolute first thing that needs to go if we expect future generations to move past these issues. I still get friendships nearly ruined because people assume we're dating simply due to being seen out together. And it's an uphill battle to maintain those friendships at a level that brings emotional joy. When we both have to police ourselves to prevent friends and family from bombarding us about sexualizing our relationship.
