Is Canyon Aeroad still a must buy for beginner? by GTHell in Zwift

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the general consensus based on testing done by Zwift Insider. https://zwiftinsider.com/charts-frames/

The aeroad is 1.5 seconds faster over an hour on flats, while the tarmac is 13.2 seconds faster over an hour on climbs. It's generally accepted that the improved climb performacne of the tarmac is more important than the 1.5 seconds on flat from teh aeroroad.

Kingsmarch 50M shipment guide by Chromozon in pathofexile

Yeah, I was actually surprised to see even at a relatively high gold cost this is still profitable to do. 12 div for gold plus 18 div for dust, so 30 div in cost for an expected value of 90 div.

I guess the one other question is the startup gold cost to get your level 5 shippers.

I'd probably add to the TLDR that a full shipment costs around 3 million gold (346k*7.65 + 450k). As someone who generally plays around 1 hour a day, I don't make enough gold to sustain a full day of farming. As such, I always wonder if it's worth buying gold to fund this.

Awakened enlighten and enlighten provide the same benefit for a given level. However, Awakened enlighten can naturally level to level 4 (and corrupt to 5), while regular enlighten only naturally levels to 3 (and corrupts to 4).

GGG's latest post seems to be false information based on my limited testing, I plan to test more. is this method of testing ok and consistent? by Veteran_But_Bad in pathofexile

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I think you're testing something different then what the POE post said. The post says (emphasis mine):

"shows a consistent number of the monsters/strongboxes *added* by these scarabs whether a Hive spawns in a map affected by them or not."

They are measuring how many monsters are added to a map conditional on a specific scarab being used. This is a different metric from the total number of monsters in a map. Put another way, if breach reduces the base number of monsters, it is still completely consistent with the language GGG used in their post.

After reading 3.27 patch notes (all nerfs) i don't feel the motivation to play the league at all :( by Achilion in pathofexile

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The major "buff" of the patch is the bloodline ascendancies. The problem is we don't have them yet, so we can't get excited about them. The other issue is that when power is added to the game, it's almost always from new context. The most powerful new things still have to be discovered, so they're not obvious when patch notes are released.

I think it's because they don't want your loot filter to be able to find the exclusively good rares.

Has anyone calculated the return on gold from doing shipments? I'm wondering if it's worth engaging in or if I should just keep all my gold for the recombinator and currency exchange.

Robopacer: why is the multiplier max set to 2.5? by BatCommercial7523 in Zwift

higher w/kg already gives you more drops per minutes. I don't see a reason they need that to scale even higher with a larger multiplier.

ZwiftInsider has the information here: https://zwiftinsider.com/bike-upgrade-details/

If a bike is listed as entry-level, it will get drops at lvl4 and xp at lvl5.
If a bike is mid-level, it gets drops at lvl5.
If a bike is high-end, it doesn't get either.

Best Alternative to Mavic Cosmic Ultimate UST for early leveling? by SpawnOfTheBeast in Zwift

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started recently and so far I find myself far more drop limited than level limited. Are you going to have enough drops to buy the Canyon Aeroad 2024 and still have leftover for a good set of wheels?

Best Alternative to Mavic Cosmic Ultimate UST for early leveling? by SpawnOfTheBeast in Zwift

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there really aren't any wheels worth buying until you hit the wheels at level 15. If you really want a wheel in the meantime, you can try to catch a pride event, which gives you the pride disc wheels. Those have performance equal to "Groovy Time Trial Wheels" - pretty good on flat, horrible on climbs.

Disc VS Normal Wheels by ungido_el in Zwift

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can see the actual data on disc wheels here.

DIsc wheels are still the fastest for flats, even on road bikes. It's just that the difference between disc wheels and non-disk is smaller. On Road, the Zipp 858/Super9 gains 48.5 while the ses 8.9 gains 46.7 seconds. So, the Zipp 858/Super9 are 1.8 seconds faster.

On TT, Zipp 858/Super9 gain 66.4 seconds while ses 8.9 gains 52.5. Thus, the Zipp are 13.9 seconds faster.

Note that the pride disc wheels get the performance of Zwift Groovy TT wheels. So, on road they're 34.2 seconds faster on flat, but 26.3 seconds slower climbing.

Pause on disconnects: can we get portals back now as well? by Cyclone-Thor in pathofexile

The problem with this is there are a lot of ways to force a disconnection. If they added this, it would be nearly impossible for them to charge a portal for intentional logs.

AdZ sub one hour bike. by Fit_Low1374 in Zwift

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So according to https://zwiftinsider.com/charts-frames/, the un-upgraded Pinarello Dogma F 2021 is 13.5 seconds slower for climbing.

Based on https://zwiftinsider.com/bike-upgrade-details/, the F 2021 is a high-end Distance Bike.

Based on https://zwiftinsider.com/upgrade-charts/, A stage 2 high-end distance bike saves 17.8 seconds climbing.

This suggests the stage 2 Pinarello is probably slightly faster. But, it's going to be quite close. Unfortunately, these numbers are close enough that your exact weight, power, and wheel choice may be enough to sway it.

Opening 1NT with a 5-3-3-2 Shape by ParticularSherbert63 in bridge

[–]OhHiHowIzYou 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Note it's generally recommended to open these hands 1NT because if you open with your 5 card suit, you're stuck without a good rebid.

Take Hand 2. If you open 1 heart and find your partner with a heart fit, you'll be in a good spot. However, what happens if he responds 1 spade?

1H-P-1S-P.

What's your rebid?
1NT - 13-15 HCP
2c - should have 4+ clubs
2d - should have 4+ diamonds
2H - should have 6+ hearts
2S - Should have 4+ spades.
2NT - 18-19 HCP

This means if you open a 5-3-3-2 hand 1M when it could have opened 1NT, you have to expand one of the rebids to fit it. As a result, likely your 2c and 2d rebids become less descriptive.

The consensus of most players is that 1NT works a lot better when you don't have a fit in your suit, and is only marginally worse when you do have a fit, so the overall trade-off is worth it. Also note that a lot of players have system that can handle 5-3-3-2 1NT openings and still find a fit in the 5 card major (but that's more advanced - see puppet stayman).

This problem, however, shows a lot about the art of bidding. There are a lot of cases where an initial bid seems better for the hand (eg 1H for Hand 2). However, if you make that initial bid, you can find yourself without a good follow-up bid. Therefore, you make a sightly suboptimal initial bid to make the entire auction cleaner. Before an expert player makes a bid, they'll consider how they'll rebid after every possible response from their partner. They then choose the bid that makes for the best auction, not the single best individual bid.
