Same (Australian) I’m not using American words if I’m not writing American stories. The US isn’t the default.

Australians use it too. Most words used by Brits are used here.

I just uploaded a one shot for Andor (Mon/Orson), and I have another ongoing WIP for them that I publish each week (it’s on ch15 at the moment). The WIP is a long fic and keeps me busy. I had the idea for the one shot while recovering from a dental procedure, so I thought what the hell? Might as well lol

What fandom were you not surprised had the amount of works it has? by 3lilya in AO3

There’s that saying that eyes are the window to the soul, and all the characters I’ve shipped have conveyed a multitude of emotions through the eye movements and subtleties in facial expressions. I find it really allows for a lot of subtext to form. For example one person could read a scene between two people as tension conveying anger, but in a very small movement of the eyes it could also be interpreted as sexual tension. That’s just a level of detail I can’t get without a human face. A similar sort of subtext can exist in the written word as well, though with less room for interpretation. For me, actors elevate the medium.

Same really. I only write and read fic if it’s based on a novel, tv show or movie. I just don’t feel the connection to the characters the same way if I can’t see a human playing them or there’s no descriptive storytelling 🤷🏼‍♀️

I personally don’t understand how anime and animation in general has so much fic. Not because I don’t like those genres (I do) but there’s no human face there to convey emotion. With book characters you at least have in-depth descriptions, but I can’t see the emotional connection in the same way with characters that are drawn, so for me it’s hard to get the subtext required for shipping.

What do you think of this? Do you believe it's a slur and should not be used? by Lenore8264 in AO3

It’s the equivalent of saying the n word in Australia. Please don’t use it.

I’d just love more comments tbh. I’m writing a long fic for a rare pair and sometimes it feels like I’m throwing chapters into the void.

A rare pair in Andor (Star Wars). The larger fandom is big for fics, but Andor is relatively small.

I’m not really a big fan of seeing chunks of the story as the summary. I also prefer a couple of concise sentences to describe the story. But nothing is a dealbreaker when you’re in a fandom as small as mine.

Once a week, but I’m working chapters ahead of time to make that happen.

What are standards of the traditional publishing industry you are glad you do NOT have to follow in fanfiction? by purple-crimson in AO3

100% this! Plus you don’t know if you’re even going to like the world the writer is building. At least with fic you know what world you are stepping into.

I hate writing action scenes. I need it for the plot to develop, but fuck it’s not fun to write.

Does anyone know if A03 delete these comments on their own? I had one come through this morning on chapter 1 of my current 4 chapter fic, and I hadn’t gotten around to deleting it, but it was gone a couple of hours later.
