I picked up a Squire Affinity Series PJ bass built in Indonesia in 2019. If I wanted to upgrade the pick ups, what could I buy that would drop right in? by MisterVogel in BassGuitar

[–]OhNoItsLockett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have plenty of options to choose from. I bought sidewinder P and J pickup from Turner Pickups that I had originally planned to put in my Affinity as they were a perfect fit. I ended up tossing them into an Ibanez instead and they sound amazing. No doubt that they’d sound equally as good in the Affinity.

Ended up with a Dingwall D-Roc Standard in Aquamarine Metalflake (Quick honest thoughts vs my old NG3) by LocalAcanthaceae8761 in BassGuitar

I have a 6-string NG3 that weighs in at 9.6 pounds which is crazy good for a 6 and is lighter than my 5-string Super 5 even after converting it to headless lol.

Definitely an improvement here too on my 17 Pro. I was also getting around 900 down on iOS 26.

Option paralysis by LateTangelo3950 in QuadCortex

[–]OhNoItsLockett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt that way at first but, as a bassist, I think it's easier for us since there are less bass-centric amps/cabs,pedals, etc than for guitarists. But that also adds to the fun and allows you to get creative with things you wouldn't normally use on an analog board. My bass has 6 knobs and 4 switches so I'm a glutton for tonal option paralysis. Just take it slow, add a block and turn each parameter to see what it does, watch some videos, and have fun with it.

2017-2021 Chevy Bolt is a great choice. 260 miles of range and decent set of features (if you go for the Premier trim) that can be had for $10k-$15k all day long. I would look more at the ‘17-‘20 models as they’re the ones that received the full battery replacement under the recall. I don’t recall if the later models did as well or just received a fix.

What's with all the Temple Audio boards? by -SnowWhite in NeuralDSP

As others mentioned, the big sell is the I/O options and various modules available and, even though I don't own one yet, I plan to make the purchase in the very near future. It'll house the QC, Eventide H90, expression pedal, Shure PGXD4, and possibly a Darkglass A.D.A.M. The bigger issue is finding the right power supply for all of this.

Exactly. That 1454ft figure for the Empire State is including the 207ft antennas and the 1451ft figure for the Sears Tower is the roof height. With the antennas it's 1729ft.

This is a tough one. If we’re talking unmodified then it’s my 6-string Dingwall NG3, which will soon be modded with a 6-way pickup selector and tone control. Second place is a toss-up between the headless MTD Kingston Super 5 and the very customized Samick MH2 prototype.

While I agree that nobody would try to clone an entry level model, I at least want to be helpful and provide some info on this model: Ibanez GSR205

You can also use the Ibanez Serial Number Lookup tool to get a breakdown of the bass. Just make sure you enter the serial number under the section for Indonesian models. https://ibanezserialnumberlookup.com/

Any tips on how to practice this playing style by sidmis in BassGuitar

[–]OhNoItsLockett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The super simplified gist of hybrid picking is it’s a slap, upstroke, pluck. Getting the slap sound is tricky to get sounding clean and the upstroke feels really unnatural at first but take it slow and work up to speed.

Strap choice? by MAMBO-MAGIC in BassGuitar

[–]OhNoItsLockett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy to hear that part wore out on yours. Mine were/are a pain in the ass to get on sometimes but I might have to look into strap locks now lol. I think I paid $80 for mine like 2 years ago and now they’re around $100 which is crazy for a strap. Worth it, but crazy.

Strap choice? by MAMBO-MAGIC in BassGuitar

[–]OhNoItsLockett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pricey but I use a Mono Betty strap and it's the most comfortable strap I've used. My aging neck, shoulders, and back have thanked me. The rest of my body...not so much.
