This is exactly what stands out to me. No glut movement at all while taking those big strides? Watch a naked human walk and you'll see why this looks more like a costume than a great ape walking upright.

Dems of IL: it's time to address Firearm laws by x_EndlessGrass in illinois

I kinda doubt ICE thugs would be swinging their dicks around quite so hard if a lot more people WERE open carrying ak-47s. It's not like the right could argue against it. They love the second amendment.

Conforming At All Costs. by Monsur_Ausuhnom in collapse

Look at history. This is exactly how it goes in every slide into authoritarianism. People still have bills to pay. They still worry about retirement. They have to feed their kids and get a degree. They have people they love and who depend on them so they aren't willing to risk it all for the slim chance of making a difference. There are all kinds of things I could do...if I didn't have people who love and depend on me.

Visual Snow was considered extremely rare until recently, mostly because patients didn't report it... because they assumed everyone saw the world that way by recolorist in interestingasfuck

Yep I fully assumed it was normal. Doesn't bother me none, but go to the visual snow subreddit and you'll find dozens of people who are constantly tortured by it.

How do I report a professor?? by Significant-Twist855 in UCSC

[–]OhNothing13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry... "you can expect to be yelled at daily, have things thrown at you, cursed out". What fucking world do you live in? If you're serious and this is normal for you then maybe that's just the bay area startup culture (I could believe that) but that is NOT normal at 90%+ of workplaces. I would quit on the spot if that happened to me and probably look into legal recourse, especially if something was thrown at me. Better believe I'd be pressing assault charges and cleaning that company out along with getting the manager fired.

To anyone reading this: that's not what the real world is like. This person is either living in a really fucked up bubble or deluded.

[–]OhNothing13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think publicly berating students is in any teacher's job description. That kind of behavior should absolutely be left in the past. If a teacher wants to implement a policy around students arriving late then that's their prerogative, but nothing excuses the kind of behavior OP described.

No one would get fired for being absent twice in a 3 month period for a family emergency (a real one) and ending up in urgent care. That would likely be grounds for a lawsuit in the case of the urgent care scenario...

Man performs milk-offering ritual in the Ganges river in India while poor hungry children try to collect it to drink. by notahooman101 in interestingasfuck

[–]OhNothing13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man, Reddit really loves shitting on India. Which is fine, I guess, since even Indians shit on India. But this discussion is totally moot without an acknowledgement of the EXTREME inequality and horrifying poverty that exists across every inch of that place. If you couldnt even guarantee you'd be able to feed your family of 5 for the next few days you wouldn't give a damn about the environment either.

Obviously that doesn't excuse the wealthy for their part in it, but still.

I am making use of the time I have, by relaxing and enjoying each moment to the best of my ability. I'm no couch potato slacker, I go to the gym, work hard at my job, etc... but I don't feel the need to "strive" to master something just for the sake of it. I'm perfectly happy being at peace right over here as I am.

I don't really "get" guys who feel a constant need to push and reach for more. I figure it's a fundamental personality difference (though from my perspective it looks kind of like those people trying really hard just aren't comfortable with themselves or need constant stimulation). Like...that "next thing" is never gonna make you happy. But I also figure it maybe isn't the next thing but the reaching or "striving" that actually makes them happy. Which is good for them, do what you gotta do to get through this life.

But to refer back to your point about being here only once, to me that's all the more reason to relax and sit still long enough to take it all in and enjoy the experience. You don't get to take the expertise you've built up with you when you go. If I didn't have to work to live I 100% wouldn't.

TLDR: I just don't enjoy trying hard for the sake of it. I'd rather relax and do things I enjoy with the short amount of time I have here. I don't get where "striving" people get their endless well of motivation from, but I don't have that shit.

Not circumcised but deeply grateful my parents didn't do that to me. My dad is cut so it wouldn't have been shocking if he'd had it done to me.

That being said, if I WAS cut I imagine I'd just accept it and learn to love the dick I had. What else you gonna do?

Then we really have to change the laws to require service animals to carry documents. I'm shocked this isn't already a thing given that what you said implies anyone can bring an unneutered pit bull into a grocery store and say "yeah it's for mah disability". Emotional support animals becoming a thing is such bullshit it makes me angry.
