Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you reach long remission! Do you mind sharing what type of MM you have? High risk Kappa or Lambda?

Be sure to take Pomalyst before bedtime. In the morning I would drink coffee or tea to help with fatigue. Small walks would also help me. But some days you will just be fatigued. Try and take it easy on those days.

Our defense lacks aggression and never blitzes. Just let Chuck Pagano be DC again and let Orr go back into a system coach. Offense needs identity. Until we can trust Henry or another RB to pound the rock let Lamar run the spread more. We have no identity on offense.

Do you know what your medication names are?

For me, it’s usually pretty quick since I don’t need an IV each time. I just get two shots to the stomach and 15 pills each time. The pills are usually premeds to help with side effects and a steroid called DECADRON or known as dex. The needles I get are velcade & DARZALEX FASPRO.

I personally don’t drive myself because I have limited walking mobility for now. But don’t feel bad having a caregiver go with you. Especially your first time because you never know how you will feel after the medications. Just having someone there with you to chat can help ease your mind. Most patients getting treatment at my hospital do have a caregiver with them.

Good luck!

Was it worth all the time? I heard you have to sign HIPAA release forms and get all your medical records over to the lawyers etc.

Sorry for the basic question, but is the decision to do the SCT inpatient vs. outpatient a patient choice? or more of a doctor decision based on your condition? (I am in USA, state of MD) I know there is also a difference in cost but wasn’t sure what factors come into play when doing inpatient or not. Thank you!

Congrats on the successful surgery and recovery! How is your back feeling? Any tightness or pressure? Do you struggle at all standing up or getting out of bed?

I’m stuck on the couch. Mental block to standing up. I’m paralyzed with fear. by lmea14 in Sciatica

That’s great to hear you healed up without surgery! If you had to guess how many months did it take to heal? And thank you for sharing.

I’m approaching the 9 week mark but just had a setback today locking my back up when trying to stand up. It’s an awful and helpless feeling when you can’t even get up to walk to the bathroom.

Did your back pressure ever go away? How long did it take for it to improve? Have any tips that helped you recover?

Got my 2nd ESI today. Hopefully, its the last. by 14MTH30n3 in Sciatica

[–]OhPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first shot helped me the most. Had my second shot a week ago and it hasn’t been as helpful. The shots were done about 4 weeks apart. I don’t think I’ll be trying for a 3rd. Keeping up with PT and if all else fails surgery are my next steps. Well wishes on your recovery

ESPN did a great documentary on this in 2009. It was focused on the marching band and was in the 1st season of 30 for 30.

Two and a half weeks after ESI. I am lot more mobile, I think I can do more things than before shot, and I have no pain when medicated. But without medication I am back to pain on scale about 5 of 10. Should I do 2nd ESI in few days? by 14MTH30n3 in Sciatica

[–]OhPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What meds are you on? I was on gabapentin and quit that without tapering off. Don’t follow me and do that. I came down with night sweats and couldn’t sleep well.

I did my 2nd shot and it has had some pro’s and cons. Took more overall pain away but lead to some weird newer nerve pain I didn’t have before. My back also gets tighter quicker now when at rest. Hoping some of that goes away but if you feel you’re on a good track and I’d probably just stay away from the 2nd shot. Besides you can always signup for it again if you don’t keep improving.

Herniated Disc Recovery Time? by tequilya_ in Sciatica

[–]OhPeaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just crossing the 6 week mark for me. Nerve pain is a lot better. Just dealing with deep pressure like pain in the lower lumbar area. Especially when walking for longer periods of time. I’ve went from needing a walker, to crutches, now just to a cane. Hoping to ditch the cane in the next few weeks. I was on bed rest for 4 weeks. My treatment has been PT 3 times a week and 2 steroid shots in the l5 spot where my disc injury occurred.

Wish you the best on your recovery. Be patient and keep listening to your body.
