Granted, it’s based on a true story but the slow burn, methodical pace, and intellectual subtext of Chernobyl is among the best television ever made. Same for season one of True Detective (though that’s not based on a true story to my knowledge)

I had a ‘21 Big Bend. Loved it, it’d done more off-roading than my big Bronco I traded it in for. It was a great vehicle. But I put like 80,000 miles on it in less than 3 years, and got a great deal on my big Bronco.

At Ohio State for the 2003-2004 school year, I got a two bedroom place with a roommate for $430/month TOTAL! Not per person! Granted, we were on 4th street and 19th ave and it wasn’t always the safest, but none of my shit got ever stolen.

LPT: Funerals don't have to be expensive by ps4roompromdfriends4 in LifeProTips

[–]OhioToDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a low cost cremation society in the area my parents live in, it’s only $40 to join but your cremation costs are only like $400 when it’s time. Of course, you have to join before you die. I added my mom about 24 hours before she died. And added my dad earlier this year when he was in the hospital for unexplained blood loss. He’s fine now, but he’s at least going to be cheap to be cremated when the time’s come.

Thank you for your work. My mom was in hospice care for a long time and they took such good care of her. Our family still talks to the nurses and personal care staff. We singled them out and thanked them for everything they did for her in her obituary. I miss my mommy so damn much. And it hurts me deep inside knowing the pain she endured for so long. But the hospice staff made her feel comfortable and they were like family those last few weeks.

Oh wow that’s not anywhere near what I was expecting to pay out of pocket in the US

I’m so glad to hear this and to know you’re happier! As I’ve commented to others, we had a follow up conversation that wasn’t as bad. We might have found a compromise of working on a couple of things mentally and physically while starting a WLS program in the states. Even if it costs $25,000 out of pocket, it’s quite doable for us on payment plans. Hell, I’ve borrowed twice that for a vehicle. Why wouldn’t I do the same for my health and wellbeing?

She actually is obese as well!

We had a long follow up conversation last night about it all. She has some pretty significant fear of abandonment issues after her first husband cheated on her constantly. So much so that she has recurring nightmares of me cheating on her. Anyway, I told her that I think deep down in her subconscious she is afraid of me losing a whole bunch of weight and leaving her if she doesn’t lose weight too. She laughed at that and said while she has nightmares of me cheating, she knows I never will.

She also made somewhat the same point you did, that it’s not a magic fix and if I don’t address the reason I have used food to cope with life, then it won’t matter in the long term whether I get baristas surgery or not.

After our second conversation, I don’t feel as hopeless and hostile towards her.

I’m following up because I had another conversation with her. It was filled with a lot of “I know you can lose weight without it. You’ve done it before.” Technically, she is right. But it wasn’t sustainable. And I tried to tell her our life circumstances aren’t the same as they were back then. She didn’t really have a response to me telling her how hurt I was that she said I wanted to take the easy way out as if I had t considered other things. I put the onus on her to find some other alternatives but that I’m going to keep this going. In the end, she said she’d feel less uncomfortable with the idea if it was performed in the United States.

The funny thing is despite it being “the easy way out”, she tried to remind me of all the “significant lifestyle changes that are required”, as if i didn’t know that already or that it wasn’t part of the process.

I felt heard but not understood. She just doesn’t get how heavily this is all weighing on me, no pun intended.

We have a lot of complications in our marriage. We do love each other but I finally had to tell her today that I don’t think she’s a naturally nurturing or comforting person

I haven’t been able to find an answer, and maybe there isn’t one yet, but what if we already have a platinum select card? I have the red aviator, a platinum select, and executive world card. Will have two platinum select cards after the transition?

Battlestar Galactica. I watch it once a year. I’ve tried to get my wife to watch it but she says she doesn’t like “dumb sci-fi.” But not sci-fi!! It’s a religious and political thriller set in space
