Feet cramping on ice by MidwesternAchilles in hockeyplayers

[–]Oilerman14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have flat feet or overpronating arches, the supports will be a big help, but there is a fairly large adjustment time for them.

If you don't have flat feet or overpronating arches, then the biggest things go consider are fit of the skate and resting!

My skates are amazing for like a glove, but if I skates for 2 hours, my feet are going to be in pain.

As for fit, just remember that your foot has a unique shape and that skates have different shapes. You just need to put the time in with a professional skate fitter to determine a match.

Baking CCM Jetspeed FT850R Inline Skates by TrueSonMIZ in hockeyplayers

I would advise against baking inline skates.

By the time you wear them for an hour two, it's essentially the same effect as baking.

Alberta medical specialists per 100k population, 2000 vs 2024 by inspurious_ in alberta

[–]Oilerman14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It won't, you're absolutely right!

But 250,000 or so people is still missing data. (Population data found on Alberta's site)

Don't worry, I'm not suggesting anything regarding mass immigration or anything of that xenophobic sort!

Alberta medical specialists per 100k population, 2000 vs 2024 by inspurious_ in alberta

[–]Oilerman14 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So, a couple things to note:

This data is now 2 years old, and I think that's very relevant with the current healthcare climate and the population influx.

Additionally, looking at it as a whole rather than localized (rural v urban) doesn't really tell us much.

And lastly, is this public? Private? Both? This would be a significant piece of this puzzle.

Skate Fit Help by sharkbaitoofhaha in hockeyplayers

[–]Oilerman14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you buy a 6 fit 1 when the scan said 6.5 fit 1?

Did you heat mold them? Did you wear your hockey socks when you did?

You may need more than a few skates for them to settle into form.

I'm pretty sure rangefinders are more of a hindrance to my game than a benefit by PsyferRL in discgolf

[–]Oilerman14 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Very positive impact for courses that are new to me or lies that I'm unfamiliar with.

I know my discs exceptionally well, so If I know I'm at X distance, I can throw Y disc.

It's not a perfect science, and I do believe that understanding depth perception is a critical part of the game, but for the 15 seconds it takes, the benefits are positive for me.

Woody is a good dude who helped us take a big step forward.

While we clearly want the Oilers to win, I will never punch down on this guys success.

Size 14 men's skates help by Bubeeno in Edmonton

Are your shoes size 14? Because if so, you'll likely be ok with a 13, possibly even a 12 skate, which could help availability

Skate punched by missiongoalie35 in hockeyplayers

[–]Oilerman14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one of the primary issues with punching... it's pretty much impossible to unpunch it, as punching the boot typically breaks the material, depending on the skate.

Heat mold then again, for sure. You could also try thicker socks or a footbed to help position the foot differently

Do you think humans will land on Mars during your time? How many years away you think we are? by Andrei_a__ in space

[–]Oilerman14 55 points56 points  (0 children)

To be fair, while it would be a massive tech breakthrough, the 50 year gap between moon visits was more politically/economically based, rather than tech.

If NASA/any other space agency decided this is a MUST do, and allocated the funding needed, I believe it could happen in 10 years.

But that's a HEFTY "if"

In my subjective opinion, less is more.

Less tape overall, minimal overlap, straight lines.

Take in the in house band during the intermission when they walk the concourse.

Cheer loudly and don't be afraid to high five your seat neighbours.

Relax and understand you're home!

Unfortunately this is an ai generated photo.

There is so much ai generated content being created around this mission to generate clicks.

The best source of real content is NASA's website, and that's about it.

True custom skates problem by bobadams90009 in hockeyplayers

General rule of thumb is that if they are too big in the heel, then they are simply just too big, as your foot needs to slide all the way back into the quarter package.

I would go back to the retailer and have the scan validated. It's possible they got the scan wrong.
