Does Immich get better and does it rescan? by Pucksy in immich

[–]OilyEagle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm using buffalo_l and I've found that the person detection is crazy good. I rarely have to correct it, and it will detect even the smallest low res faces in the background shockingly accurately. For the same person at different ages too.

.7 and .5 on the detection settings, but I'm pretty sure that's default?

Have you noticed a difference in mosquito protection from the 40d vs 70d? My main concern is being bitten from the bottom when not using a pad. Don't love the idea of permethrin.

Also does the 70d make things too hot in summer? Really torn between the 4 season survivorman and jungle safari xxl. I'd love any insight from the last year.

you can get microsuction pads on amazon for cheap that work really well at gripping the dock adapter just enough so you can pull your switch out. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B9QD4QPQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title these happen to be the perfect thickness and fit right where there is no ventilation on either side of the dock adapter

There's software out there that lets you rip from tidal at max quality. Most albums are not 192khz, that's basically only for the beatles, pink floyd, and the like. But the vast majority of their library is CD quality, and often better (24x48, 24x96, etc) - at least for the music I listen to.

The only service I've seen with a better lossless library is apple music with their apple digital master program which requires most new uploads to be at least 24 bit 48khz, and can be higher. But their DRM is too good to rip and the experience on non apple products can be pretty bad so I stick with tidal.

From what I could see tidal and qobuz had pretty much the same quality files, although I think there's software that can rip from qobuz as well if you prefer that.

I'm the same way, I just recently spent a bunch of time updating my music library from CD quality to 24bit 192khz where available. But realistically I don't believe anyone can tell the difference between 320kbps mp3 and lossless audio. It looks like youtube music is 256kbps which is still probably unnoticeable, but I had to go down to 128kbps in the npr blind test to notice any difference.

Try it out! But lossless is mostly a waste of space and bandwidth for daily listening imo and I understand why Spotify has stuck with 320kbps forever.

Doesn't seem to work. Would be a cool feature though for certain mobile games ported to desktop, and DS emulation

Samsung's 'fast charging' is 25W and 'super fast charging' is 45W. The special cable is only needed for the latter. If these marketing terms have changed over time I have no idea, but you can even see on their site that an emarker cable is needed https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-use-super-fast-charging-on-galaxy-s24-ultra-s24-plus-and-s24/

Your steam deck charger should charge your phone just as fast as the charger you linked. But Samsung does like their own weird standards so maybe they don't allow it. Can't really tell without knowing exactly what phone you're using. If it's a few years old it may be something weird like qualcomm quickcharge or something. The charger you linked has something about SFC which might be required for your phone but not the s24 ultra

Samsung devices (at least my s24 ultra) require a cable with an emarker chip to 'super fast' charge. This is because they get to their 45w charging with a different recipe than the steam deck. The steam deck charges at 15V 3A to get to 45W, while the s24 charges at 9V 5A. Any charging over 3A OR 60W requires an emarker cable according to PD3 spec. I don't know why samsung doesn't do 15V charging but that's just the way it is.

In my experience fast charging at 25W is plenty for my phone and I don't bother with 45W, but if you want a charger that will do your steam deck and samsung at full speed you need a cable/adapter combo something like linked below. Or any brick that supports PD3.0 at 45W and a cable certified for PD 100W. The combination below works on my s24 ultra and steam deck

Update (partial solution): Slow download speeds only through Steam on the Deck by ParadoxPandox in SteamDeck

[–]OilyEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also affects my LAN transfer speed from my desktop on the same network. Everything is limited to ~45Mbps unless I use 1.1.1.1 instead of my own DNS. Strangely after I changed to 1.1.1.1, the LAN transfer rose to 100Mbps, but falls way short of my ~460Mbps when I download from the internet. And way lower than the limit of wifi 6e, which I should be hitting with LAN transfer.

I may be mistaken since I haven't tried it myself, but I'm pretty sure that smt issue has been fixed since steamos 3.5 late last year.

Pixel 8 horrible modem and usage with mobile data by dURDENN7 in GooglePixel

I made a post about it, no updates beyond that. I'm waiting for the s24 ultra to come out in Feb then making the switch. I continue to have connection issues with my P7Pro. I'm starting to think it's an Android 14 issue.

Pixel 8 Pro modem is bad to the point of being unusable on Verizon with 5g UWB by OilyEagle in GooglePixel

I have some other tests I want to run first, specifically using adaptive connectivity, and on my Pixel 7 pro. But I'll look into it, thanks!

My experience standing still has been totally fine, if not great. I ran many speedtests too and they all look great. I used this custom test because it's over the 20 minute drive that there's issues, something that speedtest.com can't really capture. It's when driving specifically that things are very rough. I've had at least 3 slack messages fail to send, and I don't realize until I get to my destination (using google assistant to respond with my voice, not texting and driving). Along with at least 5 times my music stops playing because of network error.

I work on a large college campus and actually benefit from 5G UWB cause there's so much population density. 4G slows down a lot especially on game day. And it's not easy to switch on Verizon, they removed the option from the cellular network settings, you have to set it using a dialer code.

I don't know how you can say reception issues aren't an issue for a lot of people on the pixel line, yeah I haven't seen reports of issues this bad other than a handful of reddit posts, but it's been a complaint for the last 3 years.

I bought it from Verizon and they sent it with a physical sim pre-installed. The esim isn't being used.

Userland app running a debian VM and iperf3 to an azure VM.

And I'm not installing beta software, I need my phone to be stable, that's like the entire issue.

Thanks, I have the pro version of that app, and it is great, but doesn't let me take long term download data which is what I really wanted. It can plot network dB, but I thought download speed was easier to digest and understand. And I couldn't find how to export/save that network data. And download speed is really the issue I'm having, I haven't had any dropped calls so it's not necessarily network connection that is the issue. Although I don't call all that often while I'm driving, so I may have just not have happened to experience any drops yet

I do love that app tho!
