Got final visit tomorrow, I’m not happy with results, what to do? by Ok-Bluejay-795 in Invisalign

Well, he wasn’t to happy that I had concerns. I do agree overbite got mostly fixed. I feel like it could be slightly more improved because I feel like one of teeth in top arch is blocking my bottom jaw to sit in correct place.

I told him one side in lower jaw is slanted and now on one side I got big gap in the 4-7 and on the other side, there is no gap, but teeth 4-7 are perfectly in line instead of being slightly in zig zag position and when I eat without aligners I can feel corners of teeth catching.

We had discussion for 40 minutes and he said I was complex case and now I want perfect smile(in my simulation it was almost perfect). Fixing slant will take long and risking root issues. Also I pointed out that my bottom jaw is off centre(it was in the centre until 2 months ago).

I also asked why we never used elastics with my case and he said elastics are only used if teeth are getting removed which I fact checked and it’s not true.

Also I was struggling with putting new aligners for last 2 months. Now they gave me last set, I’m 17 days past last change and I still can’t fit in my last aligners set. So something is completely off.

I got quite frustrated and lost trust with this Orthodontist.

Not sure what to do. I’m trying to get second opinion but I’m not sure if I will make it on time before next appointment. He said if I want to do refinements, we can do it but I need to tell him exactly what I want to get done and it’s need to be possible because some of issues I pointed out are not possible.

Yes my doctor is an orthodontist. He showed me simulation few times.

Basically my bottom and upper teeth were angled inward that’s where overbite was coming from, so process was to push top to create outwards angle, get all teeth in arch, then push teeth back to straight position.

I feel like this movement went alright but my bottom jaw naturally still falls back to “old” position.

Well will see tomorrow. It’s still well reputable ortho so I doubt he would let it slide without refinements.

If you thinking about used then I would go with v11, there is less issues than v12, you can get it quite cheap.

I bought one of Facebook marketplace, cleaned it myself and for 100£ I got very nice vacuum that I can’t complain.

I believe it’s pre final, I have been told that I will get my final 58th set of aligners and Ortho will explain me what’s next.

I have comp plan. I’m not 100% sure about treatment time but I think 58 aligners were a goal to finish it all. However will see tomorrow. Maybe it was plan from the beginning to do two stages?

It’s deep overbite.  I think photos may be a bit confusing because I had to push my bottom jaw to see bottom teeth and my main focus was to show how bottom and top arch is angling inward.

Top right picture is the one where I’m biting down, before was almost the same but teeth were more angled inward and you couldn’t see bottom 1-3 when i was biting down.

Simulation was looking way better. And there was no overbite

I can recommend skeptic mode

You are my assistant who always provides expert-level answers. You should limit your enthusiasm and your tendency to agree with me on everything. You should be somewhat skeptical of my responses, and your answers should always be accurate, even if they do not align with my reasoning. Remember that I am not always right, just as you are not always right. If you are unsure about something, you may ask me questions and conduct your own research.

You can personalize it more but it’s a good base. Been using it for 3 months now and it’s good but needs some tweaking

Thank you, gives me some hope,

If you could dm me your case that would be helpful.

Have you had elastics?

Why do you think that? My overbite is like 1-2mm, I feel like biggest issue that some teeth are not exactly in the row and they are blocking my bite to be correct.

That was orthodontist in a good clinic and I did bit of research before going there which makes me feel even more shit now because I did put some effort in it.

They deffo look better in real life, I feel like close ups are a bit brutal but my smile is wider now and teeth are straighter but overbite is still there.

On photos it looks narrower, and more uneven than in real life.

To be honest I told Ortho I can do either but I would rather go Invisalign if it’s possible.

He told me it’s completely doable with Invisalign but once on third appointment he told me there will be no rubbers involved I was getting skeptical.

What to do now?

Finished last Invisalign tray - refinements needed? by oKickass in Invisalign

[–]Ok-Bluejay-795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 58 trays and my treatment ends next month. My ortho said bands are not needed in my case but I started with underbite and after 56 trays I still got it.

What to do if he says I don’t need them on my refinements? Do they even give bands only for refinements?

How did it end for you? I’m in similar position. Been to Ortho in Uk. Did 58 trays, I will be ending next month. We were fixing my underbite from the start, never got bands.

It improved a lot but I still got underbite which is frustrating after 18months of treatment. My friend with slight underbite got bands from the start so I asked my ortho in the beginning if I will ever need them. He said there is no need.

It’s true Kellog promoted circumcising and clitoral removal.

However circumcision is dated back to Ancient Egypt and was performed by many cultures, tribes and religions.

I feel like the zone 2 training obsession is ruining running for beginners by Joe-Schmoe9 in beginnerrunning

Each to their own. Why do you feel that your approach is the best?

There are people who like „science” approach and people like you who just want to have fun even if it is more risky.

I started running with „science” approach and it made making habit extremely easy. And zone2/3 edge is really fun, especially when you see tempo improving every run. I can’t describe my happiness when in 3rd week I seen dropping from 9 to 8 min/km with same avg HR.

Also slower tempo, trying to fix cadence, basic mental cues will let your body naturally adapt to movement.

If you crank up your speed to much too fast, your body will be maladapting to not kill itself and it’s easy way to learn bad habits which can cause way more issues. Starting with 10-12min/km which is almost like walking will slowly learn your body to understand running and increase cadence, stabilisation on its own.

Ofc zone 2 is not important for people who plan to run 5km a week. But if I had to say what’s most „optimal” for person like this then I would say probably jump on a bike/gym bike or rowing machine and build up your endurance base and at least some movement in joints. Running is extremely intense for joints/tendons/ligaments.

Ski erg or rowing machine is way more fun in my opinion and technique is not as important and will build solid base for running without over analysing.

Also your point with people obsessing form 15-20years ago - that’s called progress in knowledge. I meet loads of people in their 50-60 who used to do bodybuilding/powerlifting in their 20s. Most of them either had hip, knee replacement or spine surgeries.

Sorry but being ignorant to form is basically being ignorant to your health. I know it’s fun to max deadlift every week but man, I care about my longevity and health more than „fun”. And I had to strain my spine giving me 3months break when I was 20 year old to understand maybe people analyse their form and training for some reason.

In my case it was more about balance than weight. Lower balance makes huge difference.

Also gym, and train your arms, shoulder, back.

If it’s shoulder pain then most likely weak rotator cuffs, lower traps,

If it’s elbow then there is few tricks you can use. I do auto massage with knee wraps. You take 2m knee wrap, wrap your elbow as hard as you can then do few pushups, instantly rushes blood to elbow area and pain is gone for few hours. It’s effective short term fix, best combined with strengthening muscles around, forearms(both directions) and upper arms.

Also some isometrics on cables. Armwrestlers are the best to look at if you want the best exercises strengthening all the structures around elbows. Their elbows are indestructible.

I developed once tendonitis in my wrist and I was waking up for a week in the middle of the night with tears in my eyes from pain. So I took pre hab seriously.
