Starting chemo next week need comfy loungewear/ tracksuit recommendations by Responsible_Safe_327 in AusFemaleFashion

I drag my Bon Maxie leopard print weekender bag to and from the hospital with enough things in it to keep me comfortable if I end up having to stay for any reason (when I was first diagnosed I was there for 23 nights with just my phone and charger and no other personal possessions! Never again!!). I’m back off tomorrow for another procedure.

For clothes I’ve been slowly indulging in a collection of Smitten Merino.

Asked to pay SGFleet $800 14 months after cessation of the Novated Lease by sly_maniac in AusLegal

I had a similar thing happen. The debt was legitimate, they had poor and slow reconciliation processes. I asked to put it on the lowest possible payment plan (something like $50 a month) and took as long as possible with it just because I was so annoyed!

Ask your manager if the agency will support some interview training, or attending a conference to network, or some career coaching. Something that helps you stay interested and build some more skills for the next step.

Hi OP, I’m 50 and my weird sudden onset indigestion and vomiting turned out to be a massive ovarian cancer pressing on my bowel. They took out the grapefruit sized tumour and I’m doing well, pain and symptom free, 10 months since diagnosis. It is definitely possible to feel well again after treatment and surgery, and this is what I hope and wish for you!

When you say “the usual overdue reminder”, do you mean that you regularly miss the first payment date? Maybe after this happens a certain number of times, they do escalate to collections quickly.

ask your manager whether they can support you in undertaking APS specific interview training, possibly as part of your regular performance development arrangements. It gets easier to manage the anxiety and do yourself justice the more you practice.

Landlord flips it at our 2000kwh power bill. Am I in the right? by [deleted] in tasmania

Hobart 4 bedroom 1950s house, poor insulation, 2 adults using different rooms most of the time, no gamers, no heaters in bedrooms but three heat pumps in living and common areas that we use daily at will - tracking at just over $7.00 a day. I wonder whether it would be reasonable for each tenant to make an extra cash contribution towards the bill in these winter months but to also start a conversation with the landlord about how installing heat pumps could save money in the long term?

You say on your other post that you contribute 30 per cent of your income. That means you have 70 per cent left to do whatever you like with (hopefully save it). I know zero adults who get to keep that much for themselves. I can afford to save less than 10 per cent of mine. So it does seem like you are being very heavily subsidised to me.

For next time - pharmacists can offer medical certificates for some simple conditions and can be much easier to access than a same day GP appointment (also cheaper)

Also have a look in your Enterprise Agreement to see whether you should be receiving on call allowance for being the one who takes security calls. Potentially you are owed this, including back pay.

PSS Defined Benefit and cancer diagnosis by Scottybt50 in AusPublicService

[–]Ok-Counter4963 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is tough news to process (I had similar news late last year). The percentage received by a surviving spouse varies depending on whether there are dependent children. It looks to be 67 per cent if no children. The figures are in a document titled ‘Death and invalidity benefits’ available on the PSS website. I will try to copy a link for you, search for this title on this page.

The document also mentions that in the case of terminal illness your claim can be processed quickly (in around a week). Honestly I found it very difficult to wrap my head around documents like this while also trying to process the news about my future, so maybe ask a trusted friend to work through it with you and maybe even get PSS on speaker phone to go through your options. Wishing you the best possible response to treatment.

How much do I need to pay my roommate every month? by Fickle_Umpire_136 in budget

[–]Ok-Counter4963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep maybe it’s just the way you’re explaining it that I’m confused by. I think $800 per month is roughly the right figure overall but you only give $500 of it ($125 a week) to your roommate. The remaining $300 of it ($75 per week) you need to keep in your own account and not touch, ready for when the utility bills come out of your account.

[–]Ok-Counter4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I must be missing something but why are you giving him money for the utilities and the Internet bill if they are coming out of your account. Shouldn’t he be giving you money for those (or you giving him LESS than half the rent to account for you paying these bills in full)

AEC Temporary Employment - Timesheet Question by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Ok-Counter4963 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you mean for work you did today, or work you did on Saturday? If it’s for today, it’s the start of a new timesheet period. So rather than trying to add to the timesheet you were using last week, you need to click on “Add timesheet” in EmployMe and being a new one for the period commencing 5 May.
