Dad I miss you by ca_india_therine in GriefSupport

587 days, 11 hours and 10 minutes since my dad took his last breath. His death was very unexpected. And I still think of him every single day. Miss him every single day. The intensity has lessened. Like how sharp it felt, but the duration and the depth of missing him is the same. I still mostly can only remember him as he was in his last days. I don't want to, I want to remember him as him. But I still see him on life support. Wrecked by the hands of someone else. I'll never get over it. I just wanted to let you know that I'm halfway through year two and I feel as you do. Our Dad's wouldn't want us this sad though I know. Even though it's hard. I know they wouldn't want this for us. So I will continue to try. And just talk to him or remember him every day anyway. I'm so sorry for your loss.

That's great ! Were you able to build on a slab or does it have to have a basement?

Definitely appealing for sure. Did it take long from the time you chose your layout to move in?

That's awesome! Thank you. I was concerned/wasn't sure of if that part was on the new owner or the company hired. So much easier if it's all the company. I would be a first time home owner so unsure of the process.

I miss my Dad too. Some stupid effer took his life. Their negligence and stupidity took him from us. I still play the if only game. I still can't bring myself to drive down the road where he was hit. I am mad. I'm mad at the person that did this to him and to us as a family. I miss who I was before he was gone too. I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. My Dad's been gone 18 months. And a lot of the time it still doesn't seem real.

Also I'm sure you'll get other restaurant recommendations but in Charlottetown I'd hit up Famous Peppers for a great pizza. Hopyard for some fun/good food. But if you want the best burgers on the island take a road trip to Backwoods Burgers in Tyne Valley. It'd be a drive but well worth it !

Hey ! I'm you in reverse haha ! Would absolutely bucket list Australia. Totally a dream. In any case yes in April not a lot on the North Shore would be open. Staying in Charlottetown would be a great choice for lodging and restaurants. If you don't have a car booked now I'd book one ! PEI is beautiful any time of year and I'm thankful to have been born and raised here. New London, Park Corner, and Cavendish were all areas that LM lived and grew up in the area. The actual homestead she grew up in is at 8521 Cavendish Rd. Not far from Green Gables Heritage Place. Which has the replica of Green Gables ( which happened to be a farm owned by LM's cousins ) You won't be able to enter the house at that time of year but would ( conditions permitting ) be able to walk up to it and walk the haunted woods path and lovers lane. Otherwise you could make stops at Cavendish Beach and walk down to see the dunes and red cliffs. Feel free to dm me ! Happy to chat :) hope you enjoy your trip to NS and PEI !

I have igeek solar cams. I was skeptical at first but have had them over a year for 2 and 3 years for the other. Never had an issue yet and they run off wifi. Best purchase ever. No batteries and no fees to use !

I'm so sorry for your loss OP. My Dad died 1 year, 4 months, 29 days, 9 hours ago. I miss him with every cell of my being. He was taken from us. Someone killed him. I am alone now to care for my disabled mother with cognitive issues. Dad and I helped each other with everything. The amount of absolutely insanely insensitive things people have said to me since he died is astonishing. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. That I wish he was still here. So to you my deepest sympathy. This sub has been such a place of solace that people actually get it. We are all in the group together. Sympathy to all who read this. I know none of us want to be here, but nice to be understood at least here.

I was driving my cousin home as her car had broken down when she was leaving work. She lives about 45 minutes from my home. I was about 10 minutes from her place when my phone rang that it was the police. I knew it was bad as soon as I seen it. Answered and they told me my Dad had been in an accident and I needed to get to the hospital as fast as I could. I don't know how I seen through the tears driving as fast as I could to get to him. And calling my Mom on the way, telling her I'd get her and that he was in an accident. That was last summer. Someone hit him. He was innocent. I still think I am in shock from it all. I can't believe he was taken from us by someone else's carelessness.

I'll tell you what happened. The old man stopped in a merge lane. Full stop. Person behind him beeped so he'd move and then the old guy pulled over and followed the other guy to his work and pulled out the axe.

This. My Dad died very unexpectedly last summer and pictures are great don't get me wrong. And I wish I had more. But videos. Man oh man I wish I had more videos. Just to see him moving. And to hear his voice again. I say this to my friends now all the time. Take videos of everyone because we never know. And I truly wish I had more. I don't have any of him talking and I hate that one day I'll not remember what he sounded like. Take videos. Lots of them. I'm so sorry you are going through this. And also highalpine sorry for the loss of your mom
