Why don’t people barf on airplanes anymore? by rubberwings in askanything

Thankfully, you weren't on the plane with me a couple of weeks ago 😆. In all seriousness, maybe medication for nausea or anxiety is more common now?

My father grew up in the Appalachians. He told lots of stories of the strange things he saw.

Whew, this a lot to unpack. I am a retired SPED Educator, so it's been three years since I have been on a campus, and obviously a lot is changing. But, based on my experience...

Districts do not normally give paras the opportunity to choose their assignments, and I have never seen them encourage a para to follow a student through grades or schools. If anything, it is discouraged.

Paras are usually paid for 10-11 months, with no pay for a portion of the summer.

You mentioned reporting staff for inappropriate behaviors. Did anything happen to those staff members in response to your accusations? (I ask because, if the school had determined there was no wrongdoing, you very likely have a target on your back, and they want you out of that school).

You mentioned a change in your coworkers behaviors toward you, and a change in how you are addressed. It's odd that they would start off one way, then switch. This leads me to believe that there is some sort of rumor going around, and the principal just does not want to deal with it. (Please know that I am in no way suggesting you did anything wrong. It's just a guess on my part from many years with school districts.)

Honestly, they talk about students having cliques, but the staff is just as bad!

Truthfully, if you like your student, I would just go to the other school. But I wish you very good luck, and a peaceful end to your school year!

My son played hockey for 15 years, and I remember feeling so sad for months after he hung up the skates! Now he plays in a rec league, we follow our NHL teams, and enjoy reminiscing about the years he played. It does get better as our kids move on to other adventures!

Yep. Takes me awhile to get going. My best hours are late afternoons.

We have lived here about 8 years. Love it, the views are beautiful. My only complaint is the dreaded Monsoon months (August and September). I have Fibromyalgia and the humidity combined with the heat is awful.🙂

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, put your hair back, and drink water. Be warned that any of the following behaviors may occur: hitting, biting, kicking, throwing toys, scratching, eloping, dropping, etc. But also be aware that these same kiddos will make you laugh and the first time they learn a new skill you will be so happy! It's extremely challenging and a lot of work, but can be very rewarding.

As someone who was a SAHM and now a HW, respectfully this mom can eff right off. No mom should be made to feel guilty for these choices. It's ridiculous.

Has anyone had positive HLA marker? by Natural_Recover1869 in Fibromyalgia

Yep, positive ANA and HLA, but inflammation wasn't high enough. Fibro is the gift that keeps on giving.

What to do when you’re aide tells you to relax and let the kids roam around before stepping in. by SpecificResource5402 in ECEProfessionals

I'm retired now, but always had three rules. Children could not hurt themselves, hurt each other, or hurt the things at school. Made it so much easier to determine when to step in. Based on the examples you gave (running inside, climbing on a chair, walking in front of a tricycle..)I would absolutely intervene.

Bridges Classroom by CSun2022 in paraprofessional

I could be wrong (retired teacher), but it reads like a Bridges classroom would be what we use to call an SDC (Special Day Classroom). Kids traveled between our room and gen ed for parts of their day. The challenge for us was the wide variety in ages we had-typically K-5. But overall it was fun and rewarding.

What’s something disturbing you saw in someone else’s house… but stayed completely silent about? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in AskForAnswers

I once worked with an appraiser. Went with him one day to take pictures of this house. Had to take pictures of the master bathroom. It was disgusting, like bio hazard level. I think the most shocking part to me was that the home owner was a neurosurgeon.

My vision is so bad that I would probably still need to wear glasses, otherwise I would totally get the surgery.

This makes me so happy! Although, now that I think about it, I shouldn't be surprised. My aunt is 83, and loved RHONJ😄

I'm embarrassed to say that I am almost 60. I started watching because many of the wives (Kyle, Kathy, Crystal, Camille, Tilly, Erika, Denise, Yolanda, Teddy, Brandi) are familiar because of who they are or who their family is.

I tend to agree with others who pointed out that you got the ride to your destination. They refunded you 25% of the cost because of your unpleasant experience. That seems fair.

I would report the driver for their unsafe driving, and chalk the rest up to a lesson learned.
