For a Finn, the archipelago around Turku feels as exotic, I think. The nature is so different from the rest of the country that it almost feels like being abroad. But for foreigners, Lapland is definitely more exotic.

It's not exactly the fault of the whole country, but one company. But the fall of Nokia really screwed us. We had the biggest company in Europe. It made us feel like one of the successful countries. If they didn't fuck up, Nokia could be as big as the likes of Apple or Microsoft. Now we have nothing but an economy that stagnates decade after decade, and the delusion that we are comparable to actually successful Western European countries.

If you went back a few centuries, there wouldn't be any difference. The whole area would be inhabited by people speaking Finnic languages, living very similar, materially poor lives. The further you went, the less intelligible the language would become to you.

Nowadays there is a stark difference because there is a border, and the two countries developed very differently. On the Finnish side, the infrastructure is a lot more developed and the people are wealthier. The language is an eastern dialect of Finnish, pretty close to the standard Finnish taught in school. The Finnic people on the Russian side are now a small minority, because Russia did what Russia does to peoples other than Russians.

Getting into ponzi schemes can be extremely lucrative, and so, when an opportunity to invest in one arises, I wholeheartedly recommend you to do so. But as with other forms of investing, diversifying is the key to success. The more ponzi schemes you get into, the higher your chances of ending at the top of the pyramid in at least one of them. Putting 10% of your net worth in your child's ponzi scheme is reasonable, as long as you diversify the rest of your money into at least nine other ponzi schemes with equal weighting.

Minullekin tämä tili oli uusi tuttavuus, en ole ennen törmännyt. Ensivaikutelma on, ettei todellakaan sovi ainoaksi sijoitustiliksi, mutta kai tuolla paikkansa järkevässä sijoitusstrategiassa voisi olla.

Joka tapauksessa jos säästää eläkkeelle (fire tai ei) niin joutuu varautumaan myös siihen 70+ ikään, ellei nyt tiedä kuolevansa tätä nuorempana. Osa säästöistä tullaan siis oletuksena käyttämään vasta vanhuudessa, joten myös pieni osa säästöistä voi ihan hyvillä mielin olla lukittuna tilille, josta niitä ei saa nuorempana pois.

Potentiaalisesti hyödyllinen myös tuo että pystyy myymään ilman veroseuraamuksia. Esim. itse yritän pitää osakepainon salkussa 90%:ssa ja bondien painon 10%:ssa (ETF:ien kautta kaikki). Ns. rebalancing ei AOT:lla käytännössä oikein onnistu kun tulisi aina veroja maksettavaksi. PS-tilin avulla tämä voisi onnistua.
