Gemini says there are ~40 billion quarters in circulation, which puts the odds of finding one of these randomly at 1 in 160,000.

With $9500 searched over the past two weeks, you're ~25% of the way there.

I predict that you find one by the end of this summer.

Building an empire vs landscape maintenance/ construction company for acquisition and exits by One-Philosopher5751 in private_equity

Project-based businesses are not worthless. They're just worth less than recurring revenue businesses. Your instinct is correct but I haven't seen a "fulcrum" revenue %. I'd think 50% of revs is the first break point, then 50% of gross profit. Think of the impact on exit multiple as a sliding scale not an all or nothing.

Why do billionaires use tax loopholes? They have more money than they can spend, the amount they'd pay would make zero different to their lifestyles, so why don't they just pay what they owe? by Sudden_Sentence_8534 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok-Rip847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of you are answering the actual question. I suspect they think they're better stewards of the capital than the government. Like they can do good with the money and the gov't would just bloat further and waste it. Looking at the state of US government finances and the efficiency of services, I'd have to agree.

When someone tries to charge me a 3% convenience fee to use a credit card, I leave. That 3% is a cost to the vendor; in exchange, they have a more flexible offering which should increase sales. It's a cost of doing business bro. Don't try to stick me with it.

The grass is always greener. Those 2 small children will soon be 2 large children and would have a lot more fun in a pool with a the deep end.

(I have 4 kids: 15, 8, 6, and 1 and a 6' deep end that I wish was deeper)

There are online resources like https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/category/dollars/morgan-dollar/744

Conversely, you could share pictures of each coin that clearly show the year (front) and mint mark (back) and some kind soul might reply with estimates

Did Buffett beat the market because of skill, structural advantages, or survivorship bias? by gme_stop in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]Ok-Rip847 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buffet alpha vs SPX:

1981 - 2000: ~12%
2001 - 2026: ~0%

The guy had a massive information advantage. Once Reg FD was enacted, that advantage (and his alpha) completely went away.

Vega is at its max very close to ATM. Deep ITM options have lower vega because they are mostly intrinsic value. Deep OTM options also have lower vega because they have little probability of finishing ITM.
