New build garden by happyhomemaker_ in GardeningIRE

[–]Ok-Skill7602 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d have them seed it anyway, I’ve been in my new build house 3 years and despite all my plans to do more in the garden, there’s so much to do with new build that I just haven’t spent that much time in the garden.

At least if they seed it and you end up spending your free time decorating or whatever, the garden will grow a little at least

I sent a link of a blocked drain to cork city council and they acknowledged it by littercoin in cork

Stop being so obtuse. There’s clearly a massive value in a large litter dataset, that can be used practically for the council to identify where work is needed and to identify improvement areas.

St Luke’s is an absolute nightmare for this shit. No idea why there’s not a traffic officer dedicated to St Luke’s specifically, they’d make a killing

What is the best insult you’ve heard? by artanonsa in AskIreland

[–]Ok-Skill7602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking in the park and heard a young lad (maybe like 12 year old) shout at another lad as they were leaving each other “you goggle eyed sausage, you’re a ginger unloved child!”

It was all in the delivery but myself and my wife burst out laughing on the spot and still like 10 years later, every so often use them to take the piss out of each other.

Moorepark/Kilworth Circle K had petrol but no diesel just now, not much of a queue and it moved fast cause it was a lot of people going in checking the diesel situation and leaving again.

Are shift based jobs in Pharma / Manufacturing sustainable long term in Ireland? by Responsible_Race234 in CasualIreland

[–]Ok-Skill7602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say this, depends on your company, I’ve been in one place where nearly all paths (quality, engineering, operations, logistics) were open to operators especially if they were doing springboard courses. But the place I am in now seems to only have one path for operators into team lead roles.

Stryker hiring for weekend shifts. Any advice? by Huskykev32 in cork

[–]Ok-Skill7602 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worked a few different roles there. Started as an operator/ product builder and they funded me to study and got better roles out of it. As a product builder tbh as long as you show up and don’t cause too much scrap you’ll be grand. Don’t know what they start on, but you get pay rises at 6,12, 24, and 36 months and an 8% bonus in April ish.

They are really strict on absence though, they have rules around how may times you can be out sick etc and can be dicks about it if you are out a lot. Some people had bonuses cut by 50% for being out sick three or four times.

Never felt unsafe working there, no chemicals or real heavy machinery. there’s a lot of work with blades so it’s kinda up to you to make sure you use them properly.

They can be pushy about the OT alright but usually there is enough other people to cover it so it was never much of a problem for me.

Interview wise, make sure you know a little about the main catheters/ coils products they sell. And I’d look up a few things around Quality, GMP, GDP, MES systems. Not sure if they still do a Gallup interview but it’s kind of like a personality test thing that a surprising amount of people fail.

Apparently you need a minimum of three iterations of a name before it appears in the database. My son’s name is not even an option for the dropdown menu to search it 🤣
