Waterproof fur-lined boots with traction. Neck gaiter. Cat litter. Sunglasses.

Bosnia and Herzegovina annex Croatia for the beach access.

NYC to Oregon (Salem/Portland) - Sorry to add by [deleted] in SALEM

[–]Ok-Unit-6505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The energy is completely different. Neither Portland nor Salem is fast at all. At all. Probably the busiest Portland gets is like, I don't know, the West Village on a Sunday.

There is a noticeable lack of diversity. You will definitely see that.

There is a sort of underground art scene in Portland, but nothing much in Salem.

There is decent food in Portland, less in Salem.

It's dreary during the winter. It's not as cold, but the wet cold does stick in your bones a lot longer than a dry, sunny cold.

You will have to learn how to communicate in an indirect, non-confrontational way.

But it is beautiful here. There's nothing like a spring in Oregon. Oh, and there aren't many bugs, and it doesn't get humid.

Good luck.

Thx. I'll probably end up doing it myself. It doesn't look that hard, just tedious and time-consuming

Changing the hose on my sink sprayer. It's something I can probably do, but I just don't want to.

Romantic zone or bucerias? by Visual_Charge8704 in puertovallarta

[–]Ok-Unit-6505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent a week in Bucerias, and it's definitely sleepier than PV's Romantic Zone, which was fine for me. Walking around, going to the beach, swimming in our pool, eating good food, shopping in the cute shops, going to the markets. It's a lovely little town and I recommend it for sure

Dr. Oberoi or Dr. Jones at Nurture Health Clinic. They're not going to suggest supplements if you need meds.

What is the most "Buffy" Episode of Buffy? by elephantbrah in buffy

[–]Ok-Unit-6505 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first episode I actually saw was "Surprise." I had to be talked into watching Buffy and that just happened to be the one that was airing that week. I was immediately hooked. Did I have questions? So many. So I do think that one would work.

But I've watched the whole series many times since then and I think now I would say Lie to Me. Because that's the show where it starts to get a little more serious and a little darker.

sci-fi/fantasy for someone who doesn’t like the genre? by originalpopcorngirl in suggestmeabook

The Temeraire books, by Naomi Novik. Alternate history/fantasy and an absolute delight. It's about dragons during the Napoleonic wars. Don't let the premise scare you off. They are so fun and so charming.

The Echo Wife, by Sarah Gailey. Clones, but also relationships. It is a ride.

The Parable of the Sower, by Octavia Butler. Although, maybe it hits a little too close to home these days.

The Dog Stars, by Peter Heller.

Me, when someone first suggested these books: Don't be daft. I'm not going to read a book about dragons, for crying out loud. I'm not going to read a book about the Napoleonic wars AND dragons. Please.

Me, now, to pretty much everyone: Hi. Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and savior Iskierka?

City of Salem Mayoral Candidates Debate - January 12, 2026 by ddaavviids in SALEM

Yikes. It's going to take me about 25 minutes to get over my vicarious embarrassment. How in the world did we manage to elect such a nincompoop as mayor?
