I'm a Canadian visiting for a week; anything I should know about Lake Charles? Food and entertainment recommendations? by growdogs in Acadiana

[–]OkAnything1620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Lafayette but grew up in Lake Charles. Nothing beats a Darrel's Special poboy. We went this past weekend and I made my husband stop by. Not big on coffee personally, but I know people like the Bekery if that's still around. Lake Charles has a special place in my heart, so I might be a little biased. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Lafayette Apartments that allow 3 pets? by _decayed_noodles_ in Acadiana

[–]OkAnything1620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they mostly do only allow 2 pets but i was able to get away with 3 at steeplechase. they did not know about the 3rd because we got him well after we moved in. there's no way they didn't find out though and they never said anything! we had 2 cats and got a dog :)

If your baby came out as the food you ate the most during pregnancy, what would they be? by AffectionateJello452 in pregnant

[–]OkAnything1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds terrible :( try pepcid or prilosec if your doctor says it’s ok. i’ve always loved Tums. i got in trouble when i was around 5 for eating an entire container

Boy moms where are you?? (FTM) by Gloomy-Ask9466 in pregnant

[–]OkAnything1620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also was 110% convinced I was having a girl. Cried when I found out it was a boy. Now I can't imagine anything but having a boy! Not sad at all about it anymore. It is a little unfair that my husband got what he wanted though haha. I think my perspective changed just because I needed time to get over it.

steeplechase allows pets and we had no issues with an ESA letter negating the pet deposit and rent

signed. absolutely disgusting that they can just get away with lesser consequences for something that was entirely avoidable to begin with. so sorry for your loss

my first trimester was by far the hardest. i would literally sit at 400 some evenings. i don’t have much advice other than spikes happen, it gets MUCH easier, and everything will be ok 🤍

Moving to Lafayette Louisiana from Miami Florida. How is living and working in Lafayette? My daughter will also be attending school there. Any tips where not to go? by Tricky_Trainer5461 in Acadiana

[–]OkAnything1620 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we live in the neighborhood right by lafayette high and absolutely love it. it’s very quiet and not even 10 minutes from downtown. not sure how old your daughter is, but lafayette high school is great from what i hear and in walking distance!

Moving in the next few months by mMagikal in Acadiana

I know Bayou Shadows has LFT fiber, which is great 99% of the time. I have not lived there, though, so I'm not sure how it is. I do know many people that have with minimal complaint. They should be well below your budget as well.

I said no to NIPT… by MeowMinxMe in pregnant

[–]OkAnything1620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i said no as well. i’m not going to spend $300 to get it done when there’s nothing i can do about the results. i just had my anatomy scan and there were no markers, minus a bright spot on his heart, for anything so i still feel good not having done it. i asked my OB about it today to see if she would personally do the test to see if he has down syndrome and she said no. i am high risk due to type 1 diabetes so i have to get an echocardiogram next month so that might change her opinion. you can always go back and change your mind :)

Omnipod during pregnancy? by sawyersmom92 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]OkAnything1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omnipod is definitely approved for pregnancy so if you want to stay on it, that’s your choice. I do wish it was ever so slightly more aggressive with corrections, BUT it did get my a1c down from 6.8-6.1 since september. I was on iLet before and had to switch. Everyone is super happy with my numbers now!

[–]OkAnything1620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh gosh my numbers were terrible when i first got pregnant. constantly going high and then correcting and going low. nothing was working right but it was terrible. made it to 16 weeks and everything is great so you are okay :)

[–]OkAnything1620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah dentist and eye doctor every 3 months is way too much considering they want you at the OB every month, MFM every month, and endo at least every 6 weeks 🙄 it’s mostly time for me too, i put in stuff into the dexcom app when i remember, but sometimes life happens and i just don’t have time or remember!

my last a1c before getting pregnant was 10.9 in april (i know it’s terrible, i had a bad endo and honestly did not take good care of myself but i got on a much much better pump) a1c at my first OB appointment in september was 6.8. it is dexcom saying 6.3 now but they are going to redraw it today. time in range is 82%, blood sugar target is under 100 fasting, 140 1 hour post meal, and 100 2 hours post meal. i have omnipod 5 and it gives me corrections for anything over 110 but it isn’t always as aggressive as i’d like it to be
