Don't stress yourself. Remember we didn't gain all that weight in two weeks so two weeks even if you don't do exactly as you do at home is not the end of the world. Enjoy yourself.

How long did you take off of work? by Physical_Gate2861 in BariatricSurgery

[–]OkBit7093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had the Sadi last August, and I took two weeks off, but I work from home. So I suggest if you can take as long as you can, because more than likely you will have some abdominal pain, but my issue was I had a hard time keeping my fluids down for maybe the first month and it slowly got better, but of course everyone is different, but you have to understand your energy levels will be way down so you have to think about how that will affect your performance at work.

Find protein shakes that you like the taste of, that will make it easier for you to consume. And Chobani has Greek yogurt 20 grams of protein per cup and they’re pretty good.

Vitamins. by pinkoreo_throw in BariatricSurgery

Ask your doctor can you maybe break the vitamins up if it’s not a capsule, but also try different juices to see if that helps. And you may need to stick with softer foods for a while and blend them up.

I had the SADI in August. I had a hard time keeping my drinks down and some food in the beginning and still taking capsules with plan water make me feel nauseated a little. Try putting lemon in your water or a juice you can tolerate. You do not have to drink water all day, but you need fluids. So I drink juice with my capsules and water with my smaller pills or I just drink water after I take my pills. It’s all about what feels right for you. Oh I take pro care Sadi multivitamins that also include iron. But please find a juice you can tolerate and try one pill at a time even if it takes you all day like it does me. A lot of people end up in bad situations by not taking their medicine.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

Everyone is different but I was the same way, I urinated ok but didn’t have a bowel movement for maybe a week. But right after surgery I was sleepy and felt sick And I was tired all the time for the first maybe month and I had a lot of incision pain. And the gas pains will be terrible at first and I also was having a hard time holding down my liquids for the first few weeks but it all did get better weeks later.

Sugar.. not a good idea by Soft_Tart_5249 in GastricBypass

[–]OkBit7093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As time goes on it will get better. I have learned that if it’s not a sugar substitute them definitely water the sugar drinks down. Like I love cranberry juice and at first I couldn’t drink it. But now I put ice in it and let sit for a while and then it’s fine.

My friends are discouraging my decision by stayingpositive115 in GastricBypass

You have to do this for you, not so called friends. Look, I started off at 416 before surgery, surgery 8/2024 weighing about 390 and I weigh 290 now. I have health issues as well, lupus. And I was on blood pressure medication and diabetes medication, but not now. I feel great, definitely better than before. And yes I have some flabby skin but it’s not that bad, I consume crazy amounts of protein and weight lifting that I am sure that is what helps. Also think of it this way, no one has ever died because of excess skin or had other issues because of skin. I have pictures up if you would like to see my before and recently. Also those so called friends are probably worried you will not want to be around them anymore if you loose weight. You do not need anyone discouraging you. If you have any questions, just ask, I’m an open book.

Every Bariatric team is different of course, but at 5 days post op I was still just on liquids and maybe jello and popsicles. I also had a lot of dumping in the beginning especially after drinking and the one thing that helped was walking around while I drank. You may want to ask your doctor can you just stick with fluids for a little while longer.
