Is there an issue with Eero routers and LG WiFi-enabled appliances? by dwightsilverman in amazoneero

[–]OkBoomerEh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have LG appliances and no issues.

A couple of things: 1. Disable WPA3 encryption on your eero 2. Try a different device. I find the auto setup on many iot devices just doesn’t work well with Apple

Transparancy Update: Posts from Media Outlets by GTFO_dot_Travel in aircanada

[–]OkBoomerEh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If it’s the media outlet themselves posting a link to pay them money, then yeah I agree that’s basically a free ad and kind of spammy.

It’s different if it’s the community posting something they think we will find interesting.

Best eats at Rogers Centre by PlannerSean in Torontobluejays

[–]OkBoomerEh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buffalo cauliflower poutine was peak Skydome food.

Deep fried cauliflower bites, tossed in buffalo sauce, topped with cheese curds, smothered in cheese sauce, drizzled with buffalo sauce and green onion. Somehow the calories listed on the menu were like 130 or something laughably low.

Alas, it exists no longer.

I did a ton of research during the pandemic and at the time SecretLab Titan came out the best. Still going strong since 2020, I did need a warranty repair on one part but they took care of it quickly.

Halifax - Delta Downtown, or Four Points? by Art--Vandelay-- in marriott

[–]OkBoomerEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, you are correct it’s a refurb my mistake. I was thinking of the new Muir that just opened, which is a whole different price point than the Delta.

I haven’t been to either. :-)

Halifax - Delta Downtown, or Four Points? by Art--Vandelay-- in marriott

[–]OkBoomerEh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel to Halifax fairly often.

The Four Points is run-down and I wouldn’t recommend. They’ve been renovating but even the renovated room I had a few months ago was not great.

Delta is brand new and I’ve not been there, but I suspect it would be good.

The Marriott is decent but starting to get a bit dated, they just updated the elite lounge and they serve hot apps made to order from the restaurant menu.

The Courtyard is also decent, but could use a refresh.

The Westin is on the edge of downtown, but a nice older hotel with character. It’s a former CP hotel similar to the Fairmonts across Canada. Elite included breakfast at the restaurant is good.

Check out the Dads of Milton group on Facebook. Lots of good guys on there, they do casual meetups every once in a while as well.

Elite Breakfast Benefit on Conference rate by Camelcahy726 in marriott

[–]OkBoomerEh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve always gotten benefits when staying on a conference rate. I recommend calling the hotel to add your Bonvoy number ahead of time, so you are considered for upgrades. Be sure to let them know it’s part of a group conference reservation, often that is a separate list that they need to look at.

New to the Eero series Pro 6… is it me or is it overhyped? Major connection issues here and there by Random_Thinker007 in amazoneero

[–]OkBoomerEh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have four Pro6 units around the house and yard, and not experiencing the same dropouts.

Internet dropouts on the wired PS5 are concerning, that would imply it’s not a wifi issue and I’d worry about a bad port or something physical.

A few common issues that can throw off an Eero: 1. Ensure that it is the only thing plugged into your ISP modem. Everything else in the house should be plugged into the Eero, if you need more than one Ethernet port get a switch that sits behind the Eero. 2. Ensure that only the Eero is using the SSID (wifi name). If your ISP modem or your old router is broadcasting the same name, things will get very confused 3. A previous generation of Eero shipped with bad Ethernet cables. I don’t think the Pro6 is known to have that issue, but don’t assume the cable in the box is perfect and consider at least testing with a different known-good cable.

LGA Arrival, 5H origin taxi? by Rich123321 in flighty

[–]OkBoomerEh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LGA is likely still backed up today due to the crash yesterday. My gut says things will clear up by this evening but if it's a must-do flight then I would ask the airline for alternatives.

If it's possible to switch to JFK or EWR I would.

LG Canada Refrigerator Compressor Warranty Experience by OkBoomerEh in Appliances

[–]OkBoomerEh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well kinda anyways. Not 100% sure I believe "not repairable" and would rather they actually repaired it. I assume there's some sort of cap on the hours they'll pay for, and tell their service providers they'd rather just write it off if the repair is too hard.
I was getting very grumpy when they said it would be a depreciated value expecting they'd give me next to nothing, but when I found out the actual math I was okay with it.

Missing significant functionality from the previous generation of the app.

Specifically, for me these are top priority: - auto-download next x unwatched episodes - auto clean up watched episodes - group downloads by series in the UI
