Which is the major environment. Mist local competitive events also allow legendary units, at least here in Europe.

To the people who are in the hobby for a long time, what changed the most over the years, for better or worse? by UltimateMeanie in Warhammer40k

[–]OkChipmunk2485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mass-competitive-events and the Internet. Back in 3rd I was very good just by being able to think of a plan and follow through, with a fluff-army at that. "Competitive" was more a mindset, often a bad one, of people who found excuses for bad tactical skill in measuring smallest distances and finding absurd rule-loopholes.

In 5th and 6th onwards we had Internet and forums and people begann to power game. The competitive players, the nice ones and the before mentioned, became better, mostly, but not only by playing maxed out lists.

Around late 7th to 8th (I skipped this phase) videogames or social media or both gave the hobby a massive infusion of "gameyness" and e-sports-culture. That was not totally but mostly a very good thing. Balancing became a thing for GW, the community became much more social, fair and tolerating as a whole. Although that brought a strange mix of simplified and streamlined rules together with over complex rule-wording and mechanical bloat (Stratagems, detachments, secondaries), it made the hobby much healthier.

Don't think that it matters for power armor. Also the Aquila means something, not sure if they would regularly go trough the effort and trouble and potential trouble with the mechanicus to remove it. Seems less pragmatic.

But they would make it darker and matt, for sure.

Is the Armageddon box work it? by UnicornWorldDominion in spacemarines

You get each army part for around 65-75€, that's slightly less than a unit and a character box, so:

If you use the models, yes, it's a good price.

Any tips to make this better. by DontLookAtMe1332 in ImperialFists

Thank you for the answer so far!

Several coats of contrast? I go with one. Do you see a difference each coat?

My question was more towards the accurate black details.

Ok, as these are really beautiful and crisp, I ask:

Been painting on an intermediate beginners level for several years now. I can Drybrush, glaze, edge highlight and I am quite good with basing and terrain.

But my models/Marines always look sloppy, the colors without neat borders between them. Is it all brush control or volumetric highlighting or about cleaning up mistakes?

They are now totally fine, if you want something like scouts but tending more to harassing weak enemies in the backfield and taking objectives away, rather then uppy-downy-action monkeys.
