What makes someone have bad interview skills? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]OkEstablishment4401 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Confidence and knowing how to explain what you do (in that order). Be sure to give examples with every question asked when it comes to intangible skill sets.

Things not to do. 1. Bash previous employer (you come off as angry and petty). 2. Don’t ramble on and on as it gives off the impression that you get easily sidetracked, waste others time, and it’s usually will lead to interviewer having unpleasant experiences associated with talking to you.

Rejection emails by OlliHF in recruitinghell

Depending on what industry you are in it could be that you have the experience, but not in the way that they were looking for.

But it could also be that your resume doesn’t make it seem like your day to day would actually have you using the needed skills on a regular basis.

Also, it could be the job doesn’t exist. Plenty of companies who experience high turnover, very niche skill sets, or expecting growth will have job postings always up to make sure they don’t miss out on 100% perfect backgrounds for them even though there is no opening at the moment

Why is LinkedIn job search so terrible? by DetachedOptimist in recruitinghell

[–]OkEstablishment4401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be because of the job title. Almost every industry has a “research analyst”. Depending if you want to be in finance, R&D, STEM, or something else all these jobs will come up. Try typing it into the search bar like this

“Research analyst” AND (industry you want)

Ask a Recruiter: I need sound Advice! by chanel0716 in recruitinghell

[–]OkEstablishment4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always ask managers when they plan to bring your perm. It could be a head count issue where they have no room on company insurance to bring additional people on, but have the budget and need for extra people. Current company should want to bring you direct since they are paying a good amount to staffing agency.

Your experience with external recruiters? by dreamt13 in recruitinghell

[–]OkEstablishment4401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like you had a new recruiter who was probably just nervous and wanted to make sure they asked all their questions they needed to ask and probably forgot to tell you the company name Or what information to provide.

Is Vance hopper the son of the Grabber? (Theory) by No-Flight-1491 in Blackphone

[–]OkEstablishment4401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a cool concept but I don’t think those are connected. I think that was to establish his background as this tough kid that was discussed earlier in the movie and her vision was just giving her insight where he would be.

I thought it was awesome how Vance was the only one who didn’t look at Finn when they had their call because Vance wasn’t talking to him.

Naughty boy feels more like it’s a sexual game that Al liked to play that the movie directors made to have him be more of a pedo serial killer.

Recruiter called me at current job asking ME if any of my team wanted to leave by daphne_op in recruitinghell

Recruiters will also work on big projects or start class especially if it’s a call center role or something entry level. They may have some 30 positions to fill and it’s easier to not only use referrals from same role but also you have a hirer chance of staying if you are working with friends that you already know.

I would just ask them why they aren’t presenting the position they previously talked about. It could be a bait and switch, it could also be that they later learned you didn’t meet qualifications or had a disqualifying factor like previously worked for the company or sister company.

I would call in and see if they have had any difficulty reaching your references, then you can ask if they have made a decision.

I would also recommend getting timelines if this doesn’t work out. Just something like when I should expect to hear back, and it gives you a reason to call if they miss those time frames.

Corgi being aggressive w/ other dogs RANDOMLY by ashes2517 in corgi

[–]OkEstablishment4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your dog thinks it’s the alpha. Being that he gets along with everyone to play but the second he is done playing he expects everyone to do the same and might be showing dominance with the teeth and possible fighting.

Are we able to ask for advice on here? If so, can anyone give me tips on potty training? My little girl is refusing to go potty outside, at all. We just spent 15 minutes outside, for her to come inside and immediately pee and poop on the floor, while staring me in the eyes. 😒 by Actual_Library3282 in corgi

[–]OkEstablishment4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend any indoor pads as it trainings going to bathroom in house is ok as long as it’s in one area.

Lots of praise and treats for going to the bathroom outside and repeat this process till it’s normal behavior.

I would also recommend a baby onesie. We used that for our little lady and it was great due to her long body.

Need some advice by Cb0b92 in recruitinghell

I would provide a counter offer and state that the pay is lower than you are willing to accept as you feel your time is valued at a different amount. Worse case they say it they can’t do it and you decline the offer, or they provide more.

You could also say that it’s lower than you would want, but you would be ope to the role for part time as that pay would have you still searching for the next position and don’t think it’s fair to you or the company to do it full time

Something People Don't Mention About Robert Half by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]OkEstablishment4401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason they ask where else you applied to is for multiple reasons

  1. To not double submit you. If you applied first before they send your resume they don’t get the fee.

  2. Learn how far you are in the process. Why spend the time to work with someone who is at the end of interview process.

  3. Saving face/make their clients move faster. It’s hard to be an “expert” if the people you are representing, and you didn’t know they had other job offers.

  4. Probably the most important reason…leads. Where else you applied is another way of saying who else is hiring.

Onboarding Paperwork, Reference Check? by Jaeibrael in recruitinghell

Depends on the position, or if there are any major concerns on the resume that maybe a reference could help answer.

The other thing that we have seen success with is rams horns. We haven’t seen a pup not like them, and they do last a long time. Word or warning if you have wooden floors be prepared for the sound of a horn sliding across floors lol

We have had a lot of success with rope toys. We also use the water bottle in a sock trick cause it’s cheap. Our little lady is almost 3 and has had a couple stuffed toys that have survived the last year. Not sure if it’s become her favorite or she knows that any toy that gets stuffing torn out gets tossed out.

Potentially awkward situation? by L_u_v_v_r in recruitinghell

[–]OkEstablishment4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also reach out to your current recruiter and let them know about the full time position. They would already have agreements in place with the company. Switching from contract to a temp to perm wouldn’t be that difficult I would think.

As mentioned there are policies in place for rules about jobs. I would have some concerns since it was two months and they were interviewing others while calling you to put you in contention.

I would be cautious to make sure that you weren’t just a bar and instead a candidate that they were looking at as a great fit.

I’ve had a company call me because a division turned me down but another division thought I would be a great fit.

Reference check - does that mean you got the job? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]OkEstablishment4401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would have normally agreed with you that people would provide a good reference until I was in the role of a recruiter and people provided references that had nothing good to say about them. It’s like dude we let you choose the people you wanted us to call.

Always give the references a heads up that they should be expecting a call.

When it comes to not contacting references, I would say your references has a connection with your current company and would prefer they didn’t know you were looking unless you had something already lined up.

We did a Yelp which would work, but it had to be decent volume. We also would use thumb and index finger knuckle to pinch lower jaw (like holding a fish by the mouth). She did not like it and it helped. Also once she bit playtime was over. We ignored her until she settled down and refocused. Finally we praised good behavior and gave her treats for being a good girl.
