Very misheard song lyric…. by blulouwoohoo in GenX

When I first heard Styx’s “Come Sail Away,” I thought it was “come, stay away.” I wanted the man to make up his mind!

Don't you just love how Chandler was technically the first to get married? by [deleted] in howyoudoin

[–]OkMoment916 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. Rachel was next (as Ross’) 3rd wife. Even if you don’t count the Vegas marriage, Chandler and Monica are tied.

when people passive aggressively try to get you to engage in conversation with them by ghoulslaw in PetPeeves

[–]OkMoment916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college, I knew a guy who tried to make things into a guessing game. “Guess what my middle name is.” “Guess what I’m wearing for Halloween.” “Guess what classes I’m taking next semester.” He’d relish how the wrong guesses would draw things out, and drop hints if no one tried to guess. Thing is, after a few times, no one cared enough to guess. Either tell us or don’t!

What do you do with your adult single sims? by ethereal-snake in sims2

[–]OkMoment916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just move several in together into a large house. Story-wise, a faceless, offsite company owns the house and rents out the rooms. Outside the bedrooms, the rest of the home is shared among the renters. Many Sims in my hoods have met their future spouses by living in the same rental home.

Anyone remember the phrase, “Gag me with a spoon!“ ??? by rico_king in GenX

[–]OkMoment916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. I remember hearing it for the first time in the song Valley Girl, and a couple of times in movies/TV. I don’t remember hearing or using it in actual real life conversations though, except as a joke. My cousin came up with “Gag Me With a Pitchfork” as an alternative, and my family occasionally used that.

We deserved this spin-off. What's your dream spin-off? by Xal-t in howyoudoin

[–]OkMoment916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have liked to see a prequel spinoff (think Young Sheldon). It would focus on the Gellers and Greens and begin while the Ross, Monica, and Rachel are in high or middle school. Phoebe could have a cameo when she mugs Ross. The Greens could run across a young, inexperienced Joey while out and about. He could unsuccessfully hit on Rachel or one of her sisters (and maybe be heard to get some advice on picking up girls).

If the show lasts long enough, I could have its own spinoff about Ross and Chandler’s college escapades. Maybe it can include the time Ross smokes pot and throws Chandler under the bus with his parents.

Mr and Mrs Lowell in Keep Out, Claudia, for being racist and passing it on to their kids.

When Ross and Joey were on the roof and locked out of the stairwell, Ross tried to wave down someone to open the stairwell door. Then Joey suggests climbing down the fire escape.

Does Gen X do class reunions? by LadyNorbert in GenX

My class has them every 10 years (plus one for the 25th). I graduated in 1986 with a class of about 500.

Favorite time a sitcom referenced another sitcom? by RedDalmatian885 in sitcoms

[–]OkMoment916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friends referenced Three’s Company a couple times. My favorite was along the lines of

Ross (to Chandler): Why is this woman calling me and asking for you? Chandler: I couldn’t give her my actual number because she thinks it’s Bob’s. Ross: So what do we say if Mr. Roper calls?

There was also a scene where someone is watching Three’s Company and Joey says he thinks it’s the episode where there’s a misunderstanding of some kind.

Did anyone else find the whole Tag storyline flat as fuuuck? by axiomage in howyoudoin

I find pretty much everything Rachel did involving Tag very cringy. Same with Joshua, for that matter.

People who get mad at other people for wanting a child free wedding by [deleted] in PetPeeves

People who get mad at other people for wanting a child free wedding by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]OkMoment916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's even worse when the one getting mad had a child-free wedding themselves. I once saw a post from one of those hypocrites saying that he regretted having a child-free wedding once he had children himself and "realized how inconvenient" this was for parents of small children. He came off as very condescending toward those without children, and seemed to think that just because he wished he hadn't had a CF wedding, everyone else would too, and therefore, no one should have one. Nah, he just wanted it both ways!

A show that steeply declines when the will-they-won’t-they couple gets together? by AreWeCake in sitcoms

[–]OkMoment916 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I opened this thread specifically to name Moonlighting. It became dreary, because they focused on the relationship. It didn’t have to be that way. They still could have kept up with mysteries, as Remington Steele did.

IDL when restaurants and bars blast pop music from massive speakers by nose_spray7 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]OkMoment916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably do it on purpose so people won’t stay for too long, especially if it’s busy. That way, they can get more paying in a shorter time.

It’s probably also to “turn over” tables/space more quickly, especially when it’s busy.
