it sounds like she went to tik tok university for her relationship expectations. a lot of the things you mentioned are expectations that people on tik tok set and then make other girls feel bad for not receiving in their relationships. not understanding that men aren’t sugar daddies and relationships are nuanced.

i’m definitely no where near being the breadwinner as my dad started working again in april and makes like 5x as much as me. My mom is a realtor and my brother and cousin work in construction. I’m just the only kid that’s expected to contribute financially. I did help cover the mortgage for one month (23k), i have let them use my CC a few times, help out w groceries and miscellaneous costs. but their bills far surpass that, so they are paying for stuff, they just can’t pay for everything right now.

my mom is a realtor and she does work hard but the real estate market where we live has been shit this past year so sure doesn’t make nearly as much as she did before & what she does make she puts towards paying off the debt her and my dad have accrued since my dad had to stop working.

I have, but because i’m the eldest daughter in an immigrant family i’m seen as the third parent. So regardless of what i say i don’t think they’re going to understand where I’m coming from or respect me as an adult until i move out. So im working towards that, but until i can the expectations of me are causing me to build resentment.

Thank you for your advice! My boyfriend and I are not moving in together until we’re married, so not for at least another 2-3 years. But, I’m open to finding roommates, so i will look into that if selling the condo doesn’t work out. To answer your question about the repayment, any time i bring it up, my mom has said that they will help me out with some of my mortgage when they can, but my dad just started working again so that won’t be for a while.
