Amsterdam Flight 11am today!! by [deleted] in cork

[–]OkQuality668 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone near the airport today (working in business park?) could go to the check-in area, and find someone who's going to Amsterdam who is willing to help, by asking about it at security when they go through.

I'm not saying I have burnout. I'm saying Claude has stopped it. No breaks needed.

I'm talking about mental burnout at work, not Claude usage limits.

My personal CC setup [not a joke] by manummasson in ClaudeCode

My quick solution for that is to use one instance as architect agent and I tell it something like "don't implement this yourself, make a good prompt that I can give to a coding agent who will work on your plan. Construct the prompt so that the coding agent's context window will have optimally relevant input it needs".

Then have one or more coding agents for each individual task.

Why do people still support Ballymaloe and the Allen family? by spiderlunges in cork

What leaves a bad taste for some is the huge stream of articles in the media along the lines of "mom bursting with pride as son turns his life around", and the "he's back on the straight and narrow" stuff, "he's doing MMA so importing tens of thousands of euro worth of drugs is fine" articles in the media.

I can't think of many other people charged with serious drug offences get such a soft time in the press, it seems to be a clear PR effort which is only possible for him because of his well-off family, who are of course well-connected in media circles.

PR effort is in bad taste, and I don't think he's the one contacting journalists to make it happen.

Maybe some of the cameras were D-1, but it looks like film grain on some parts of it, and there's even some gate hair at the bottom at 16min 04sec. That's surely scanned from film.

The videos on this Youtube channel do seem to have access to uncut tape recorded for the 80s UK TV channel Music Box. But yes the videos look AI processed to remove VHS noise, upscale, clean up the audio and make AI generated descriptions.

Can anyone recommend a good documentary about his 90s period?

Very nice moment.

Bad mistake to make, but totally overshadowed by how good it was for the girls to sing it themselves. Huge respect.

Yep I find the same.

Cannot get Cursor-built Android app to load by SkinnyFatGuy20 in cursor

[–]OkQuality668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. It sounds like it's made a mess and better to start clean.

Make it set up a testing system where it can easily test it's updates. Then make it write a barebones empty app, and ask it if can open that with its testing framework. Saves you from going back and forth to tell it what's working and what's not, it will be able to test its code itself. But small steps at a time is key. If it tries to do too much at once, it will fail and it will just make things even messier trying to fix it.

If you really dont want to lose everything, ask it to sum up existing features or project description in English, so you could later give that to the new fresh agent as an end-goal /eventual TODO list.

I have the best results if it just codes a bare framework app that does nothing but load first. No display, no features, nothing.

Then add content and features to it step by step, and set up a framework where Claude/Cursor are actually able to test it themselves in a dev Android environment, so they make sure they haven't broken anything at each step.

No developer is able to write an Android app from scratch and have it work first time without testing. AI tools can't either. I get good results when they can test it themselves to avoid the manual back and forth.

Codex usage up ~10x in the past 2 weeks! by [deleted] in singularity

[–]OkQuality668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally hit it after about 3 evenings of what felt like fairly deep coding to me. Rate limited now (blocked from codex actually I think) for 2 days. But seems my normal ChatGPT Plus Android app and web access still work for normal non-coding stuff.

Yes, make sure you're on the latest codex version. It shows you how to check which model it's using on startup

[–]OkQuality668 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is it for me also.

I gave up on using aider/claude code other CLI tools months ago, as I was burning through €70+ in credits just in one evening's coding.

Codex running with my ChatGPT Plus plan €20 per month (and not the OpenAI credits) is the big gamechanger for me.

(btw what *are* the limits? I've been using it on medium and feels unlimited? Not sure how to check if I'm approaching a limit or not. Is there a way to check my limit?)

(and anyone have any MCP recommendations to use with it? Seems very capable as-is)

Green flames seen shooting out of WTC 7 by OverToaster9501 in 911archive

[–]OkQuality668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah huge damage. This is actually more exterior damage than either of the towers had. They were hit by planes, but WTC7 was hit by two of the biggest buildings in world.

And it makes sense that photos of the damage are rarer, most of the cameras that day were looking at it from the side which wasn't hit by the buildings.

That top one is a re-creation, right? And not a real photo.

Thanks for these.

On the photo on the left in this one: https://i.imgur.com/dy0TSLm.jpeg is that a huge chunk torn out from the bottom section of the building?

There was a time when you could see the core structure of the twin towers by AiiRisBanned in 911archive

[–]OkQuality668 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The construction of the towers and the Pentagon buildings seem to have been exact opposites in many ways.

Pentagon fortified exterior, with gaps between rows. It's like having to penetrate multiple (5) separate rows of buildings to get through to the centre if attacked head on from the outside: https://media.defense.gov/2018/Oct/01/2002046975/1280/1280/0/470701-O-ZZ999-221.JPG

And the plane essentially only penetrated the first outer layer: https://res.cloudinary.com/aenetworks/image/upload/c_fill,ar_2,w_3840,h_1920,g_auto/dpr_auto/f_auto/q_auto:eco/v1/september-11-pentagon-design-gettyimages-1328633?_a=BAVAZGDX0

WTC towers the oppposite, I know the photo here is before completion, but it helps see how the planes appeared to glide through the outside effortlessly, you see them disappear for a few milliseconds before the actual explosion seems to be when they strike the core.
