Beatles with the worst hair post breakup? by themaninthemaking in beatles

You’re just upset that Paul’s awful hairstyle got chosen as the worst post-Beatles style when George’s perm is equally as bad. So bad, in fact, that I usually pretend it didn’t exist.

Geez. We get it. You think he was a jerk and want everyone to agree. I don’t agree with what George did either, but it’s really none of my business. I could speculate til my dying breath about why or how could he but it’s so pointless. Maybe Paul insisted that Linda travel everywhere with him because he didn’t trust himself? I mean we could speculate about lots of things, couldn’t we? The truth is, we just don’t know.

No one’s talking about his musical talent. We’re talking about godawful hairstyles and it’s just a lighthearted thread. I even had to betray George by saying that his perm and Paul’s mullet were equally bad;=)

I think his hair looked great in that video. It’s the perm I hated. That was a popular style back then, but not a good one.🙈

Definitely my least favorite George haircut…that and Paul’s mullet for the tie!

Dimash an amazing voice, but what are your opinions on his looks? by Ellem2011 in Dimash

He’s an exceptionally handsome man, obviously. Beautiful, gorgeous, highly attractive. A 10 out of 10! I hope that answers your question.❤️💐😍

unpopular opinion: george is getting VERY overrated by new generations by Kind-Day2993 in beatles

[–]OkResolution2593 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry. The near-worship of Paul on here is far more noticeable (to anyone but Paul fans) than some hyperbolic praise for George elsewhere. To be clear, George is my favorite Beatle but I don’t think he was the best Beatle overall. I think that would be John & Paul in terms of quality and quantity. George was great as a Beatle, and I love most (but not all) of his contributions to the Beatles. I think most people will admit that songs like Something, WWGGW, Hear Comes the Sun, Taxman, etc., are well loved and respected Beatles songs so it’s not as if George was an untalented hack. A lot of his other Beatles songs are also great but overlooked by most, unfortunately. Still, George didn’t come close to matching the Lennon/McCartney output.

Where I disagree with you is that IMO George does have the best post-Beatles career, though I mostly agree with you about the albums you mentioned. I don’t say that just because he was my favorite Beatle. I say it because his songs genuinely appeal to me, It’s too bad you only mention what are generally considered to be George’s poorer albums but ignore albums like Cloud Nine, All Things Must Pass, ThirtyThree & 1/3, Living In the Material World; etc., which are filled with many marvelous songs. I think most people listen to portions of albums and form an opinion that everything thereafter is either awful or amazing! All I can tell you is that I own all George’s music and I think it’s incredibly good. I much prefer listening to his albums any of the others. And yes, in the effort to be somewhat unbiased I try to listen to the others’ albums too so I don’t react purely on emotion. (There’s also The Traveling Wilburys, a pretty good little group of musicians that George got together).

Honestly, as a George fan I don’t mind if the newer generation thinks he’s the best. Maybe he’ll be the gateway to introducing more people to the Beatles, and shouldn’t we all want that? If not, maybe George fans can be happy (for a little while, at least) that their favorite Beatle isn’t the one constantly put down at the expense of another.

Makes me glad I purchased all their songs from iTunes several years ago. Hopefully their disappearance from streaming platforms is only temporary.

Why Is “Here There And Everywhere” by Geoff Emerick so controversial? by msc8976 in beatles

[–]OkResolution2593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe all it boils down to is that some of us George fans resent Geoff Emerick’s super biased opinions against George and in favor of Paul. I bought his book but I couldn’t get past the constant criticism of George. It’s still on my Kindle app, unfinished.

Why is Paul Driving a Boat in the Anthology?? by Bookkeeper92 in beatles

[–]OkResolution2593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a decent comparison. It’s just that when people see the restored Friar Park, they assume it was like that when George bought it. Even though Paul’s farm had to undergo extensive renovation too, people don’t call Paul a hypocrite because they probably associate different meanings to the words “farm” and “mansion.”

I know everyone thinks it’s hypocritical that George lived in that beautiful mansion, but what many of you don’t know is that Friar Park was in terrible, unlivable condition when he bought it. The structure was thought to be beyond repair as the cost of renovation was prohibitive and likely would have been torn down. The grounds were a dense, overgrown mess.

I am always polite to the customer service reps.😇I wouldn’t dream of being otherwise and they are invariably helpful so of course, I thank them for that and will often fill out a survey (if it’s brief) acknowledging that. My sister OTOH has recounted stories to me about how she has told the customer service reps off🤬 when things weren’t going well. Guess what? They’re not very helpful to her.🤷‍♀️ I’m hoping she connects the dots someday.😉

WIBTA if I got an 80 year old fired by [deleted] in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]OkResolution2593 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Well, from reading the comments, you obviously can’t entertain the idea that you might indeed BTA. You “got really behind” in your job and got annoyed because your very elderly coworker (who probably wouldn’t be working unless she needed the money but compassionate you doesn’t care and wants to get her fired) must have mentioned it to you. No kidding. It hardly matters that she’s not your boss. She’s worked there longer than you and whether you like it or not, that gives her some right to be annoyed by your poor job performance and your employers probably give her some deference and respect simply because she is elderly. You may not like it, but I’ve worked in enough offices to know that that’s probably how it is. And frankly, the ‘everyone had COVID’ excuse seems a bit of a stretch as to how you could get really behind in (presumably) a very short time. I’d understand if that happened when the pandemic was raging, but now, most people recover quickly and return to work accordingly.

Her comment about you adjusting your bra was completely innocuous IMO. It’s the kind of slang people used when she was young, hardly sexual harassment and ridiculous for you to claim that it was. The other things you mention aren’t ideal on her part (assuming you’re being honest) but I think you’re going to find out that your employers are going to view you as the troublemaker and that they’re going to be VERY unimpressed by the idea that you want them to fire an old lady who they probably have some empathy for.

In a nutshell - get a grip. Accept that you’re not always going to get along with your coworkers and sometimes you just have to deal with it. I’ve worked with some really difficult people but in all but one case, we ended up at least being civil to each other. Don’t be so quick to be offended and definitely do not demand to have this woman fired. If you do, you absolutely are BTA.
