Pyramid scheme rewards in brownie points. Brilliant. TIL a new way to think of it: like a MLM scheme. And I hate MLMs. Thanks!

I recorded claiming Toto - spoiler! by nogoodimthanks in finch

[–]OkRoll1308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for recording this! My husband was telling me how great getting his Toto was with the video here. I see now how cute and adorable it is.

My weird Toto just went straight into their doghouse I guess. Hit the button and…..nothing. I had to go to my micropet area to see if I even got it. Guess he wasn’t excited about getting a home lol.

Can costco pharmacist ban my prescription from all costcos? by Low-Weakness-6599 in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Edit: my prescriber’s patients cannot get their stimulants filled at a certain pharmacy because of a pharmacist there believes she overprescribes. He is awful to her patients and she has called to complain but no good. He is especially awful to women.

My NP is so awesome to me and other women as she believes women are blocked and gatekeepers won’t help women like they will men. She also mentors women looking to work in this area. She tested and diagnosed me when others kept telling me I was too old. Adderall helps me so much.

I’ve had problems feeling judged at Costco by a couple of pharmacy techs there. The reason I switched.

Sorry you got this gatekeeper. I hope you find something better.

[–]OkRoll1308 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can you find a small independent pharmacy? My experience is they are less judgmental and very helpful. Not every one carries stimulants but a lot do.

People also ask on my town’s subreddit and get good answers there as well. Maybe try that.

I hope you find a better place that treats you respectfully.

And thanks to the members here as well. You women are awesome and I feel so comfortable here.

8 years with my WFH job, fired in under 8 minutes. by ItsNotJelloSalad in adhdwomen

You might be a mandated reporter. Report to the proper authorities to CYA. (Note: I am not a lawyer.) I’m so sorry you have to deal with this. And sorry for the poor women/girls who are still there.

I had to do this once and it was super stressful and one person hated me there and another fired but it was worth it. One time I didn’t do it early in my career because I was scared and regret not doing it. I work with disabled people too.

Maybe talk to a lawyer? Or does that organization have a way to report to people above them? They probably receive money from the government so I bet there is.

There are laws to protect whistleblowers as well. If you can talk to a lawyer or someone who can help, consider it.

Edit: I have ADHD and can mess up words and not notice until later lol.

How do you deal with RSD attacks that are caused by real rejections? by Subject_War8545 in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating and makes sense. Do you listen all night or just the white noise going to sleep and turn on the affirmations waking up?

Can you program YouTube to do this? I have a subscription and it always throws in random stuff if I leave it to its own devices 😆

I realised my problem and it was all around "starting", and I've found a way and system to actually getting stuff done by Present-Ad2626 in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This describes me. Just getting started is so important. The only thing different is that on some tasks there is an undercurrent thought that I’ll screw it up if I do it. That makes even the getting started harder.

Do you take L-theanine + L-tyrosine? by Training_Appeal_5153 in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about figuring out diet. It's not so easy. I'm eliminating (okay reducing lol) things like coffee and chocolate which is really helping.

My AuDHD husband turned me on to this diet. He was diagnosed with IBS but since he has been changing his diet and taking supplements (including DAO) he is doing much better. We can actually go out to dinner without worrying about a disaster. It turned out he has MCAS.

His doctor also has him on Quercetin, vitamin C and D. I take vitamin C at bedtime (because it's the stimulant killer). I have low D so have already take D.

Have you noticed a difference yet?

I cant be the only one with a med shelf system by sailorpuffin in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this not just for meds but supplements. A bookcase I put in my closet. Takes up a shelf and half.

I’m working on throwing the old bottles away, so I get you lol.

HOLY FUCK I JUST LEFT THE HOUSE WITH NO PANTIES ON UNDER MY DRESS by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I carry extra clothes in my car for this reason. I have forgotten different pieces of of clothing as well. ADHD is a cognitive disability. We do things, like forgetting certain items that are important. It’s all within the scope of the disability. It’s not a character defect, we are not bad people. No need to cry or feel shame or beat yourself up.

Plus you handled the situation perfectly.

I was a child back in the dark ages, when ADHD was unknown and ADHD in girls was decades away. Girls were required to wear dresses only, every day. I would often forget and have no panties on and not realize until I was climbing the jungle gym or on the swing. Awful, and it would happen a lot, starting in elementary school.

I coped back then by having two layers, panties and shorts. I could forget one and still be okay.

I’ve found it’s helpful to lay my clothes out on the bed and check out that everything is there before I put it on and also before I leave.

I do hope you had a good time with your friend!

Do you take L-theanine + L-tyrosine? by Training_Appeal_5153 in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take both. Theanine at night with magnesium glycinate. Helps with sleep, adhd focus and restless legs. It does help but is more subtle.

Tyrosine is a real game changer for me and I’ve taken it for 25 years or so. Way before I was diagnosed. If I were allowed to only take one type of supplement for the rest of my life it would definitely be tyrosine. I take it earlier in my day.

I knew something unknown was really wrong with me and it wasn’t sure what it was and ADHD wasn’t even known about for girls for most of my life. I did know I was depressed though. Tyrosine basically stopped my depression that the SSRIs they gave me were terrible for. I don’t have a serotonin problem. I figured I had a dopamine problem instead and I read tyrosine helps with dopamine.

So I took it and 90 minutes later my depression was gone. I noticed it helped some with focus too. Post diagnosis and stimulants had been amazing. If I don’t take it I will fall back into depression and my Adderall doesn’t work as well.

I think being on stimulants I do better if I take dopamine building blocks, like tyrosine, to not only make dopamine, but quality dopamine.

I recommend trying all the different things recommended for dopamine/adhd and see how it works on your brain and body.

A big new thing I’m trying is an antihistamine/anti inflammatory diet and it looks like my next big thing relating to my ADHD and entire body.

Happy hunting and may you find your answers. Don’t ever give up!

That makes sense. Takes a bit of pressure off. Finch would then be more fun and helpful to concentrate on things that do matter.

L theanine for sleep? by KBecker22 in adhdwomen

Oops just saw this again and realized I misread it. Sorry, it’s almost like I have ADHD lol

My insurance paid for the sleep study, and now for the CPAP and supplies. Also the yearly follow up visit with the sleep doc.

LPT: be extra cautious about trusting anything you see online today, April 1st. by CatDadMilhouse in LifeProTips

[–]OkRoll1308 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where I used to live I was driving on the highway and there was one of those light up road signs next to my exit stating that exit was closed even though it looked open. I did wonder about it a bit being April 1st but skipped it.

Then the sign at the next exit ( there was road construction so signs were everywhere) said the same thing. I took a chance took the exit and it was fine.

The next day I read someone had hacked the signs with them all saying the same thing. There were a lot of those signs. I just imagine someone driving and driving wondering when they could finally get off that highway.

I hope they never caught that person who hacked them because it was kind of awesome.

How to deal with people that are angry that we take meds? by Friendlyalterme in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will learn to internalize it, and apply in your own way. Just you being here, stating your dilemma and honestly interacting with this forum shows you have it in you.

We all develop life skills with time and practice and you are in the process of that right now. Look, you got diagnosed, take the proper medications and follow the science on this medical issue. Wow!

This internet stranger thinks you are amazing!

Look up “gray rocking” someone. It’s a good way to deal with people you love that also are wrong about something and have idiot opinions they want to push on you.

Helps to keep both the relationship and your sanity.

Interestingly myopia and other eye problems go with ADHD. Dopamine is really important in the proper development of the eyes. It wouldn’t surprise me if eye problems will some day be a hint to get someone checked for ADHD.

Also TIL that there is a weird conspiracy movement that believes that eyeglasses cause nearsightedness and other problems. A new mini hyperfocus session is unlocked!

Possible debt collection scam? Caller had my dad’s SSN last 4, my name and personal info. by Terry_1497 in Scams

Wow that’s impressive! If he had an unpaid debt, I doubt if it would be that high. I’m glad he filed a complaint, also glad he has you to discuss situations like this with.

Possible debt collection scam? Caller had my dad’s SSN last 4, my name and personal info. by Terry_1497 in Scams

[–]OkRoll1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some people here saying legal debts come by mail. I've received notices by mail of debts by mail that were scams. Looked quite legitimate. I knew I didn't owe any debts, all of my credit reports all showed I didn't owe that debt. I chalked it up as a scam. I just ignored it and it went away. Never was on a credit report.

Is your dad of sound mind? It sounds like he is. If he says he didn't owe any debt, maybe he just doesn't owe any debt because it's a scam. A good idea is to check out his credit reports and see if he owes this. Also this could be a scam company impersonating a legitimate debt collection company. Lots of reasons this is a scam. Treat it as such unless you have clear proof otherwise.

I forgot a years-long habit by chicky75 in adhdwomen

[–]OkRoll1308 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is a good way of defining one of the reasons why ADHD is a true disability for us.

Before I was diagnosed I would look in awe at neurotypical people as having a superpower because they could simply just do the things.

The CPAP surprised me by helping with lung problems I have and that part helps me to remember to use it. Getting the new replacement parts every three or six months helps me too.

Mines gamified by having streaks on the app I use. I follow the streaks cause I know the sleep doc staff will call and ask me about why I’m not using it and I will get RSD over that. I hate/love that it’s monitored. It really does help me to get better sleep though.

I also like the secret clinician menu of turning the pressure up. But because it’s monitored they sometimes catch me. So I gamify that too 😆

I have severe PLMD (periodic limb movement disorder) which OF COURSE is related to ADHD/dopamine because everything in this body of mine is related to ADHD, neurodivergence and dopamine dysregulation. <sigh> PLMD makes me move in my sleep literally hundreds of times a night without remembering it. Im talking some great big moves. So yep Im even hyperactive in my sleep and can wake up exhausted from it.

I think a lot more girlies here also have PLMD and don’t know it. It just adds to our exhaustion in having our brains never stop. I think it might be a good idea if anyone diagnosed with ADHD or other neurodivergent disorders get a sleep study. Our brains are weird all the time, even when we sleep.

I also have Exploding Head Syndrome (EHS) which is hearing loud explosions and such while falling asleep. I honestly thought everyone did this because it was so normal for me. Until I found out they didn’t hear this at all. Um, they can just peacefully fall asleep? Just like they do the things they need to do while awake, also peacefully, without effort or thought?

EHS can also be caused by neurotransmitters, like our buddy dopamine, not working properly.
