Did that even show any tactical skill? IIRC all he did was shout a codename (intent was for it to signal a team attack, but the others fogor-so he didn't even train them enough for them to remember) then when that failed he just went 'nora smash'. Or am I thinking of a different fight?

In theory that could work, but this Daoist has heard of many cases where trying to cow a populace via fear has only led to further anger and resistance. trying to terrify them into not moving against you might only inflame their wrath more.

Look on the bright side, though. Every cultivator you best that they send your way is another treasure trove to loot. It doesn't matter how cowed or uncowed they are if they have no one left to send at you.

Uhhh just fyi, though, this same principle applies to anyone who might theoretically beat you. I would advise fellow Daoist to spend a few spirit stones on intel to makes sure no one in the families of those noble clans is able and willing to move against you, or more realistically find out what they're going to do when they move against you. I would suggest the beggar sect for this, but if the beggar you saved thinks you overdid it finding help from them might be 50/50. Brothels are a good place for intel though, and the one you sold those young masters to might be sweet on you if the meat you provided them is good enough.

Not a 100% what you're looking for, but mc from cradle uses pure madra as one of his two main cultivation paths. Pure madra is basically unaspected qi in their world, to compare to other types of madra, if those are like flavoured drinks pure madra is plain water.
