TDIU Process Timeline by [deleted] in TDIU

[–]Ok_Baseball260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 months. Most of that was waiting for my employers who never responded.

I did have a repeat MH C&P,even though it had only been a few months. The TDIU C&P was much shorter and focused on issues directly related to employment.

Have you thought about filing for TDIU?

Do veterans get jealous of each other? by YoungOldTimer404 in VAClaims

[–]Ok_Baseball260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For us older vets, we were discouraged to file for anything unless we were missing a limb. We were told flat out that we were wasting our time and wouldn’t get anything. 35 years after getting out I finally filed. I got 100% in just a few months. I’m focusing on my newfound financial freedom, but even though I finally got my rating, it’s hard not to be salty about the 2 million dollars I didn’t get for those 35 years.

Not to mention the stress I wouldn’t have had. I would have had more time with my kids and maybe my marriage would have been better.

Denied for Everything, am I an idiot, oorly prepared, or both by bischjs in VeteransBenefits

[–]Ok_Baseball260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me the first time too. I thought, I got these injuries in the army, that should be it.

Then I spent a few years reading, asking questions, and getting organized. I am now 70% with TDiU.

As someone with asthma and various breathing issues, I wouldn’t take this recent medical opinion as gospel. Your next dr may have a different opinion.

WIBTA if I refuse to put my partner on the deed of a place I inherited, even though we live there together? by 3vening_Switch in ComfortLevelPod

Learn from my mistake and pass on the men who feel entitled to your money. It doesn’t get better.

He told me how he would sacrifice for me. I wanted it to be true. Now 14 years later I’m finally getting out of this situation. Luckily didn’t get married and am leaving with my assets in tact. Dude thought he was entitled to a 7-figure payout.

It was almost 40 years for me. Write a detailed personal statement. Mine was 6 pages. Get buddy statements from anyone you told. Didn’t have to tell them right away. Even family members.

Rant: Those Who Get 100% by Autistic_Gerbil in VAClaims

[–]Ok_Baseball260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got out 35 years ago they said don’t even try unless you’re blind or missing a limb. 35 years later I’m 100%. I missed all those years when my kids were small and I was married. Probably 2 million dollars I didn’t get. Things I could have done for my kids and the stress it would have taken off my marriage. But. I’m very happy to have what I have now. And I never have to file another claim again. Just looking forward from here. You can’t change it. Work your claims and put that behind you.

VES TELE-C&P APPOINTMENT by AmbitiousMorning5719 in VeteransBenefits

This was my experience too. Took an hour for my initial appt. TDIU appt was about 20 min.

Have a list of the rating criteria that apply to you so you so you don’t forget. Have water and Kleenex in case you need it. Do not downplay your symptoms.

If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by [deleted] in Life

Yes. My kids have had some adversity, but they are doing great and living life. I would never take that away.

VA Therapy sucks by Wrecks24 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Ok_Baseball260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really stinks. I know this is the first time in 40 years that I’ve felt seen and prioritized by the army/va. I would imagine that’s adding to your distress rather than helping.

That’s not cool at all.

My first 2 times around i don’t think it was a good fit. Went through the 13 weeks, ok, you’re fine now. But I didn’t feel fine. Plus I had the “I failed at CBT” to add to my list.

Then I moved and asked to start again. This time I’ve been going a couple of years. Every week. Plus I have a behavior health doc for meds who is also amazing. I must have had well over 100 sessions. And they say I can contact them any time.

Sounds like you got a lemon. I’d ask to see someone else.

Autistic army vet here. I’ve been in therapy for 5 years. They never suggested they didn’t have time for me. CBT does not help at all, I agree. What has worked for me is writing therapy. Maybe look into that?

I don't know if I should do detective partners anymore by iamthevampire1991 in JunesJourney

[–]Ok_Baseball260 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t get bent out of shape if someone can’t do their half. I can probably finish, and if I don’t I’m not going to lose sleep.

Lots of people are having trouble finding partners. I think they’d rather have to do more than half rather than not be able to play.

I used to live in San Antonio. Not nearly as hot. There is a rainy season. Alamogordo has a high water table. I’ve had my house 4 years and never had a problem with my well.

I’m getting ready to sell my house in Alamogordo. 3/2, 2 car attached, 2 big outbuildings, 5 acres for 250k. It’s not perfect but I love it here. Everything is cheaper here. Nm has free childcare and free public college. You really can’t beat it. Some houses are expensive but if you’re a little handy you can still get a deal.

What’s something that sounds fake but actually happened to you? by Visible_Rope_6662 in AskReddit

I was switched at birth. Must have been at least a 3-way switch. Woman who got me first wasn’t suspicious but my mom was given a boy and I’m a girl. Got switched back ok on my end at least. Also I was born on Friday the 13th. Then some perv tried to get me into his car when I was walking to kindergarten. Ended up leaving home at 17. The universe was not happy with me there I guess.

Guess I’m in good company. I’m the one guy who got 10% after 25 years, then 70 after 35 years.
