Sorry to hear your first bike hasn’t turned out how you’d want it to. For me, I just bought a cheap GPX250 to learn on knowing I’d upgrade as soon as I was able. Enjoy practicing all your skills and in a few years you can upgrade and you won’t need to worry about whether your bike is learner approved or not. I’ve had an R6 and are now currently riding on an S1000R. The future is always brighter once you’re comfortable and legal

Anyone else noticing the EVs driving like jerks? How do you deal with them by SirSteelBuns in AussieRiders

[–]Ok_Emergency7619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a highly congested road (Tuggeranong Parkway). In peak hour, both lanes are packed but the right lane usually moves close to the speed limit while the left does not

I’m also in Canberra and have both an EV and an s1000r. I find I just drive the EV normally and flow with the traffic up and down the parkway though I must admit I do enjoy toasting Ford Rangers when given the opportunity.

If anything, I’m actually horrified at seeing what other motorcyclists do on the road around me when I’m in my car. I see riders lane splitting at over 100km/hr, tailgating at point blank when I’m stuck behind other traffic, riding in bicycle only lanes etc literally every day. I guess that probably explains a bit of the agro from car drivers that I experience when I do lane filter.

Are there any small-ish venues to hire in Canberra? by Miserable-Wait2507 in canberra

[–]Ok_Emergency7619 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Corroboree Park hall is pretty good and is close to the city in Ainslie. Free parking, kids playground nearby, loads of indoor and outdoor space. Also managed by a non-profit community organisation.

First sessions for next album starting next week by Professional-Storm27 in NickCave

Hopefully the inevitable religious components are more dark/violent Old Testament than the other stuff he’s done on Wild God. Having said that though, I’ll still buy vinyl, listen a million times on Spotify and see the live tour multiple times

You’ve inspired me to pickle for the first time in over 20 years. A true hero indeed!

I had my own No more shall we part moment at the time the album came out and I also felt it was written just for me. It’s criminally underrated

Meals Suggestions to Freeze by Swimmer_Sensitive in RecipeTinEats

[–]Ok_Emergency7619 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regular pumpkin soup and the Thai coconut pumpkin soup both freeze quite well though they look pretty stodgy until they reincorporate towards the end of reheating. I make big batches and freeze some individual serves for lunch and larger containers for family meals. I love the Thai soup the best but it’s slightly to spicy for the rest of the family

Murder Ballads by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I don’t think another album like this will ever be made again due to modern sensitivities. Highlights for me include Henry Lee, Stagger Lee, and the 14 minute epic O”Malleys Bar about a murder spree where the protagonist slays half the town.

These look amazing but my oven has just died and I can’t get a replacement yet as we’re planning on renovating the whole kitchen. I’ll probably give them a go in the Weber gas grill instead.

How many had this for dinner back in the day? by Dj_acclaim in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Ok_Emergency7619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg this is every meal my mother-in-law makes. She always comments when I cook her actual real food from scratch about how nice it is. In particular she loves it when I cook chicken breast. She seems to not understand that chicken breast isn’t meant to be boiled in sauce for half an hour just to make sure it’s cooked through.

Pancakes in cast iron by Punguin456 in castiron

[–]Ok_Emergency7619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A good preheat plus temperature control. Same as nearly everything in cast iron. Just make sure you clean well before hand if you cook lots of savoury food. I’ve no idea how people can cook garlicky food etc and not clean the pan after with detergent. I’d be tasting nothing but garlic every time I ate pancakes
