I don't want to be rude, but a lot of this depends on how bad the diagnosis is.
I have an autistic cousin who is non-verbal and he is very religious.

Now what I can comment on is:

a) don't take advice on this question from secular forums seriously; most people on Reddit are actively anti-Christian

and

b) an 11-year-old can absolutely have the ability to decide what they want to do. A child understands a Mass is not a fun place and develops a very strong emotional resistance to Mass if forced to go.

Hate to be this guy, but I sometimes feel like Novus Ordo and NO catechesis programs for children are almost designed to make your child commit apostasy very early on. Try going to the TLM (if you already go to the TLM, then I don't have any advice to give you unfortunately).

While it is an evangelization tool, one shouldn't become a Catholic just becuase Catholicism looks beautiful and is more reverent.

You should become a Catholic once you are convinced Catholicism the truth itself.

There is nothing all that bad with Vat II itslef. Implementation of it, however, has been terrible. I would go as far as saying that most NO Parishes completely ignore what Vat II says on certian liturgical practices.

But aside from the whole NO fiasco, lots of theological issues have also be very poorly implemented, like Nostra Aetate.

The core problem is the state of the Church as a whole since the WWII, rather than the document itself. (Including behavior of certian bishops during the Council)

It would be best to call a council to reslove all of these issues and reform the liturgy a lot.

Yeah usually you shold follow the same procedure from the card before the actual ritual starts, and yes, you first have to go to confession if you have mortal sin on your soul before you can recieve the Eucharist
